One of the latest ways that fraudsters are tricking individuals is in the guise of updating eKYC, where a fraudster will ask you for crucial information like Aadhaar card and bank account details among others while acting as a service provider.
We come across these things on a daily basis and yet fall for such a trap despite regular warnings from banks, service providers, and the central bank.
As recently as this week, a Whatsapp message was being sent to customers to upload eKYC and to provide the contact number, else the number will be disconnected. Once you call that number, they ask you to download the Team Viewer app, which then gives the fraudster access to and control of the phone.
