Similar p type semiconductor has free holes but it not have any net charge because it's each atom(including impurities ) has equal number of protons and electrons. I hope it make sense for you..
Ok free electrons do not mean that thing is charged so why does filling the holes result in Potential? Shouldnt it stay neutral if it was neutral to Beginn with?
