Everyone goes on about Joan Collin’s wigs on this show but I don’t think they were ALL wigs. I think there’s a good chance this may be her real hair here.
Does Steven not realize that his mother is an Absolutist Autocrat a Noble Sword, and can do anything she sees fit with her company and her money, without any explanation to anyone. Alexis is really giving Steven a gracious courtesy by leaving the subject open to debate.
Thomas Burr that wld be a correct statement if colbyco were a privately held company....colbyco was a publicly held company which means it was governed by a board of directors and stockholders.....the ceo could not just withdraw company funds for private/personal use.....that 5million dollars would have needed to be approved by the board with repayment terms spelled out....if you google bernie ebbers......this was part of what he was brought up on charges for....as the ceo of a company as large as colbyco alexis had to have an annual salary and stock options but she does not have the right or abilty to make up her own salary...her salary and stock options would be part of her contract and that contract is decided by the board of directors....this is a major part of what they left out of the show...at any point and time blake could have purchased 10% of colbyco stock....10% would have given him an automatic seat on the board and he could have blocked all of her moves and even staged a coo.....
In the first season it was said the Denver - Carrington Corp. belongs mainly to Blake. He controled more than 70 % of the stocks. And with Colbyco it was nearly the same. So, that means that Alexis could do with the money whatever she wants without asking someone for allowance. She had the absolute majority! And more than that she used the funds fulfilling Cecil´s legacy according to his will - bringing Blake down to his knees!
Yes, Alexis Colby did own the majority stock, in Colbyco. That would be anything, percentage wise, of 51%, of the common stock, or more, to have majority control of the Colbyco empire, and too do as she pleases, with any and all of Colbyco funds!
Jason Gibson Jack Coleman was great as well. They both played Steven Carrington very well. My favorite tv character of the show and one of my favorite all time characters EVER!
Of the two Stevens I like Jack Coleman. I like how Al Corley played Steven in the early years, but it was like when Jack took over the role, it was like Steven was growing and maturing.
Keep in mind that part of the issue here is that Steven thinks he saw Alexis push someone from her balcony. That's probably made him particularly suspicious of her (in addition his sister was still "missing" so he was pretty stressed at this point.)
When I first whatched the show back then, I thought Alexis was the villain; now that I'm grown 50+, divorced with grown kids of my own and going over the clips & putting myself in her shoes....I begin to ask myself, would I have acted differently? I hope I'm not alone on this.
Attacking Blake? She had some justification. But she had absolutely no justification for attacking Krystle or Dominique--in point of fact, her only reason for targeting Krystle in the beginning is so she can get Blake for herself. And let's not forget how she behaves with those grown children. She plants herself in Mark's bed so that Fallon can see her there. She interferes in Steven's marriage to Claudia from the outset. She doesn't even acknowledge that Amanda is her daughter until she's forced to do so. Adam is possibly the only one she hasn't done anything unwarranted to at this point. Besides which, with all of them except possibly for Fallon, there's an undercurrent of competition with Blake in Alexis' dealings with her children--as if she doesn't believe she can have a full relationship with them if they also have one with him. Adam, Steven, and Amanda are as much spoils in her ongoing war with Blake as they are her children, and it is very much a zero-sum situation as far as she's concerned.
Well, let's not forget: Steven was Blake and Alexis' *son*. If it had been Fallon who was gay instead of Steven, I'd be willing to bet that it would have been Alexis who had the bigger problem with it.
I love how Alexis deflects, does a little dance of indignation and pompousness and above all denies and lies. I don't remember if Steven tells his father or not, but I hope he does. There is nothing like these eighties oil and rich people's shows. There was a point where these shows stayed on too long. They got stale. Dallas was the same way. Stale. At five seasons, I knew JR would be doing the same thing over and over with the same result. BORING.
steven from seasons 1and 2 would have never ended up working for colbyco. he would have been doing something creative and been out. seasons 1and 2 were the best yrs. the show was darker, less soap opera-ish.......
That’s actually not uncommon in the business world. They the company’s resources, like money or the branding of an LLC to finance their own things. In many cases, it has gotten people and companies into a lot of trouble.
Are serious???? come on pearls with that outfit especially the bling around the waste - that would be a fashion fau pas! LOL Pearls require the right outfit; this was not one of them.
I liked them both. I came to appreciate Al Corley once I got older but Jack Coleman was one of the first crushes of my pre-adolescence...right about the time I figured out that I liked boys as much as girls.
Joan always loved walking away so she could spin round fast & snap her lines.
LOL LOL I love comments!
I do this in real life. You've totally exposed my tactics!
@@metasmith lol, i think you have a talent for theater
baahahahahaha "Spin-n-Snap"... it was a hundred yeard before Legally Blonde ripped it.
She's so much more hilarious and entertaining than the others. Even when being accused of murder by her son.
Alexis's dramatic head shake and wig wobble!!! 🤣
I thought that wig was gonna fall of her head.
Everyone goes on about Joan Collin’s wigs on this show but I don’t think they were ALL wigs. I think there’s a good chance this may be her real hair here.
Wigs. How very dare you
I love how Joan Collins always pronounces "Ne-go-Cee-A-Shions" lol
Oh I like that too😉. Pretty classy, I d say.

The right way to pronounce it...
Huh? That is the proper Queens English?
How else can you Americans say it?! Lol
@Ka chi wow, do Americans really pronounce it that mangled way??
How vulgar...
Gorgeous Steven, so handsome and Alexis, the one to die for 💗🤣🤣🤣
this was when dynasty was at it's height. it started to fall in ratings towards the end, but still, a great show !
Love how the fire 🔥 is suddenly in the background of Alexis while she’s wearing a devilishly red dress while being accused of murder 😅😅😅
Because of your comment, I had to replay that! That is so funny and on point!

No one wears red like alexis.Nothing was to over done joan.Dress, lips nails bam.For some this look could be too much but joan wears it well.
So classic soap - female femme fatales wearing cocktail dresses to work lol.
I think Alexis was Joan and vice versa, both were always dressed to kill.
the only thing I do not like on her elegant style is these huge wigs. They made her look funny, as if she had a huge head and a small body.
I believe she did her own make-up, I remember the horror film she did The empire of the ants. Loved Dynasty.
I miss Al Corley, he should have stayed with the program. Al was really cute and handsome and still is today.

Jack Coleman is hotter and cuter than Al Corley.

Alexis could wear a burlap sack and still look fabulous!
They don't make 'em like Jack Coleman anymore. Perfect in every way. Ahhh.

Considering how supportive Alexis was of Steven and his "lifestyle" while Blake...wasn't, it was kind of dickish for Steven to turn on her like this.
