    Hey Beautiful People! My house was trashed by my standards. This is definitely an extreme cleaning motivational clean with me video. I know my basement is a mess, but guys give me a break because I'm trying with work and motherhood. Hope you enjoy!
    My name is Shyvonne (Sha-Von). I'm a mother of 6 amazing kids. I'm currently married, but Hubby and I are separated and live in two separate homes (TMI). I love having a big family and wouldn't trade it for the world. I have 5 daughters and 1 son, ages 20-5. My son is 12 and the twins are 5. As a big family, we have so much to do and get done in the day so this is a glimpse into our one of our evening routines. I hope you enjoy.

    A tip for dirty clothes. Buy garbage cans with tops. On the top write in big letters on each one. Whites, Darks, Colors. I also marked one with dress clothes. These become a clothes hampers... get the BIG Garbage Cans. Don’t go small. Then do rounds for each for example on Monday is all white days. All the white clothes in that garbage laundry can gets washed dried and put alway in everyone’s draws. Then on Tuesdays it’s color clothes day etc...you get the idea. This will make your life better... good luck

      DryLoc paint for basement walls. The yellow is so pretty and looks like creamed butter. I live underground and we used it on our 2nd bedroom, concrete walls. Then yes some rubbermaid shelving units. Brighten it up and organize. Laundry baskets marked whites, lights, darks, towels...anything to save time when doing laundry.

A dehumidifier would dry this space right up and keep the musty smell away. You could run the dehumidifier tube right to the drain in the floor. I think it would be a game changer for the space.

    We had the same type of walls in our house when we moved in 15 years ago. My husband is in waterproofing for a company. There is something that you can buy called Drylock. It comes in a gallon just like paint. It rolls on real thick. you could do it on your floor and your walls and it will help with some of the water leakage. It’s not 100% waterproof but it does help a lot. I hope this helps.

    Good job😂Just a few thoughts and this is no judgement- but after you clean up down there u can spray with some bleach , let it dry out n paint with some kilt paint either use plastic bins with tops or get some storage shelving. Also I suggest you get the washer and dryer off the floor as u said it flood down there an that will rust out your machines👍🏽! I used to have an old basement like yours a little kill paint helped so much and shelving went a long way! Good job tho

      Shyvonne Melanie TV - you may not be able to use the laundry pedestals , and if not- you could get @4-6 cinder blocks or some type of bricks , 3/4 inch wood cuts for both the size of ur washer n dryer and have them placed on those. At least they would b off the floor just in case of flooding. I know the pedestal s are mostly for front load washers/ dryers. Hope this helps😊👍🏽

      I wouldn't do that if it's not a forever house sure maybe buy some spray paint and go over the walls but I'd just honestly throw up a foldable table off the ground or high shelves since it floods to put your baskets and clothes in. I'd also pick up some crates or center blocks to out your washer and dryer on since it does flood in there to extend their life and not rust or ruin the bottoms.

Also, you mention on previously videos you are considering moving the kitchen table out of the kitchen. Perhaps you can move the table in the basement and use it as a folding station or to keep the baskets off the floor. Also, to help with storage in the kitchen, purchase a small island with shelves at the bottom to store items and the top part would help as a work station. I love your channel. Period!!!!!!!!!!

    Great video as always. I have an unfinished basement and yes it's a pain. I clean it regularly now. But when I first moved into this house it was a train wreck. I grew up in a house with a beautiful finished basement, then moved into a townhouse with no basement. I recommend keeping it dry, sweeping the floor and try to stay on top of the laundry and no cardboard boxes on plastic containers for storage.

  • @AccessoriesAddict5528

    Hey....great job!! 👍🏾 Go on Amazon and order some food grade Diatomaceous Earth. It comes in powder form. You use it like boric acid only it works wayyyyy better. Put it down in your basement, (or anywhere else in your home), for bugs. Just make sure, of course, that it's out of the way, in corners, along walls, behind your washer and dryer, etc. This powder dries out bugs exoskeletons, and you will see IMMEDIATE results!! When you're putting it down make sure you're wearing a mask because you don't want to breathe in any backlash (smoke/dust) from the powder but once it's down, it's totally safe to breathe, that's why you get the "food grade version" which by the way, can also be used for many health benefits! Hope this helps.

    Shyvonne, I feel the same about basements, they kinda creep me out. Two suggestions: 1) Put a small portable radio down there in a safe spot high up away from the floor/water. When you go down there, bring one of the kids, play the radio and it makes it more cheerful while you do laundry 2) Buy a couple boxes of Seven Mule team Borax at Walmart in the detergent aisle. If you sprinkle a line of Borax on the basement floor along the walls, it will keep out & kill the bugs! Roaches, ants, spiders will stay away or die if they walk thru. It's safe to use around your kids, but it keeps bugs away! You could also sprinkle a little in the bottoms of your trash can and laundry baskets to keep bugs out, and it's good for your clothes. Plus it smells fresh. Great job down there; you are teaching your kids well! You're a model mother! 🌻🌻🌻

    Hi Shyvonne,
    You and the kids did an awesome job in the basement. Just a suggestion, to get rid of bugs, try a few drops of peppermint oil in a spray bottle. Works like magic! To get ahead on laundry if you have a lot at one time, try going to a laundromat to wash n dry more than one load at a time. I have a washer n dryer at home, but I go to the laundromat to wash up my throws, comforters, and blankets. A product called “Kiltz” at Home Depot or Lowe’s will brighten and take away the damp musty smell in the basement. Love your videos, as always TFS!! Love you guys. 🥰

      @ShyvonneMelanieTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dee Banks! Great suggestion on the peppermint and the laundromat. I've done that a couple of times with the laundromat because it does help. I will try the Kiltz product as well. I just need the bugs to lessen. I have a dehumidifier, but it doesn't really help if you ask me.

    Hi Shavonne,. I understand not wanting to go in the basement, they can be creepy. But, can you ask the landlord, if you are renting to paint it. That would make a world of difference. Then it will not look so creepy. My opinion, just a thought. I hope you get satisfaction with your endeavors. I will pray for you and your family. God is with you and your children. I love your channel.

    You need 2 washer and dryers!!! Shelves/cabnets for bottles.Tall slorting bins for cloths. I keep 4 big plastic laundry baskets from walmart, in basement to sort cloths. Everyone brings their basket in and sorts into dark, lights & whites. We do laundry every day to keep up. Good job everyone!!!

    Enjoy watching you. Like your music too. You are real life....I always think, boy I wish she'd come clean my house. I watch mostly on TV so don't get to comment. One comment, you have that great dining room so I'd get rid of that table in the kitchen and put some cabinets, storage there in that corner, maybe something with a small surface on a part that might pull up and down with a couple stools. Really like the house. I feel same as you about raw basements.

    Great job here!! Fantastic teamwork! This is gonna sound silly but I was afraid of basements too...until I hung Christmas lights all over!🤗 You can use clear lights or multi color...whatever you like - but there’s something so comforting about Christmas lights that it makes it less scary, lol! Some fun lights & a folding table and that’ll be a real pleasant space to do laundry in! Anyway, love this video - a REAL disaster we all face, not just picking up a few toys or dishes like most of these videos...no this the is REAL MOTIVATION I need!! This IS my house!! Thx so much for sharing!! Love seeing those beautiful babies!!🤗💓💙xoxo

    Hello 👋 for I am watching your video. And I remember experiencing something like this when my kids were little. We all feared the basement.. So I decided to buy a metal, sturdy shelving unit. But, when I put together the last shelf we didn’t include it. This way if the water rises it wouldn’t get to the clothes or our stuff.
    And the extra shelf we got some sturdy metal hinges and created a shelf on the wall..
    We didn’t place anything to heavy on it but, I did put the detergent and fabric softener each in a light weight container with a cover.. This most definitely worked so much better.
    Anyways that’s all I wanted to share with you.
    It’s always a pleasure seeing you..
    The other day my granddaughter Isabella and I watched you together virtually she just turned 8 years old. My son Brandon is in the Military and at the moment they have sent him away on a job. So since I’m unable to travel this is how I spend my quality time with her.. 🥰❤️
    THANK YOU 😊

    I absolutely hate basements as well. My two older children help out with laundry as much as they can but sometimes they just be rushing to get it done. Also there are like 5 sets of steps to get to the basement. My grandmother owns a two family duplex. We have the top two levels, shes on the first floor and then there is the basement. There's no way I'm walking up and down all the steps with baskets of clothes.

    • @ShyvonneMelanieTV

    Definitely suggest a dehumidifier for your basement. It will help with the moisture. And for the walls, clean with bleach, allow to dry then paint with Kilz (you can find at most hardware stores and even Walmart) to help keep the mold from coming through.

    I have my washer and dryer on pallets with a piece of cardboard on top of the pallets. You also need a de-humidifier down there. There are dehumidifiers out there that shut off when the bucket gets full. Good Luck!

    • @valerieann2751
      @valerieann2751 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cindy Duff You can also run a little hose from the dehumidifier to the drain in the floor, that way it will keep on running and you won’t have to empty it.
      I got those shelves that are used in the garage for all my basement storage. And kept most everything in the Rubbermaid tubs with sealed lids.
