Even though the acting, the expressions could be a lot more polished, I like the approach of this less weak, less demure Ophelia! It's a fresh look on the character, I think.
It works much better when she tries to return to him genuinely rich gifts, like diamonds, rather than letters and poems. In fact, it seems unlikely that there was sufficient time for Hamlet to compose many written remembrances in the four months since he's returned from Wittenberg.
You are wrong. Ophelia is shown as Hamlet's equal ,which she is.Usually she is potrayed as an insgnificant teeager with no mind of her own to lose.Well done by both actors.
@AnnieDancingPrincess Actually, a soliloquy is to be delivered to the audience, not to be spoken to oneself. Teachers often it is to oneself because the character is alone on stage, but this completely ignores the intimate relationship between spectacle and spectator, actor and audience in Shakespeare's dramatic technique. It's called playing out, and it's not just for asides. Problem is this actor lacks vocal variety and is merely "painting the lines" with a general emotion instead of acting.
At least costuming and makeup were clever here, with Hamlet feminine (with eye makeup visible) and Ophelia being low-class and tramp-like (with bra strap showing).
A real director wouldn't...in a REAL production where truthful, organic and technically mastered acting would be the key to a successful performance. All of this was quite amateur as it was forced, non specific in each moment and overly sentimental, which are all massive negatives.
Five years later and this couldn’t be more true. Yet, that’s what I think is so hard about Hamlet. And more specifically this scene. Watching multiple versions of this it seems that show Hamlet genius is difficult, making it easier to fall into his “emo” side. Along with that, present how mad Hamlet has become now, for me at least, is even harder. You can truly see that in this as you said. Very forced. As if the director said, do this because blah blah blah.
So far, he is the cutest Hamlet I've seen. But in my opinion he needed a bit of work while expressing emotions. And Ophelia as well.
I personally like how he's not overdramatic, seems more authentic and realistic.
And wow 12 years ago
He’s great he kind of sounds like will shatner Captain Kirk I’m doing this exact scene for a school project
"I'm only watching this for a lame school assignment," gang, take a cookie. 🍪

I appreciate how they are not “over-acting.” It feels very authentic and real to me.
I worked backstage during my school's production of Hamlet as props manager. Our Hamlet was a female--and absolutely mind-blowing
Zoe Fang That is so inspiring! I’m in Hamlet right now and i’m a girl, lol and it’s honestly very challenging!
This really helped me to figure out how to act out this scene for my school assessment. Thanks for posting this :)
this was really awkward to watch

I hate that so many directors cling to the idea that Hamlet needs to be a the prettiest boy at the audition.
He's a Prince... He would be handsome
digging hamlet's style. thanks for the vid, I'm using it as ref for a competition.

This was helpful for learning this story. I have no appreciation for Shakespeare but thanks for this video.
Hottest Hamlet of all along with David Tennant's Hamlet!!
They skipped some lines and messed up a bit
@SomeKnowMeAsWesto It's a soliloquy...he should be talking to himself. I don't think he should be looking at the camera or the audience.

Hottie-Hamlet
Liked the Hamlet, brilliant to me. Ophelia needs some work though. Thumbs up
They didn't understand the words. Too young to play both parts, they have yet to have enough life experiences. The emotions was not raw enough.
Maybe... Yes possibly
OMG ONE OF THE BEST HAMLETS
hamlet looks hot.
