Love your channel!! Just found it today and have watched 3 videos already, subscribed! Your tips and advice are simple and realistic and i think thats so important when it comes to starting a weightloss journey
I've had such an unhealthy relationship with food and my body for so many years, and just focused so hard on restricting and cardio which has led me to losing and gaining the same 10 lbs over and over and feeling miserable. Genuinely the first time my mindset and method has ever changed has been through finding your videos, and though my weight has stayed relatively similar, I have so much more muscle than I've ever had before and feel a lot better and less disordered. April you are a goddess amongst women lol, I cannot thank you enough for being so straight forward and giving tips that actually work
@Jaylade I believe because you are losing fat but building muscle. And muscle weights heavier than fat.Don't be discouraged and do not focus too much on the number on the scale. You are basically replacing fat with muscle
Thank you April ❤ My relationship with food is so much better since watching your content. I find myself eating more (in volume) and adding to my diet (like protein, fiber and the feared carbs) instead of taking away and restricting cycles
Thank you, April!! I’m getting married in Sept, and will have a dress fitting in May. These tips are SO helpful, and give me hope that starting now, I’ll be able to love my body the right way and look and feel my best before my big day. ❤️
Awesome video! I really loved all the tips!! Especially the one about being able to WAIT before eating when my body says 'eat now!!' Great content!! :)
Subbed! I’m 5 foot 2 and it was rough for me to change the mind set to not eat almost nothing, I did lose all the weight I needed about 2 months ago but to go from that to where I am now with heavy weight training again, I wish I’d have started earlier and really told my self it’s ok to eat. I weigh 118, and I eat well over 100g a day in protein. That alone has changed everything for me.
@@MuslimahOfIslam-b6r I would say but my comment got deleted, I guess I offended someone and I don’t eat enough even though I stay at a consistent weight for maintaining. I’m also not a young person I’m middle aged so my metabolism is not what it used to be idk.
As a 5’2” mom in my 30s, I’ve been on this journey to eat enough protein this past year for more energy, because I always felt like I needed a nap just taking care of my kids. I was eating plant-based Whole Foods for years (with a little eggs and meat a few times a month). I tried so hard to get quality protein in eating mostly plants and it just didn’t work. I’ve transitioned to a more whole food, meat-based way of eating, very low carb, and I feel sooooo much better. But I need this petite woman specific approach to fitness. 💗
Hi April, I've been following your content since the pandemic, and it's been incredible to see how your audience and community have grown during this time. Even though I haven't been able to subscribe to your programs, you've been a huge motivation for me to start weightlifting. Thank you for all your hard work and inspiration, from one petite person to another ✨✨
Omg April it's been two week already having 60 to 80 grams of protien a day and the heck I feel full all the time and Damm I feel energetic looking up to my workouts I m not even counting calories and I'm feeling healthy and glowed up don't know why but yes protien is a game changer ❤
To make the more difficult willpower moments easier I've been thinking what do I want more. Future esthetic and health? Or this temporary pleasure? That usually leads me to question if maybe I can have whatever it is in moderation or not etc
I have been working on upping my protein intake and eating and tracking my food. I was nervous to start doing that again but now that Im tracking with intention I quickly realized I was severely undereating. I was getting by with one meal a day! I could eat once a day and feel fine, but overtime I started to feel the effects. When I was on my first gym journey, I was eating good and lifting heavy, but the drinks kept me skinny fat! I was having drinks every weekend. I had to cut back and now that I dont drink as much I feel like my fatloss journey will be a lot quicker and of course healthier with mindful eating.
Im a all or nothing girl and I feel that’s what stops my process . Either I’m 100% sugar free no junk food or I’m I eat junk food everyday girl . I can’t find balance :/ i can’t just have one cookie cause I will want more so I rather tell myself I can’t have none 😢
I had to train my pallet to enjoy Seltzer water, stevia, low sugar sauces etc,, I don't miss the unhealthy alternatives anymore, but now my body is so used to these healthier options they no longer help me lose weight! Just maintaining
For me it’s overdoing cardio… guilty!! I go through this loop where I do soo much cardio and feel like I’m overeating from running so much, to switching to weights but then feeling bulky and stiff. I try to find a balance between cardio, and weights or even weight sessions lifting less heavy and doing it more high rep! But I still feel like my progress is at a plateau unless I run more/eat less… Anyone else relate?
Love your content- I’m not quite the height you describe but pretty close and can really relate to your advice and experience overall. I’m like 5’4” and a half so I mostly go by 5’5”. But I am def checking out that book now and this helped me with needing some extra motivation today, on day 4 of the #75hard challenge I connected with the emotions quote from that book- needed that 🙏
I’m a young girl, I’ve always been known as the “skinny girl”, or the “smallest in the class”. Growing up before my teenage years I was very very petite. Although I was petite, I ate as much as I wanted, and when ever I wanted and my body never changed. Through the last 4-2 months I have been feeling a little bigger in my belly. ESPECIALLY since last week. I was sick and was put on steroids(steroids are known to cause a little weight gain). Well, anyways my stomach now is bigger then my top part of my body. The worst part about this is that the rest of my body is still super small. I have noddle Arms and little hands. I have small legs with not meat on them. So, I have small arms and I big stomach…. The part that makes me feel uncomfortable is that I’ve never felt fat. Like I said I was always shammed for being really skinny. I don’t want to feel like this. I hope I lose this weight before the summer. How will I wear a biki ever again? Idk. If you have read this, pls tell me what you think. Thank u
Steroids tend to cause weight gain in the trunk/tummy area, with little gain in the limbs. If you're still on steroids, don't beat yourself up if you're following great advice but not seeing changes - you can't do much to change what the meds are doing to your body, but I'd think it's worth it if your medical issues are being controlled. Just stay as active as you can manage and try to love your body however it may look and change over time 😊
A question for you! How did you get out of the habit of snacking when you didn’t need to? I have added more protein and fiber and done all the things to make sure I’m in a sustainable calorie deficit but I often find myself snacking even when I know I’m full and stuff just because it’s been hardwired as a habit. How do you get out of that? It’s so automatic and I find it hard to break the habit.
put up physical reminders like put a sticky note on your fridge, door etc. to help you remember (its a prompt to say "do i need this? will i benefit from this snack? am i hungry or thirsty" etc) and I also try and have a rebound behaviour like for example do a walk up and down your hallway and see if you still want it. it also helps to pick up a hobby! most people snack when they're bored so going for a walk or painting, writing etc can help
Make it more difficult for yourself to snack, don’t bring snack foods into your home. I’m doing the same thing these days by only stocking food for proper meals that needs to be cooked 😅 and it helps. That, and I’ll just opt for a cup of tea instead of food when I need something purely for the ‘mouth hunger’
Id say if you live by yourself/ not with parents don't buy the snacks or if you like low cal or healthy snacks buy fruit or something. Also you said you added protein but try and eat 100grams or more daily if you're not already and still have snacks BUT only once you've finished your protein goal (which can be hard to do)
Thank you April! I have a quick question what do you think of Pilates? I have been doing small weighted Pilates and I love how low impact it is compared to actually lifting weights. What is your advice? I thought about doing Pilates twice a week and weight training at least 3 times a week
I'm a 17 y/o female, 5'1 and 100lbs. However, I have fat at my sides that I'm not happy with. Calculators say my BMR is around 1200. I tried eating under 1000 cals for a month. The first two weeks were easy for some reason and i lost about 3lbs(I was around 103.5 two week ago) but last week I couldnt do it anymore and i binged. Does anyone know how many calories i should eat to lose fat but not starve?
Hey! I know the goal right now is for you to lose weight, but you are 17. Your body is still going to shift and change in the next few years. Just remember to be kind to yourself. Have realist goals, and remember weight loss should take time. Take care.
@@Jaylade I have always been on the skinny side though. It's just that overeating over the past couple of yeas made me gain some fat so I'm pretty 'skinny fat'
I was exactly you at 17. I was super small but had quite a bit of fat around my mid section. I couldn't lose anymore weight without being underweight. Yet still could grab a handful of fat around my belly. I had a boyfriend that played football and had been in great shape with a 6 pack and I remember asking him how to get rid of that fat and he told me I just needed to run, I tried but I was never a runner so that didn't last. Now at 38 years old I finally know the answer and I wish I could go back and tell 17 year old myself. LIFT WEIGHTS/BUILD MUSCLE and eat at least 100g of protein a day. That is all you have to do! Also, don't be afraid that lifting weights will make you bulky or manly, you would have to do a lot of it for a LONG time to come to that.
@@QTBlonde22 Thank you for the response! I do strength train 3x a week currently but my protein is definitely not up to 100g😭😂... How about the calories though? Or should I just track protein?
Yes, but VERY difficult. Protein is a source of calories, so like carbs or fat, going in a surplus of any calories from any macro can result in weight gain. Protein is very hard to overeat though, us petites are fat more likely to overeat fats and carbs
How many grams of fibers should I eat per day in order to lose weight 🤔 and what are some good sources of fiber that are low carb and is it OK to take a fiber supplement will it work the same?
what if Im not able to go to the gym will lifting weights at home still work? I also do pilates and walk but I get discouraged when its been 3 weeks and I don't see any results
it is VERY hard to end up looking 'buff'. Its a common misconception for women that we're going to start working out and immediately look buff and like a guy. What you don't realise is the women who look buff spend hours and hours per week in the gym, have the strictest diets they stick to at all costs and could even be taking sterioids. But for us normal people, who work out maybe 3x a week with a couple walks here and there, are semi strict on a diet with balance of course and aren't taking any performance enhancers, its practically impossible to become super muscular.
It's very very hard to look buff as a women. If you do full body workouts and have a decent diet there's no way you'll be able to look buff/ masculine from that. And if you find yourself looking almost too muscular, just keep working out but stop increasing the weight from then :)
