my dad is mennonite and my mom is English. They got married on September 2,1956 and had nine kids and my parents raised us as mennonite and English. We had a mennonite farm and farm animals and my parents worked my dad work for the town highway department and as the town volunteer fire chief and homeschool us kids and our mom worked as a head nurse for the whole hospital and head nurse for the emergency room and the ICU. My dad passed away in 1994 and my mom passed away in 2011. I'm a Mennonite and married to my husband is Amish. We have Three daughters and one son. So we are raising our daughters as mennonites and our son as Amish.
My great-grandfather was a New Yorker who married a Mennonite lady (second marriage). Idk how how they met, but when he moved into her house in York, PA, he insisted on having plumbing put in. You're Italian...were you raised Catholic? What's the story there?
Sooooo I family was nominally Catholic until I was eight years old...then the left the Catholic church and went to an assortment of charismatic churches over the years. 20 years agos I went back to the Catholic church...I still consider myself Catholic though I attend a Mennonite church with my husband.
I remember a Denny's coffee stop too. Also remember when we went to a concert at LMH and the look of adoration was adorable. Just like the movies. So glad for youboth. Good to hear your perspective. Love you Kris!
sorry missed the livestream. wife and I intended to visit the homestead last week but we ended up at Amish view on 340 due to family obligations. Great trip until we had to evacuate due to the fire. smoke very bad in the hallways so emergency exits were not visible. My wife found an exit and about 10 of us got out. Many guests had to jump out windows. just thought you would like a first hand account. wife and enjoying the vids and we thank you.
Oh my gosh.i read about that in the news. Funny/sorry you were there. I am glad you are safe. I will tell you this if you get in the area another time, we've never read anyone jumping out of windows here at the Homestead 😊
I have arrived. We know each other. LOL - I don't think this is a story that I ever heard, even when we used to see each other a lot. Saw the FB post and had to come over and watch this.
I think it would be more apt to say that the Amish and the Mennonites eat a little bit more healthy because many raise the food that they eat. This doesn't mean that they are always raising food organically as we sometimes define it. For example. Scott's family, when he grew up, used fertilizers and sprays on the garden plants before they began to bear fruit.

Wow! Sounds like quite the mix. I know I am trying to figure out how raising a family with two faiths would work.
Always enjoy your videos. Look forward to your impending one.
It fantastic to have you along for the ride!

We went to a concert at LMH? What concert was that? It's good to hear from you too.
I don't remember, but you wore an adorable pillbox hat and coat combo. Was it a Phil Keagy? Or someone like that? There were several of us there. 😆

Very sweet story!

Do Amish and Mennonite always eat organic?

I remember those kids!
I'll bet you do!
