  • Romancing Mode is more or less the same as expert mode for most other bosses except for the final boss or post game boss who get VERY strong, difficult and tough. Though from my experience, Dread Queen is easier than the final boss oddly enough since this was done in one try. New Game + on Expert Mode is probably the best way to play, Romancing Mode can get ridiculous with the final boss and the echoes of the Seven Heroes.
    General Tip -
Evasions definitely help here though you can ignore the status only ones if you wear the Intaglio Rings or Poker Face Ability. Besides the ones I mentioned, you should try to get evasions such Trample from the Ice Dragon on the Snowdrift and other stuff such as Poison Mist, Super Sonic and Reverse Delta.
Her Phase 1 doesn’t really do much as she somewhat waste turns with stat debuffs, just equip the Intaglio Rings. As usual, hope she doesn’t do AOE hits and only does ST hits on your tank. If she does do her Staff Strike, use Firewall to mitigate it. I just ended the fight before she could do it, lol. Make sure to have and build up your Overdrive gauge before entering Phase 2.
Her Phase 2 is easily trivialized by using Miss Shield as she starts doing wind damage for some reason. However, end the fight quickly, show no hesitation! Though she does waste turns casting stat debuffs on you at times.
I recommend getting Umbrology for Shadow Servant which doubles your action, do note it may get dispel by hits. Also you CANNOT use Reviver with Shadow Servant, they overwrite each other.
Also the names of each class have different stats so they may factor into the win.
    Gear and Abilities -
Final Emperor: Dragonscale Axe Lv100, Terra Blade(Elixir), Willguard+, Seven Armor, Mighty Helm+, Beast Gaunlets, Feather Boots+, Intaglio Ring. Tech Damage+, United Ravager, Penny Pincher, United Attack Connoisseur.

If you want more details, look at the description. If I missed anything, feel free to ask. Also the reward from beating this boss on Romancing Mode difficulty (th-cam.com/users/postUgkx02A46o1XNdUoduRQkxpm26pXPFYh3tsB?si=xK8iiGNALHQrOHgF)
Also for the post game Seven Heroes gear, I recommend getting them from Easy - Expert runs, their Romancing mode versions makes too sturdy to get a clear under 5 turns.

I actually had more trouble on this than you did, it took me a few tries. Then, I replaced the intangilo ring on my IGF with a quickness ring to better guarantee my party went first, and things went a LOT smoother. Yeah, my IGF would get paralyzed sometimes, but it didn't matter.
I also put Bonecrusher as my 4th evasion because she seemed to use that more; it would break Shadow Servant and was annoying.
In hindsight, my strategist wasn't doing much except shitty DPS. I never had to cast Restoration; she generally doesn't do much AOE damage, and when she did, it tended to kill off party members rather than weaken them So if I were to do it again, I may replace my strategist with another melee DPS. Maybe Imperial Guard Male.
The final phase of the second form is a major RNG fest. She gets into that phase if she starts a turn at below 50% health.
Simply put, if you don't end the fight quickly once you get to this point, you die horribly. She gets 5 actions per turn, and one of those actions is Rain of Death, an AOE that inflicts instant death on all party members at a VERY high success rate. Simply put, if you let her have a turn when this happens, your chances of survival are slim to none.
The best way to mitigate this is get her as close to 50% as possible without phasing her, and make sure you have 2 overdrive bars. (or enough to do 2 united attacks with the penny pincher discount). She won't phase instantly when you take her 50%, she'll phase on her next turn. Make sure all your allies are up AND you have 3 DPS with Shadow Servant, AND her defense is debuffed with Nutcracker. Then, 2 united attacks should kill her.
The RNG thing that can screw you is if she does her poison breath attack (I forget the name); it hits all party members and removes Shadow Servant. If she does that, you most likely lose; so the goal would be to make sure she has as few actions as possible between your two united attacks.

Whew! If I revisit this game, it'll be just a normal game, non NG+, on Classic DIfficulty. I think that's the most fair way to play the game. It's difficult, but not insanely so. I found Expert on NG+ too easy, Romancing fairly challenging except for the final bosses which were insane RNG fests.
Classic non-NG+ is just as challenging as Romancing NG+, without the bullshit bosses. :)

@@Denny-Thray Yea, endgame Romancing fights are very RNG fest.
My Strategist here was more of healer that can do DPS. Restoration here helped a bit too. Also Missle Shield/Reviver/Firestorm user.
Yup, reaching her 50% on Phase 2 is where you need to end things before it gets out of hand. Rain Of Death can be avoided with Fire Wall actually.
Tbh, Romancing was definitely fun but the Final Boss, Post Game Boss and the shades of 7 heroes within 5 turns were ridiculous.

I'm just saying, you just KNOW a boss won't be fun when double 99,999 damage barely gives the overall health a sliver of decrease.

Question about the Seven Heroes' shades right before the Termite Queen: If you are having too much trouble on the higher difficulty, notably with ones like Dantarg, could you technically cheese it by switching the difficulty to casual or something, then switching back to Expert, beat the queen, and you'll get the BP Hoarder ability?

@@RichardDong68 You can do that BUT you can’t go to Expert ever again in that. You can only down, not up.

You could beat the Dread Queen on Expert, save your game, then load it and turn down the difficulty to beat the Seven Heroes.

Do you have to have Shadow Servant be leveled up all the way to level 100 for it to double your attack? Or will it work as long as you simply unlock the tech?

I think most wind attacks are considered range?
