In my opinion, I'm happy that the trucks are here but disappointed that they lack certain features that we think are needed - AWD, for example. Yes, I know - diff lock for two of the three trucks. Hopefully, the modding community can help out in making these trucks better - and be able to have their tweaks make it to consoles.
Why, why, why give us trucks that don't have awd and diff locks? That makes no sense in a game where you spend the majority of your time in areas that are basically just glorified cow paths. As you said, if the on road physics were decent, then I could see it, but I think I'll pass on this one. At least it's only $6, right?
Im hoping they add the upgrades in S8 but well see. Yeah I got the pack and pulled out all 3 trucks. I was like wait….. theres no awd and only 1 has diff lock? Wtf
Tbh dude, I wish I woulda read it before I got them. I’m super annoyed that none of them have diff or awd. They’re basically useless outside of the first map. They struggle on those maps in certain spots too.
@@Just_Waitin_For_A_Mate Except Mack, no one builds their own axles. But all the axle manufacturers offer pretty much any configuration you want. If you had a truck without them, you would just have to swap out the 3rd member and hook up the airlines and a switch.
Western Star IRL are logging trucks, axle locks come standard, if you want a "highway" Western Star, you buy a Freightliner, they're the same company. The whole point of Western Star is you can take them offroad. Edit: Also, these tractor-trailers are very unstable when "bobtail" without a trailer, as a Canadian trucker myself, my freightliner will never slip on ice or snow when hauling 20 tons, but when I don't have a trailer, it'll slip on the slightest bit of snow to the point of being dangerous. I once got stuck in 2 feet deep snow with my tractor bobtail, the rear axles were so light I would put whatever I could under the wheel, and water bottles wouldn't get crushed, I ended up strapping my winter coat on the tire to get enough grip to finally pull myself out of there, it took an hour and a half, my coat was fine. Snow works exactly like mud, the similarities are uncanny, if you have a full trailer with 20-30 tons of cargo, the traction wheels will sink until they find rocks or root, and they'll pull you out of there.
Alright, I'm not super impressed with the performance of these trucks, however, I bought them as I buy all DLC for Snowrunner. That said, I paid like $1.50 after MS Points. This DLC is more for collectors than anything. Thanks TC!
You are correct in asking western star to put in a diff lock. I drive dump trucks. We have 2 lock types. Inter axle which allows all rear axles to receive power(normal road use we turn that off), many ingame trucks seem to have this on by default on what's called the tandem(2×rear axles) Then we have differential lock. Standard diff lock making both sides of the axle spin at the same no matter what. Full lockers have inter-axle and both have diff locks Partial or half lockers is inter-axle and 1 diff lock. Hope that helps
I’m glad to have new vanilla trucks and I will find a use for them if it’s a highway tanker truck or something but I’ve always sort of thought that the paid separate truck packs should be a little better vehicles then what’s in the main phases of the game. Just so you get that slight edge to who ever is paying a bit more. So I’m a little disappointed in the lack of AWD and diff lock. Same with the new phase 8 trucks coming.
These trucks definitely belong and they're worth the buy in my opinion even though I really wish that at least one if not all had AWD and diff lock options but it stands to reason since these are primarily highway trucks. Yet, in spite of the illogical highway physics, all we really need is a highway trucking phase in order for us to exploit these as well as our other highway trucks in the game, all the devs really need to do is fix the sliding problem once we get a truck up to speed but aside from that, I would love to see an actual highway trucking phase.
There’s a mod for Kenworth W990 with the optimus prime paint scheme. Trucks name is the Delta Hércules i believe. It’s really good truck. Has AWD and lockers and pretty good off-road tires.
I’m doing the Tennessee map right now and I bought the dlc. As soon as I left the garage I got stuck in the mud….. in front of my garage. So mad none of these are 4wd and differentials
I wonder how it does at moving oversized loads over hilly terrain. I had to try to move that massive pump trailer using the Tatra T813 (which at the time was my best heavy truck) while trying to unlock the Tatra Force and Phoenix, and one time the T813 got stuck so bad I wiggled it around and winched to different things for about 15 minutes before I finally decided it was stuck. Then I brought a Pacific P16 over, detached the T813 from the trailer, attached the P16, and despite only being RWD, it pulled that trailer loose with the help of a winch in no time. This new truck looks quite heavy, and has crazy torque. Maybe that's its purpose.
@@Just_Waitin_For_A_Mate I thought it was mainly its weight that made the difference, as I had high-centered that trailer at the crest of a hill. The T813, even with an advanced heavy winch, couldn't tilt down that hill or move forward. The P16 immediately seemed heavier, and its added weight, along with a winch attaching to trees in front of it downhill, almost seemed to pry the front of that trailer up and over the ridge it got stuck on. The grip must have helped too, though.
One of my favorite trucks to use it in this pack, the one without the dead axles. It might be better for them to add trucks more suited for the game, but a truck like that 57x is just fun to use. We shouldn't have it, but it's nice to have in the game as an option for variety.
Fingers crossed for phase 3 perhaps. Would indeed love to see how they "fix" the highway physics. These heavy-duty trucks are only capable to go on some dirt construction sites. Hauling heavy equipment to these sites (including mining sites) would be awesome!
We have half our fleet swapped out for 49X trucks like the one on the trailer. Low top, coffin sleeper. 600hp Detroit and the 12sp in the first run we got, the more recent ones we were able to order with an 18sp manual. Of course they're loaded with axle and diff locks. We don't need front drives but I wouldn't be surprised if it's an option. Being official licensed stuff, I expected the interiors to be accurate. I thought about picking up this dlc, but knowing that the capabilities of these things are so damn limited, I'm gonna have to pass right now. I would bet that these options will be added in the future since that's been done before and if that's the case, I won't mind picking them up. Keep us posted on these for sure because they are desirable and if the capabilities are added down line I think they'll sell more of em.

Probably the only thing I would use it for taking the mechanic service trailer to a trail head too service damaged trucks but, there's way better trucks for it
This 57X is best for Wisconsin highways at most if not any road. It’s ok on that map since I usually treat it as a “ yard dog” moving empty trailers from warehouse to warehouse and or garages
After trying it out the 57X is surprisingly capable, though it does need weight at the back to have some grip and you really need to plan your route ahead since it isn't capable of handling rocks or deep mud. Pretty weird that only one of the trucks has diff lock, since an engageable diff lock is basically standard issue on any truck made in the past half a century (including those meant for highways) Also, these trucks really need to be put into the highway class. In easy mode this would have no effect, but in hard mode they would really benefit from the cheaper repairs and teleportation.
The lack of diff locks on the 57 is frustrating, because you can get them on highway trucks. Maybe penny pinchers in Texas order trucks without them, but any state with snow all trucks have diff lock. Tire chains are useless without a power divider lock and diff lock. And yes pretty much all agriculture and construction equipment can have diff locks. It like horse power is a concept game developers don't understand. I personally don't care that these trucks are highway vehicles mainly cause I just love western stars but I do wish they add a region dedicated to highway related contracts but u personally love these trucks

with this truck specifically, it seems more like we are paying for the western star name than anything else. would be great for navigating michigan and alaska quickly late game, if you had already moved your more off roady options to other maps, but outside of that i dont see a point and its not a great point to start with. That being said, its interesting they chose specifically this truck wjth these options, as it highly resembles the optimus prime truck in transformers age of extinction and the last knight.
I'm gonna keep using old school trucks on this game, as I drive a Freightliner Cascadia daily and rather not drive it in game. Gonna keep using my White western star and Ford CLT 9000
On Michigan this a probably decent truck, but for other region it's a bad truck. I really do hope these truck get at lease a diff Lock for the switch release
4:29 Heey I didn't know I was part of this DLC lol 😆 just joking, still a pretty cool truck non the less i just think it doesn't really quite fit in snowrunner because you can only do so much with it and off-roading seems to be a bit iffy.
It is a clearance issue, in the you got stuck in the deep mud when it sunk too deep and and pulled your self out when you high centered your self on the way out. There is many missions that have roads to in them like Smithville dam, you use this guy to get your mud trucks to the front or get the loads too them. this though that people have that one truck as to do the whole run is stupid. why drive for 15 min in the Klob when you can do the some thing with this in 5 and hand off the load.

11:30 It's called a power divider in some trucks, but it's a diff lock and it's available on most (if not all) real world semi trucks
Hello there Diesel
The power divider is actually the inter axle lock, it locks both or all drive axles together and is separate from the differential locks.
And even if a truck manufacturer doesn't offer it, you could probably get an aftermarket locking system.

4:29 Heey I didn't know I was part of this DLC lol 😆 just joking, still a pretty cool truck non the less i just think it doesn't really quite fit in snowrunner because you can only do so much with it and off-roading seems to be a bit iffy.
It might be good in mud with the fine-tune or offroad gearbox, NOT the highrange which is probs why it didnt do good in tye mud for you
Im thinking about buying this one
Hey TC the six stacks are from Optimus Prime in the new Transformers Moives
This DLC is good for roleplay but that’s about it. Maybe modders can fix it.
Now if they'd add a optimus prime livery for the 57x I'd be complete
It is a clearance issue, in the you got stuck in the deep mud when it sunk too deep and and pulled your self out when you high centered your self on the way out.
There is many missions that have roads to in them like Smithville dam, you use this guy to get your mud trucks to the front or get the loads too them. this though that people have that one truck as to do the whole run is stupid. why drive for 15 min in the Klob when you can do the some thing with this in 5 and hand off the load.
