Wow I had no idea that meerschaum pipes were created from whale vagi…, um, I always learn so much from your channel!! Haha! Hey awesome video buddy, as a pirate piper and sculptor I’ve always been very interested in meerschaum pipes! There are so many beautiful one of a kind carved pipes that are absolutely amazing! Most people probably don’t even have a clue about the amount of time it takes to hand sculpt these designs and the artistry involved, they are truly mini masterpieces! Again as a sculptor I really do appreciate this art and have massive respect and admiration for them! And there are tons of them carved like pirates and skulls so of course I nerd out on those, haha! Anyway, awesome giveaway and awesome topic buddy, I really did learn a ton! And now I’m heading straight over to check out MBSD! That 200 year old pipe is freaking insane, LOVE IT! Oh yeah, I’M IN! Cheers🍻☠️🏴☠️👍😜
You’re 100% right! These are literally small masterpieces! The fact that someone literally sat down and sculpted these by hand just blows my mind! And honestly, after seeing some of your work, if you ever get into sculpting briar or meerschaum, you could make some AMAZING art pipes! Seriously, we should talk! 🔥 But yeah, some of the pirate themed pipes are awesome! I’ve seen a couple of Davy Jones designs lately that I’m having a hard time resisting. 😂
I'm in. Yeah!!! My first meerschaum is now 35 years old. I have 18 meers and last month for March Meerschaum Madness I smoking at least one everyday and went them all at least twice. My favorite meer is one that my sister brought for me in Turkey from the actual carver, It's a beauty. Thought I would let you know. Ed.
Oh wow! I’ll bet your old one has some great color! That’s awesome that you have one from the actual artist in Turkey! I’d love to go there one day and have one commissioned in person! 🔥
Hahaha. I REALLY wanted too! 😂 I’m actually thinking about buying one now though. Maybe they’ll cut me a deal since I’m talking up their brand so much. Lol.
Yeah, I highly recommend it! It’s funny that you mentioned great cobs though. I was literally just sitting on an airplane looking at cobs! I’ve had them in the past and loved them but I don’t actually have one right now. 🔥
Nice! You know I love a Peterson meer! I can’t wait to see it and hear your thoughts. Will this be one of your New Pipe Tuesday videos? BTW, your collection of pipes now is awesome!

Yeah, I don’t actually have any Falcons yet, but I did recently get a meer bowl for my Peacemaker (Which is the same size/threading as Falcons) and I love it! I’m actually about to buy a few more! 🔥
Yeah, absolutely! I would recommend at least checking one out at your local B&M, just to feel how light they are. It’s actually surprising when you can feel it for yourself! 🔥
Funny I spent about two hours just last night on eBay looking at the block meerschaum pipes. Man there are some beauty's. I almost put in some bids but ended up pulling the trigger on a clay cutty instead. One day I will get a meerschaum but out of respect I will bow out of this contest as I was the winner of the last one. Speaking of coloring up that Bones pipe is coloring very nicely. Cheers to the winner of this beautiful meerschaum!!! Good luck folks!!
Hey Droid! I’m so glad to hear that your Bones is working out! And yeah, I love clay pipes too! In fact, the second that I can get my hands on a mold, I want to start making them and literally send them to everyone that I know. 😂
I've honestly thought about trying to make one. That may be down the road a bit though haha! Let me know when you get ahold of a mold. I'd be very curious about the details. Cheers !
Update: I arrived home from work today to find my new clay in the mailbox. It was poorly packaged and the stem was snapped in two.😞 Steps have been taken to get compensated. I called it before it was even opened just by the looks of the packaging. Sheesh...
Im in! Love your videos! I too am a meerschaum fan, and have several. I have purchased inexpensive meer pipes, and have also commissioned more expensive meer pipes by artisan carvers. I am trying to find a meerschaum pipe maker, however, that has solved the "cheap tenon" issue that meers seem to have.
Thanks a lot, Greg! Yeah, that’s definitely the trick! That’s why, traditionally I’ve leaned toward Peterson meers. I really like their quality, but they’re also African meerschaum, rather than Turkish, so they typically don’t color much, if at all.
I'm in. MBSD has some really cool looking pipes! I bought my first block meerschaum at the Mule Town Pipe Show this year and it broke as soon as I got home for no determinable reason. Pretty sure it was defective. But I glued it back together and it smokes fine.
Awe man! I’m sorry to hear that! Which part broke? It may have had a tiny invisible crack that just got worse when you tried to smoke it? I’m glad to hear it’s still working for you though!
I'm in! I have limited experience with meerschuam due to the fact that I only have 1. The one meer I have has a poor draw to it, and because of that i dont smoke it. As requested, I also went to MBSDs etsy and ebay stores, and was impressed by their antique meers, and the pricing on their newer pipes. Thank you for setting up the contest, and good luck to everyone else who entered!
Ah, that’s a shame about your poor experience! Do you think the draught hole just needs to be widened? Mine are actually some of my best smokers. Even if you don’t win this one, I’d highly recommend getting at least one more for your collection.
I'm in! I still have yet to pick one up. I've had my eye on quite a few lately but, haven't pulled the trigger. I like the look, the history. The fact that it's a solid work horse that grows and ages with you as long as you take care of it like you do yourself!
Totally! I’ve literally smoked mine all day long, and never had to worry about over heating or ghosting. Plus, the thought that my descendants 200 years from now could be using the same pipe blows my mind! 🤯
I love that meerschaum gets better with age. Watching these pipes change is in some ways better than actually smoking. Also I love how cool they smoke.
I'm in! Went to a friend house and randomly talked about smoking a pipe. He said he actually had a Meerschaum pipe in his room. Long story short, he lit up his pipe and we both spent the better half of the night outside catching up. Ever since then, I've been on the hunt. I will be checking out their website to see what they have. Would be cool to have a pipe to use in christening the first light of Erik Stokkebye4th Gen jubilaeums flake 2012-2022!
Count me in! I do not own a meerschaum...yet. I've been piping for just over a year now, and haven't pulled the trigger on one... yet. I hear they come close to clays as far as flavor purity- it would be interesting to try some of my favorite blends and compare them to my briar, cob and morta pipes. Great giveaway!
Totally! I actually always try to have new blends in one of my fresher meers. Yeah, the neutral flavor and low ghosting can make a pretty big difference! 🔥
I'm in! My fascination with meerschaum is the craftsmanship that goes into the piece. I love them for aro's and the lack of ghosting. Good luck everyone!
I'm in. I love meerschaum but have not acquired my own meerschaum pipe yet. I love how each piece is unique and will color differently based off the the types of blends that have been smoked through the pipe. Pretty beat materiel if you ask me.
Yeah, I always recommend having a few I’m every collection. And you’re absolutely right! The fact that every hand carved meer is unique, and that uniqueness is accentuated over time as it colors is so awesome! 🔥
I'm in. Have one classic shaped pipe. Haven't smoked it yet. Am waiting to discover the perfect tobacco and exclusively smoke it in that pipe. The coloring process makes it seem like a very organic experience. Good channel... enjoy your content. Peace
Awesome! Great idea! What types of tobacco do you tend to lean toward? My only advice there might be to stay away from exclusively smoking really goopy aromatics. I have no idea if this is true, but I’ve heard that they can “clog” the porousness of the material and slow the coloring process. However, I’ve smoked a lot of lighter aromatics in my favorite meer over the years and that one is coloring perfectly! 🔥
@@markburnham9689 Yeah, Capstan is a great Virginia. And yeah, I’m a huge Tolkien fan too! What do you think about that new Amazon series? I’m still on the fence, but I’m holding out hope!

I’m in! Enjoy your videos and my meerschaum. I have a Rattray’s that was made by SMS I believe. It is my favorite smoker, you cannot beat the truly natural taste and dry smoking qualities of meerschaum. Been wanting to get another one soon so maybe I’ll get lucky🤞😊
Yeah, Rattrays has some really nice looking meers! I was actually just looking at a couple last week. Lol. But yeah, these are easily my best smokers! 🔥
I'm in...I've been watching several videos on meerschaum, the carvers, the mining of the mineral and all of the different shapes that are made. Fantastic pipes I'm sure. Thanks for this opportunity
Yeah, you totally should! These are easily my best smokers! And the good thing is that older/estate meers smoke ever but as well as a brand new one! I’m actually considering buying one of these 200 y/o beauties to actually smoke. Lol
I have a couple meers, but one is too small for me and the other is I believe compressed. Sure would like a quality meer like that, so I'm in! Definitely will check out the links.
Yeah, that’s one of the problems that I’ve found with buying some meers online. A lot of times, there is t really a reference comparison, so it can be really hard to gage the size. This one looks about perfect for me though. 🔥
I’ve wanted to add a meerschaum to the collection for a while. Uniquely beautiful. I spent time in Turkey during college and regret not bringing a meerschaum back with me.
Oh wow! I’ve always wanted to go to Turkey! Where were you? You’re right, that would have been amazing! But yes, everyone should have at least one meer in their rotation! 😀
@@OrderofthePipe I was in Istanbul for four weeks, then spent a week visiting places like Cappadocia, Ephesus, and other areas on the Eastern part of the country. Loved it!
I don't have any meerschaum pipes but have heard a lot about them. The part that interests me the most is that they are hand carved. To me that means one of a kind. Some of the designs they carve are amazing. I would love to add a meer to my collection. I'm in!
Yeah, I love that about them too! The fact that someone literally sat down and hand carved this work of art that I get to enjoy and eventually pass down to my children & grandchildren just blows my mind sometimes! 🤯
Count me in. I've got two meerschaum pipes. One is a calabash with a meerschaum insert and the other is a horn shape. I get a little bit of a chemical taste from meerschaum at the end of the bowl. That's when I know its about out. Do you get that?
No, I’ve never had a chemical taste from any of mine. That’s really strange! I do know however, some compressed meerschaum pipes can have chemical binders added during the manufacturing process. I wonder if that could be it…
I’m in! I look for unique pipes frequently and have only one meerschaum. I find them to be a fantastic smoke so adding to my lineup would be fantastic. What a great give and video. The MBSD Etsy store has great selections and I have a couple on favorites but can’t seem to pull the plug. Good luck everyone!
I'm in dude. I am also definitely going to check out Mbsd since i trust your content. Honestly i haven't found a better material for pipe smoking, i love the fact that u can see the age of a pipe just by its colour, like a warned out paint in the wall of a house. I haven't bought a meerschaum yet afraid iam gonna lose my money on a fake one. Even if i dont win this give away iam definitely buying one from MBDSD. Also i love your videos mate keep up the amazing work💚
I love the aging and the history, knowing that a pipe could be passed down to future generations. I don't own one, but would love one! The claw foot and egg design of your giveaway pipe looks awesome!! I'm also a D&D fan, so that tracks perfectly. Fingers crossed!!
If you have a meerschaum you can tell if it is block or compressed especially if it is new(ish) by moistening your finger and touching the inside of the bowl. With block meerschaum your finger will stick to the inside of the bowl compressed will not. Use the inside of the bowl be cause it is unwaxed.
I’m in! A meerschaum pipe was my first pipe! On a whim I went to a live auction and placed a bid on a meerschaum pipe that was up for auction. I had it for several years. Sadly I decided to part with it (bad decision). A few years later I got back into pipe smoking proper and have always regretted selling that meerschaum. They are absolutely beautiful and would love to add this my collection. Love the channel btw!
I'm a huge MBSD fan and of course huge meershaum fan! I missed the giveaway but was excited about your opinion about the company. I feel the same way. They have always been so helpful in answering my questions and they are the model mom and pop shop! The care they take in the packaging and always adding a nice note, it is an American way of doing business that's hardly practiced these days and I hope it always works for them! I don't see how it couldn't! Tom Schoen
Never owned a meerschaum but need to! From everything I've researched and heard it would make for a fantastic smoke. Thanks for the GAW. Great community and hope to win 🤞🙏
I'm in. I have about a dozen Meerschaum pipes. My oldest is from 1801, and is similar to the loaned one you showed. Yes, I do smoke it occasionally. I would love to have the eagle claw pipe you're giving away. Thanks for the chance.
I’m in! Love using my meerschaums for lightly flavored tobaccos or English blends. The only times I’ve ever smoked multiple bowls back to back they were in a meerschaum.
I'm in, I remember my grandfather had a meerschaum pipe & watching the colors change over the years, sure wish I knew what became of that pipe after his passing. I plan on purchasing one after the economy picks up so I can pass it on to my son.
I'm in. I'll check them out. Stoked at a chance to have a meerschaum. Modest budget so my collection is ....frugal? Still, I love the idea and the history of the meerschaum pipe. Quite romantic in my estimation.
I’ve never smoked a meerschaum pipe, I’m new at this hobby. One of the reasons that I took it up is that my dad smoked pipes and he treasured his meerschaum.
I’ve always wanted a meerschaum pipe I’ve only picked up the pipe a year ago to relax after a stressful day…. It’s been a life saver.. I truly hope to get this pipe as I’d like to hand it down to one of my sons in law
I totally agree William! There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting with a good pipe! There’s a quote that says “a cigar is relaxing but a pipe is relaxation.” 🔥
Yeah, I love that too! My oldest meer is about 20 years old and it was Snow White when I got it, but now it’s a perfect chocolate brown. And it’s still one of my best smokers! 🔥
I'm in! I have a modest & cozy little meer collection currently, and there's always room for 1 more. My thanks to the people of Turkey, especially the Eskisehir masters, for a new opportunity to add in this journey called life. My meers allow "me time", to provide a bit of peace, and just good ol' relaxation. And above all, my meers and I can grow together. Sign me in as a Brother of the White Magical Mystery Bowl.

Yeah, they really are fantastic! And yes, I’ve actually had to stop myself from just going crazy and spending my whole paycheck there! 😂
Also i love your videos mate keep up the amazing work💚
Awesome! Thanks a lot! Yeah, Meerschaum is a material that IMO actually gets batter with age and use. 🔥
Thank you for all the info.
Absolutely! I’m just glad that people are actually willing to listen to my ramblings! 😂
I love the aging and the history, knowing that a pipe could be passed down to future generations. I don't own one, but would love one! The claw foot and egg design of your giveaway pipe looks awesome!! I'm also a D&D fan, so that tracks perfectly. Fingers crossed!!
Also in! All I have are cobs, and have been dying to get my hands on some Meerschaum pipes. Love the fact that my kids will have it when I go!
I'm in! Love the way they color up over time 😊
Absolutely! They just keep getting better over time! 🔥
If you have a meerschaum you can tell if it is block or compressed especially if it is new(ish) by moistening your finger and touching the inside of the bowl. With block meerschaum your finger will stick to the inside of the bowl compressed will not. Use the inside of the bowl be cause it is unwaxed.
I'm in! Never had a Meerschaum pipe and I've already been interested in them. Also, I checked out MBSD....scouts honor (I'm not a scout)
Hahaha. I was a scout a LONG time ago, so I’ll take it! 😂
I'm in. I don't own a meerschaum pipe but I do love the eagle claw.
Absolutely! I actually don’t have one of these myself yet, but the more I look at this one, the more I want one too! 😂
Never smoked a meer but I love the look...hopefully I will win and find out how great they smoke. Thanks for the GAW.
I’m in! Love using my meerschaums for lightly flavored tobaccos or English blends. The only times I’ve ever smoked multiple bowls back to back they were in a meerschaum.
I’m in. I have one meerschaum and another meerschaum lined that is one of my favorites. I’m definitely going to be picking up some more.
I'm in! (I know I'm too late to the party!) I am restoring two meerschaums right now. Checking out the site.
I'm in, I remember my grandfather had a meerschaum pipe & watching the colors change over the years, sure wish I knew what became of that pipe after his passing. I plan on purchasing one after the economy picks up so I can pass it on to my son.
Love your videos! I don't own a Meerschaum yet but can't wait to have one.
like the art of the carving and patina they take on
I'm in. I'll check them out. Stoked at a chance to have a meerschaum. Modest budget so my collection is ....frugal? Still, I love the idea and the history of the meerschaum pipe. Quite romantic in my estimation.
I forgot to mention, the best of luck to everyone.
I'm in! I like Meerschaum because of a nice clean cool smoke, I look forward to getting some nice colour on it.
I love how meerschaum colors over time!
Yeah, I love that too! My oldest meer is about 20 years old and it was Snow White when I got it, but now it’s a perfect chocolate brown. And it’s still one of my best smokers! 🔥
I have one thats two years now. Only a slight tan color. I guess i have to smoke it more :P
Nice video, I’m a big fan of meerschaum pipes too.
Apparently, you don’t seem like you’re quite right in the head and quite frankly, I admire and like that in a person
I'm in. I like all things that follows the wabi sabi Japanese mindset. Meerschaum shows the use over time and develops in its own way.
I am in. I have always admired meersham pipes however I do not own one and have never smoked one.
I'm in - I've never had a meerschaum yet.
Yeah, I really think you’ll love them. I know that I was surprised at how well they performed when I finally got one. 🔥
Love my Meers. I own 6!
Awesome! 🔥 How have they been coloring?
I never got a meerschaum pipe but they look so cool i love to have one
I too love meerschaum pipes
I’m in if possible.
