  • Here in the book The Lamentations of Jeremiah, we read beautiful, but heart-breaking poetry, as Jeremiah pours out his heart for Jerusalem, that has been destroyed. He anguishes over the devastating loss of the beautiful city and the relationship between it and God. He acknowledges that the sins of the people who abandoned their God led to the fracture of relationship; and from Babylon, where they are in captivity, longs for the people to return to God. Further, he waits for God to restore the remnant of faithful people back to Zion.
