    wow I remember the old menlo mall. used to go there with my mom all the time (she bought her prom dress at the macys there in 1966), especially arcadian gardens which she always liked to hit first when we got there, she loved that place. she passed this past march & when the video came around to arcadian & I could see some of the inside my heart stopped, haven't seen any of that since back then. thank you for sharing this.

    Wow I can close my eyes and walk the inside of this old mall in my head. My mom took me there all the time as a kid, KBToys, then the arcade at the other end of the mall. Seeing this video reminded me so much of how it looked. Thanks so much for posting this.

    Arcadian Gardens was a cool place. If I remember correctly that was the Alexander's my dad worked at for a while in the 70s, as a second job.

    I remember my parents dropping me and my sister off at the Cinema out across the street to see The Empire Strikes Back, then coming to pick us up and take us back into the mall to get cookies at that place in the main mall across from the Macy's entrance...Cookie Factory? With the big yellow, cartoon looking pipes and lights. Great memories.

      @morlockmeat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it was The Cookie Factory! Brilliant idea to have those big stovepipes pumping out the smell of those baking cookies! What a memory!

    Now this was the REAL AND ORIGINAL menlo park mall!

    • @AWSmith1955
      @AWSmith1955 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the original was an open campus style mall. no roof over the center. just wide overhangs and about 35 feet of sky.

    This was great to see! What a shame there's no footage of the inside of the mall. I practically grew up there!
    Does anybody remember the famous Ice Man that was on display in the old mall, back in the 70's? It was supposed to be an "actual" frozen caveman in a block of ice! Everybody got a big kick out of it!

      pinklilac7 Thanks for your comment. Yes, I did video tape the activities going on in the game room by Pathmark. To this day I still can't find it amongst my unlabled VHS collection.

    • @pinklilac7
      @pinklilac7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, hopefully one day. lol. Oddly I can't place Pathmark in the mall. Was this actually in the mall or by it? I remember the Woolworths, Arcadian Gardens, Alexanders, among some of the smaller stores. I wish my parents at least took a few pictures in there back in the day...

    • @kendulce555
      @kendulce555  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pinklilac7 Pathmark was by the Arcadian Gardens. Pathmark moved out and The Wiz moved in early 90's. The Wiz moved out and a Flea Market moved in. Today it's an Asin Restaurant. I don't know the name. But years ago that was Pathmark.

      @@kendulce555 over the years, from that Wiz, we bought a camcorder, and a Compaq Presario computer, and when I was old enough, I bought myself a Toshiba 19" stereo TV. I still have it to this day, but its on a shelf in my basement !

      Between 1990-1991, with the mall going through an expansion (with the second floor being added), and the former Alexander’s being demolished in favor for Nordstrom to be built.

    If I'm not mistaken, the spot where Alexanders was is now an indoor parking area
