I rarely watch your videos now.. I like silky montages, but thats not why I used to watch. I miss seeing your everyday life, seeing Greyson reaching milestones, seeing Rufus learn and laugh. Seeing you as parents reach milestones, cheer and cry over the difficulties and joys of being a parent. I truly just miss seeing your life as it is. All the silky's and overlay talking makes me skip ahead og leave the video, I just want to see 2 parents and 2 kids live their everyday life as it is, joys and struggles. Im not saying what you do isn't great, because its amazing but for me it fits more on the cinema screen then in a vlog.
I feel like this aswell i started watching as i could relate as a parent but now its like watching a short film. I loved the basics but what stef does is amazing x
I used to be a regular viewer and watch your videos every Sunday as soon as they were uploaded but now I go weeks without watching and if I do, I find myself just clicking through them. I’ve been watching since when Grayson was a newborn and the reason I used to love watching your videos as they were beautifully filmed but still had the hint of realism that a vlog needs. I found you guys inspiring and loved watching Hannah trawl to the Post Office every week after packing a ton of make up bags. For me, those days were the best days on your channel. I know you say that as a creator you have to keep pushing yourselves to do better but I also think you should remember what made you successful today. Some people don’t like change and tuning into a favourite programme on a Sunday is a bit like putting your comfy pjs on. For some reason, I just don’t enjoy these videos as much as I used to. I don’t enjoy Stefan’s monologues (sorry not trying to be rude) and I feel that they took over the channel for quite a substantial period of time. I miss the old videos where I felt you guys were more relatable and honest, now it just feels like these videos are treated as more like art than a realistic vlog and for me that’s what puts me off. I think the artistic touch put into the older vlogs was a good balance between achieving realism and invoking emotion. Not trying to be harsh, just sharing an insight as to why I no longer watch the majority of your vlogs. I miss those days but respect that you obviously wanted to try something different, it’s just that your different is no longer what I’m looking for when I’m chilling on a Sunday morning. I do however, still enjoy Hannah’s raw vlogs.
Sally Townsend Thank you for putting into words how I feel. Life is a challenge for us all, but listening to Stef go on "complaining/lecturing). I just don't need this in my life. Get a job where you can use all yoyr technical skills but in a vlog it just seems misplaced.
I feel the same way. The monologues can get a tad bit annoying. I do enjoy the creativity too that goes into the videos though but not at the expense of losing some authenticity. Sometimes it comes off as if you’re trying too hard.
I couldn't have said it better myself.Thank you for putting how I felt in words. This video has just popped up on my feed I unsubscribed months and months ago when they changed how they were filming.I used to watch every monday (I am in Australia) before work never missed them then they changed.I understand being a creator and wanting to explore new ideas and techniques.Thats why I just left and never said anything.Because you should do what makes you happy.I just miss the old vlogs.and hope you understand we are not trying to be mean just letting you know why we left..I still enjoy hannah's raw vlogs as well.
I agree. I have to say I'll watch Hannahs vlogs on her channel because they seem a lot more natural and raw instead of this channel now. I don't know why but I also feel like when Hannah and Steff would film themselves chatting it never felt natural, like they're reading off a script.
Better to have fewer viewers who are invested in what you do and truly appreciate your videos than have benign viewers who are greater in number but couldn't give a rats arse about your message. I love the new direction. Onwards and upwards!
I used to watch them religiously but Hannah's moaning and mostly Stefan's change in style to huge, cringy monologues (like in the opening minute of this vid) turned me right off.
I think they had a message in London. Now their “message” feels a bit fake and try hard. As loyal viewers, we were invested in what they created but that investment didn’t hold strong for them when they started changing content even though lots of comments pleaded with them to keep it real like they used to.
Nicola M that's not strictly true, advertisers don't just look at numbers, they look at how receptive an audience is to an influencer and how well they relate to them
When I started watching these videos Hannah was pregnant with Grayson and I was still in secondary school. Now several years later I am working towards my Bachelor's degree and your family has grown another person. I have stayed because this channel reminds me that all that I am doing in my school work and career will lead me somewhere. I love to see the ever-evolving art style and to see what everyone had been up to during the week. You make me laugh and almost as if I read a letter from dear friends I get to hear about your lives. Your videos remind me that my tiny, insignificant life is worthy of its own beauty and joy no matter how small. They help me to reflect on my own life and to think about my own small moments of happiness. Keep up the amazing work and I'll be here to watch until the end. Take care all of you! Much love from the Oregon, USA.
I could try and write the reason i'm watching your video's myself, but I think I couldn't do better than this explanation... This is spot on why I'm watching and since when I'm watching your vids!
Sierra McCutchen Same here. The first video I watched was a baby haul Hannah did before Grayson was born. I don't know what it is that draws me to this channel but I can't imagine not watching it one day! I'd be so disappointed if they had to stop making videos one day. Love you guys!
Honestly, I have to say I am normally a silent watcher. I've been following your little circle for a long time but unsubscribed around 1 year - 1 1/2 ago, however recently resubscribed due to the new video format. Each week I am blown away by the sheer beauty of them and just how much passion/love you can see is poured into each one, they truly are a pleasure to watch. This week I felt compelled to say something. As although you mentioned losing subscribers and touching on your views know that your 'channel 2.0' is also bringing in new watchers, some old, some new but all who love the work you are creating as it's almost as if you are sharing a bit of your soul with us each week. Truly fucking beautiful work!
It’s actually hard to explain why I watch you guys. I guess a good example of that would be my mum. She doesn’t speak a word of English, and yet, every Sunday I find her glued to the TV watching your videos. She has no idea what you’re saying yet your storytelling through video is so strong that it keeps her fully invested the entire time. Honestly, I can’t be more proud of how this channel has evolved. It’s not just about the silky smooth montages, it’s about the emotion you’re able to transfer through them and I can safely say, I’ve never felt a connection so strong as I do to your channel. Change is good and needed, but in your case, I’d just say do what feels good because whatever you decide to do there’s a real passion shining through that which is so rare to find these days. Anyway, I never commented before but this time I really wanted to let you know that what you do is something completely different from other people and whilst it may be harder to find your own ‘big’ audience I think the message you’re able to pass through your videos is far more important and I appreciate it more than you can imagine it. Have a lovely day xx
This will probably never be read but as someone who has been a weekly viewer for years and years (didn‘t miss a single video) I would like to say that what changed for ME is that I cannot relate to you the way I could before. (Some other comment said maybe it is because of the shift from Hannah‘s to your perspective, what might be true. But not only, I think.) As a mom of 2, I often felt drawn into your „normal“ family life. I could adapt to many things you experienced as a couple and in your relationship with Grayson. I felt like I was your friend in a weird way. Whereas right now, I still love you guys and adore the editing, but it feels more like watching a movie than watching real people. I know that you are explicitly trying to be as real as possible, yet still, it has become more of a presentation of happy vacations, amazing trips and great adventures. Maybe I just miss the „normal life“ bits... because I still love watching what you‘re doing. But I cannot relate to your family the way I could before, especially since you moved to Bath. Since then I often felt like you were really „trying“ to put out a great video and I began missing the ease and levity in your videos. I am aware that you are trying to show a lot of your „normal“ life. But since it is embedded in this amazing short film, it feels way more far away than it did in the beginning. I love you guys and I have been hoping forever that your channel would grow, you really deserve it! I hope this is just a minor set back! Lots of Love from Germany!!!
i totally agree ! been watching since hannah was pregnant with grayson and still watch every week but it feels now like theyre missing some of the rawness of real life.
When I first subscribed to you guys it was because I loved the every day vlogging style but with beautiful shots and silky montages thrown in. I guess over time the everyday chatty vlog style has reduced and the stylish shots have increased ,which some people love but I love to see more of you and Hannah interacting, what you get up to in a day, and your chats! I understand your need to develop though, I LOVE the newer style of vlogs but I do miss elements of the old style too I guess x
I watch these Sunday little movies because it takes me away for a while. The music, the editing, the stories you tell and the whole week of "activities", it is so relaxing. I started watching because my sister told me about you and I loved the little family you had. And I kept watching. The change in editing is actually amazing. I love that not every video has the same vibe, it really comes with what kind of week I have and what you guys are up to. So, lots of love from The Netherlands & keep doing what you do. Ps. I loved that grandma was still in the background waving when Stef said "how will we survive without grandma" hihi. X
I’ve watched every video for about 5 years! And I’m not going anywhere. I love the mini movies you produce every week. You guys make TH-cam fresh I think; there’s something so relaxing about Sunday’s because of you guys x
The content is great, and you're all adorable. I think one of the reasons you never took off is that you focused too much on the haters and hardly ever interact with the regulars. I know you don't see yourself as like the other youtubers, but this is something most vloggers do: take offence, keep bringing up hate comments, and meanwhile don't reply to positive comments. The people who love your channel are like, hello? I'm here. Then must have gotten fed up and gone. This channel feels more like a TV show than a two-way conversation with followers, and I'm okay with that, it's relaxing and often amusing content. Something to consider x
Reading all the comments in summary I think people want a bit more of Hannah featured & her experience of motherhood. That’s why a lot of people subscribed in the first place. It was relatable before for the average person but not so much anymore.
Hannah Martin More Hannah and more authenticity. I feel like the point is that Stef wants to make movies. This is a youtube vlog channel, it's not making movies, that's why it doesn't resonate with people anymore. That's only my personal opinion. While I love Stef's art, I feel like it's become overpowering.
Whilst you might be losing subscribers, I do think it's important to take into account the quality of engagement you provoke in your viewers. Each week the comment section's filled with actual paragraphs written by people who find themselves moved by the art you're creating; it might be someone saying they had a rough week or how certain elements resonate within them, but it's always something different than what one observes in other channels, where comments and reactions never go beyond an "I like this". What I'm trying to say is that the engagement they get is exceptionally bland... and that's because their videos are inconsequential. So... there's that.
Also also (I could very well write an essay on this) The cause of your losing subscribers has little to do with the format of the videos. Rather, I believe it's because of the following reasons: 1. Back when you were just beginning, the channel got a great amount of subscribers because you interacted with Zoella and vloggers alike. Now, most of their viewers are attracted to a... certain style of content, wherein everyone is freakishly happy all the time, and "LOVE YOU GUYS!"S are tossed around like they're nothing. Fortunately, that's not the direction developed by this channel; thus, it's only natural to lose those viewers because they do not subscribe to the idea of genuinity, they thrive in the idea of this fake happy world. 2. You both have established limits for your privacy (you go, Michalaks!). A lot of viewers are used to the oversharing and lack of privacy that other vloggers display. Again, it has to do with creating an artificial reality where the viewer is the vlogger's best friend... which, If I may say, is extremely odd. You've never pretended to create that sort of "bond", rather, you simply state your gratefulness. And that's more than enough. So...there's that.
This has been my favourite channel ever since 2014 and I ridiculously look forward to watching you every Sunday! If only you could see us smiling/laughing/tearing at the screen for 20-30mins on end. Fret not and you do you! It's called "The Michalaks" after all.
Okay. This is the first video that I have actually watched from your channel even though I have been subscribed for ages. Let me explain. Another channel I watch (I can't remember which one) mentioned you in one of their videos, and talked about your amazing editing skills, so I came over, subscribed, but then never really watched any of your uploads. Why? Because I felt like I didn't really know who you guys are. Maybe a new "Q&A" or "Get to know us" or "Our Story" video would help? You have probably done one in the past, but maybe a new one for new subscribers to watch? Now. This video. I see now. You ARE amazing at producing these videos. Don't stop! Don't change! I can't even say if making the get to know me video will even help, but I thought I would just tell you my personal experience with subscribing to new channels. I will be watching all of your videos from here on out. So thats one extra view on each video! Also, I just want to say that Rufus is just the CUTEST!!!! Good luck x
Same here. I was a regular viewer for a long time, but have only watched a couple videos since their move to Bath. For me it felt like they became more distant around that time. I didn't feel like I had the same very personal connection to their videos anymore. I'm not from the UK so it wasn't like the change in location affected anything for me, but something changed at that point. I am still subscribed and clicked on this video because I had noticed the drop in views and wondered what they thought it was from.
Marisa I absolutely agree with you..the move to Bath made me feel the same way and I too can't exactly pinpoint what changed or why that personal feeling sort of left the vlogs for me..that's also where I stopped watching every single video (multiple times). It's not that I don't like them or the editing or anything, because I do..it's just that to me it doesn't feel like home anymore..
THE BAKEWELLS You have some great suggestions because they work for other you tubers. It's hard to say but something happened to make them lose subscribers they need to figure it out or they will continue to see a decline. This is a business they have to find out ways to draw people in like the type that are subscribing now. A Q&A would help and telling their story people love that. It boils down to drawing the viewer in and making them excited to stay. Stef is definitely in a league or his own.
I don't know why but I felt exactly the same... started watching about 3 years ago and felt connected to this family so much, then, when they moved I had a big break, I feel like the London-based thing kind of made up that "young couple with a kid" atmosphere, which now changed into a "rooted family" atmosphere since they moved... Especially things like Date-nights etc. where much more common back then and now they are such Dads/Moms, which is not a bad thing and they seem to see that themselves, but its not what we felt connected to in the beginning...
You had this clip where you asked " why do you even watch us?" I watched you (Hannah) when you were just pregnant with Grayson and you seemed like a really genuine person and when Grayson was born and you had a family Vlog, I loved it even more when Stef came in and started editing it and began having something to look forward to, every Sunday. Never stop growing and never stop trying new things, keep doing what your doing. Love you guys! :)
Rara I was just about to write a comment when I saw this one which articulated precisely what I wanted to say, beautifully 👌🏼 This channel and gorgeous family is my fave ❤️
I am subscribed for quite some time now, must be short of a year I guess and I think I have watched all of your videos. I have to say that, though, that I have to be in “a certain mood” to watch your content. I have to sit down properly to take everything in. I can’t just watch you on the go or between work/life stuff. I watch you when I have time. With life being so busy nowadays, maybe more people feel this way? I hope that you stay true to yourself and that your hard work pays off (literally). Even if you only inhabit a small corner of the internet, please don’t go or change or get bitter. Love and hugs! x
This! but also (this is not really a criticism, because I understand their situation has changed and I am all for taking time for selfcare), but the constant breaks did affect the way I view their content. When you take a week/2wks long break and you post only once a week to begin with, that is a huge amount of time in between. I keep catching myself forgetting about this channel, even though I'm in awe with the production when I finally sit down and catch up. For me that's the true reason. I have nothing negative to say about the creative directions.
I totally get this. I think a lot of people find it easier to watch more mundane, easy to watch videos. This is one of my favourite channels, I love their style and wouldn't change it. but I do notice that it's one of the last vlogger channels I get round to watching, just because it is more like watching a movie or TV that you have to pay attention and be in the mood for rather than just tuning out and procastinating
Long time watcher- I would suggest you add more real life stuff in...real life struggle stuff, its important to show beauty and positivity- but also stuff like i dunno where to send my kid to school, or juggling life, or occasional crap thats going on in the world etc otherwise the blogs seem too similar each week.
Firstly, wicked intro. But yeah, I completely agree with you Stef. As a creator, you have to keep pushing and evolving. Please don't go back to the old style now, these videos have never been more beautiful than they have been these last six months ❤️Keep pushing and being your authentic selves. Love this fam.
You can only push so far in creating content. I started watching before Grayson was even born and I miss how simple, relatable, and watching parts of their day that was not a long "movie" to watch with a busy life in the mix. I suggest possibly alternating between having a raw vlog and creative video like this.
I've watched your vidoes for a year or two now and the changes in your channel is what's kept me around for so long. I usually only stick around on a channel for 6 months at most but I would never dream of leaving your channel. I don't think it's your videos getting less interesting, it's more just an audience being filtered down from haters and easily offended twats to people who genuinely love your videos. This is just an irrelavent comment from a silent viewer but in short, keep doing what you're doing! Your children are angels btw :)
You make wonderful videos. Even last week you didn’t throw Crete or Greece into the title to grab views. Unlike those vloggers who are making buckets of money doing nothing. You all are a class act. And it helps me as a mother and it makes me realize time with my family is essential.
Your videos are amazing and truly inspirational and refreshing and heart warming! You do a great job with them. Don't ever stop making them especially because you love doing what you do which becomes clearly evident in each of these beautifully filmed and edited videos. ❤ I know I am just another viewer but I am someone who really never comes out of her shell to actually comment on any social media, but your videos always make me do it. And especially listening to the part where you talk about the decreasing number of view surprised me so much because how can one not simply fall in love at once with your beautifully put together family video diaries❤❤ I really wish the best for you and your family! Please know that the viewers you do have really really appreciate and love the hard work you put in these videos❤❤ GOODLUCK! Have a lovely day! Keep up the amazing work!
Subbed to you and Hannah’s channel two days ago, have skipped work, let close relationships crumble around me and not cleaned myself in those two days as I binge watch.
I haven’t missed a video. And I have no judgment of your video style, I always look forward to whatever you produce Stef I love your creativity, keep being you, you’ll always be changing and so will your video styles, I look forward to where it will go
As a weekly watcher, I can say there’s nothing I’ve enjoyed more than seeing the content in your videos change, and develop creatively. It’s been so interesting to see how styles and choices have changed over the years, because your work always maintains fierce creative dignity. If anything, it’s improved so greatly, that sometimes it’s almost unrecognisable from your style a few years ago, and I think that’s the best thing about it!! I don’t subscribe for a weekly reshoot of the same things, I subscribe because your videos are so refreshingly different and beautiful every week, but you still maintain the same creative core. They’re the best family vlogs on TH-cam, without a doubt!
I love your videos. A LOT. I have followed your family BEFORE you were a family, so when it was just Hannah. I haven’t left and I don’t want to leave. I love how you’ve grown, I love how you’ve expressed yourselves and I love your style and how you’ve stuck with your passion and what you love. Like you said, some people may just not like your new style, but that’s just a matter of taste, as you know. But please don’t ever feel like you have to change or do anything different, because you don’t! I’m obsessed with your channel and I’m obsessed with your family. Please keep it up. There are so many of us that have stuck around and can’t wait to see what you’re gonna do next. Much love x
I've been watching your videos since the channel was called 'Hannah Maggs,' and I worked out that the first video of yours I watched was 'BABY SPA DATE.' I have loved all the changes you've made to the channel and seeing Grayson develop his gorgeous personality! You may have lost subscribers but I have a feeling your loyal subscribers like me will stay around for a long time!
These videos are a breath of fresh air here on TH-cam. I’m always looking forward to watch them when I wake up on sundays. Please don’t stop doing what you love and staying true to yourself, because that’s one of the qualities that I think the “true viewers” cherish the most.
I don't know if people are unsubscribing so much as they are being unsubscribed by TH-cam. This happens a lot. I have been subscribed for years and I really like the way that your content has evolved. I like how normal your vlogs are and how much effort goes into the montages. I also like the dynamic between you all. I am loving Grayson. He is so grown up! I live for the breakfast conversations between Grayson and Stef! Don't change a thing.
I don't mean to sound harsh.. But when I first discovered your channel, grayson was a wee baby and I mostly watched for Hannah's advice and her lovely personality, and for your amazing editing and the silkys... Now I don't watch as much because I feel like this is the Stef show and not the Michalak family Vlogs anymore... You've taken over the whole channel and although I appreciate your vision and your witty remarks, sometimes you're just too much... Sorry, I still wish you much success
I honestly wouldn't know what to do with myself without your videos! I've been watching them for years. Through uni, they were a way to completely relax and enjoy. And now, living half way across the world in Vietnam, watching these videos honestly brings me so much joy every week. PLEASE, PLEASE pleeeease never stop creating these beautiful snapshots.
I totally adore your Videos and I think they are the best ones available on this platform. I also really like the new style. I am here since before Grayson was born and I am still looking forward to every video! Keep doing such great videos. I am sure the views will increase again!! :)
I’ve been watching you guys since your channel started (before Grayson was born). I love your channel and look forward to your videos each week. You’re by far my favourite TH-cam family! I like that you don’t follow the crowd. Your videos are touching, original, and so so emotional! Keep up the good work! x
Stef we aren't going anywhere. Amazing film as always. It's been a privilege to watch your family and your filming style grow. That probably sounds a bit dickish but I've just had a baby so I'm allowed.
You guys are a part of my Sunday/Monday routine and have remained so even when I moved to NZ 4 years ago. I enjoy watching your videos more so now than ever. The way you capture British life and the scenery, it fills that small hole in my life where I yearn for a walk in the English countryside or to see snow and lights at Christmas. I dont watch any other TH-camrs to fill that gap - you capture it all perfectly.
please don't ever stop making these beautiful, hilarious films! i'd feel like i was losing friends (sad i know haha). I think I've watched every single video of yours from hannahs beauty tutorials to the weekly pregnancy updates, to the london silkies, squeaky G and your vlogmasses. you've shared so much with us and the OG viewers will always be here! i think youtube in general is floundering at the moment so that might be where you're losing views from. i only watch you guys and samantha maria now. everyone else feels so fake and forced, it never feels like that with you guys! as hannah said to grandma, please don't leave us!!!
I discovered you guys about a year ago and I've fallen more and more in love with your videos and your family. I wait every week for a new video and it's a such a great bonus if Hannah posts a raw vlog as well. Your videos are so beautiful and they're exactly like watching a short film. I get my tea and snack and just relax and enjoy. I will be with you guys until the end which is hopefully never. Thanks for sharing your life with me.
For me, it’s time. My personal life has changed and I’m sure many others have too. I’ve got a home and family now and I don’t have time to watch TH-cam like I used to but your videos are and always will be a calming getaway for me. I needed it today. Thank you x
Please don't ever stop! Your honesty and pure love for your family and making these vlogs is very beautiful and special. I love my Sundays watching you guys! Keep going for the pure love of what you do!
Don't change anything your videos are amazing it may be something much more simple perhaps the good weather just has people slower to catch up with TH-cam and if it's not don't worry maybe more like minded viewers will find your channel either way what you do is amazing and I so look forward to your video every week. From a long time follower first time commenter x
These are honestly my most favourite videos, my favourite part of sundays is sitting down to watch them. They are so genuine and always so beautifully put together. I watch these videos because you are 'real' people and have the most wonderful perspective on the ups and downs of everyday life.
I LOVE the Ask Grayson sections you do, so insightful as I'm barely around my young cousins so never really see into the mind of a child & it's so cute. Also can't believe you were in Sandbanks, so near my hometown! I'm from Bournemouth but I'm just finishing uni in London. You guys are probably one of few people I would approach in person to say how much I enjoy your videos and how they have routinely been a part of my Sundays for years! Stef I understand you are a perfectionist but I can 100% say every single video is spot on, silky montage, latte art or no. X
I adore "ask Grayson" he's so sweet. also i love the evolution of these vlogs. I feel like I'm simultaneously watching an old home video (like the ones your granddad forces you to be in every xmas) and a really lovely modern film. its a very fine and lovely balance. It makes me feel like a part of the family.
Just can't understnd how people who used to watch you have stopped doing it 😕😕😕😕😕 From baby Grayson to baby Rufus a million battles you both had to deal with and you shared them with us. Your equipment grew for the best, your edition is the best, I love the content, I love Bath, I just simply don't get it. But I came to stay.
I have been subscribed to your channel for years (it started with Hannah's messy bun tutorial) and i have never stopped watching. Lately I have started watching some of your old videos again and you have come from such a long way since then and I love it! You started making these videos for fun, which then turned into a diary for Grayson to watch when he is older and which are now very poetic and emotional mini movies for both your sons to enjoy later. You have given your viewers the opportunity to watch you and your family grow, but we have also been able to witness you develop your own style. Personally, I think it is the best gift you could have ever given us. We are growing and maturing together. Keep up guys, no matter who subscribes and unsubscribes, you have to keep doing what you enjoy and what makes you feel proud of yourself.
So... I'm commenting on one of your videos for the first time ever although I've been subscribed since the weekly pregnancy updates during your first pregnancy - even though i was about 17 at the time and had no desire of getting pregnant any time soon! I've just always loved your spirits. You are awesome people, because you are so real. You both remind me a lot of myself and who I wish to become as a parent. I watch your videos every sunday, like clockwork. If I'm ever having a bad day i watch your videos. If I'm having a good day I'll watch them. You do you, because that's who you do best :) Lots of love from Denmark
I wish more creators thought like you Steph. I wish every TH-camr would stop worrying about the numbers and doing what's popular because the reason so many people are here in the first place is because you guys are amazing. Numbers fluctuate but you guys are always going to have so many people who adore watching you and are really inspired by you. that is what's important. keeping doing what you're doing
The music in your last video was amazing!! I ended up following so many of the artists on sound cloud. Also I love your videos I've been watching every week for about 4 years now! Love you guys xoxo
Consistently watched your content since 2015, when I started uni and now I have just finished and I can’t help but feel that throughout my time here, and how much I’ve changed, that I’ve progressed alongside your channel. You are an artist Stef and progression is key to understanding and enhancing your work and the kind of art you want to create. Will support you until the videos stop, which I hope will not be for a long time. Much love xxx
I'd just like to say how much I enjoy your videos - definitely my first choice. I can't imagine why your views would be dropping - your channel is on a different level from all the tat that's on here. I can see why it is so frustrating to see the crap getting so many more views than your beautiful, balanced videos.
It genuinely breaks my heart when I see numbers dwindling, but the fact that you guys have pushed through and continued with the current vlog style is admirable. I honestly cannot fathom why anyone would stop watching at the moment - the vlogs are absolutely as stunning as ever. I've watched you guys for 3 years now and I couldn't imagine not ending my week with your cosy, wonderfully executed vlogs.
I love this channel and have been watching since Gracie was a newborn peanut. What deters me now sometimes though is like the first two to three min of this video. The self deprecating run on speeches. These videos for the most part are still a breath of fresh air, but those speeches sometimes make me anxious and make my chest feel heavy. And that's definitely not what i want to feel from a video. I nearly clicked out of this one but knew the speech would be done eventually so i kept watching and am very glad i did because the rest of the video was that breath of fresh air i love so much. I wish you would be nicer to yourself Stef, l know plenty of it is sarcasm, but still. I Think you guys will continue to be my favorite creator n this platform. In a way you make content that surpasses the standard content of this site, and maybe thats why you arent necessarily reaching your audience. I will forever love this channel along with everyone else in this comment section.
I've been watching your films for a few years now and every week I'm in awe of your creativity. Your channel has been the only one I've kept watching for a long period of time without getting sick of and I think it's because you guys continue to grow not only as people but also as creators. Watching your videos each week feels like catching up with family and it's so nice to see what you guys have been up to. Keep up the great work guys!
I've been subscribed for a while, and could not wait to watch your videos when they were posted. However, lately, with the additional , albeit random, story telling that are thrown in, I'm a bit turned off. I think what attracts us to vlogs is the ability to watch bits of REAL people doing REAL life. Lately, we've just been seeing a smiley Grayson, Hannah shuffling around the house, and you telling us random stories with bits of animation scattered throughout. Nothing wrong with that, but it's much of the same.
Your videos have become a part of my regular Sunday routine. I look forward to getting up in the morning, having a cup of coffee, and hanging out with you for a little while. Thank you for letting us in on a small part of your lives and for doing it so beautifully!
Your channel and videos have been a constant in my life. I feel so connected to hannah and you. When I feel alone or overwhelmed or misunderstood I curl up and rewatch or continue to watch your films. I can’t explain to anyone else why I consider you dear friends. Change is so hard, but having you guys show up every Sunday has meant the world to me.
I honestly loved this video so much; while I understand the worry I think both of you, as creators, should follow your own instincts about the direction your channel should go towards. You should always push yourself to be better and to be true to yourself; your viewers should also encourage you to follow your creative instincts as the product of this will ultimately be content that is real and genuine. Keep up the good work guys, we'll stand by you every week. xx
Your videos are so much more than vlogs. They are such a beautiful form of story telling. Stories of life, love, and adventure. I have been watching since Grayson was just born and this channel has impacted my life so positively since then. You all have inspired me only not to create but to appreciate everything we have in this life. Please never stop creating. There will always be people to watch and listen as long as you all continue on sharing your stories.
I only found your channel this year and instantly fell in love with your videos! While some people may be leaving, there is still so many new faces around here! Your channel made me fall in love with TH-cam again! ♥
Don’t ever change the style you want for your films just because viewers. The people who watch every week genuinely love and enjoy these beautiful creations. I love how you edit and shoot and so do many many other people!
I do love the videos! I've been watching for over 2 years now, when I found your videos I was thinking of starting my own channel as I've always loved filming and editing, I wasn't sure how or what to film, at that point I only knew of the typical cookie cutter "hey guys" youtubers. I think it's the honestly and the realness that you guys bring that I was and still am so drawn too and you show the beauty in just everyday life, which definitely inspired me. plus always love the silky montages.
I absolutely love your Q&As with Grayson, they are my favorite bits! I think it's a perfect way to stimulate kids and chalenge them to think and form opinions. And it's just lovely to watch...
Stef and Hannah, you are so right about keeping your style progressing. You need to do what is authentic to you and make the videos that make you happy, cos that is what resonates with viewers. I have watched since Hannah was pregnant with Grayson and have loved watching your family grow and your viewers develop. All the best guys, much love x
Aww please don't stop the blog. I love them so much! They're such a charming insight into family life, and I feel like you guys keep it real- kite surfing case in point- in a really refreshing way. Fingers crossed for many more years of Michalaks to come! X
Hey! I hope you find this comment helpful!!! So, I would watch your videos every week and would follow you on social media and stuff. And I say you and I mean a bunch of creators I used to follow. What happened? I just moved forward. I used to spend a lot of time watching other’s lives while my life was a mess and I decided to stop and start putting my life together again. Watching you guys, the life you’ve got to have and see how you deal with it, has made me pushed forward towards mine. And I couldn’t be more thankful!!! But it’s true that I am one of those who have stopped watching your videos, not because the style/quality (they are just FANTASTIC) but because I needed just time. That being said, I’m gonna try to stick around!!! You guys deserve it!!! Big hugs!😘
I may be only a teen, but your videos mean a lot to me. Every Sunday watching a new, funny , meaningful and almost intimate glimpse into your life shows me that there is a life after school and all the drama going on. Your intricate and silky shots combined with the truth you portray in your weekly vlogs has become a source of advice I need. Somehow you always manage to have a message, no matter big or small that fits into my life. Anyways, it probably doesn’t matter to you but I just wanted to say how much you mean to me. Thank you so much for these amazing quality vlogs that always make me happy.
I’ve been subscribed to your family since before Grayson was born and I’ve watched and loved every video you’ve created until lately. The commentary became far too much and took away from the family I loved watching grow. This is the first video I’ve watched in months as I unsubscribed, at least you realise it. A shame, all the best to you and your beautiful family
You guys are the one channel I look forward to watching every Sunday morning before going on with my life. You’re authentic, funny, and have depth to you which is a rare combination in this day and age. Keep up the good work!
I have to admit that I don‘t watch your videos anymore. I still like you guys very much, but I don‘t feel like I want to watch the videos. Maybe it‘s because you moved, maybe it‘s because of the new family dynamic. Maybe one day I‘ll be back on track
What you create makes my every sunday a blast. Absolute beauty. I'm blown away by your ability to create something new, tell a new story, or use a new style everyday. Continue doing what you do best...being an artist! Love you Michalaks!!!))))
Been here since the beginning, but find myself not watching anymore because you and Hannah seem disinterested, and it feels, to me, that you are forcing content for the views. Something you have said many times you would never do. As much as I love the montages, I watch your old vlogs more, they aren't all over the place, as I feel these are and I get to see more of the real day to day. Sorry not trying to be cruel, this is strictly how I feel. I used to be so excited for your vlogs on Sundays, something is missing, and again I feel the you've pulled away and not doing it for the same reasons you used too.
I’ve been watching you guys for about 2 years now and I honestly love your videos. They’re different and that’s why I watch them, they’re not in ‘vlogging’ style like everything else on TH-cam! I also watch because you’re all lovely people and watching Grayson grow up has made me excited to have kids of my own. Stef’s sense of humour and Hannah being so relatable is something I look forward to seeing! Don’t change your content, do what you enjoy 😊 Ask Grayson was fabbbbb! I will never stop watching you guys
I've been subscribed for almost 5 years now and literally every Monday morning (I live in Sydney) the first thing i do is make a cup of coffee and sit down and watch your video. It has become my Monday morning routine that I simply have to do. You guys are amazing and so real and I think that is what a lot of us love about you. xx
I stumbled upon your channel about a year ago and now I look forward to your uploads every Sunday. I have a 3 year old and 10 month old baby so watching your weekly videos is so very touching and relatable. Humour- spot on. And the cinematography is stunning. Well done and please continue your craft. Love from Toronto. Xx
I’m a relatively new subscriber and have loved seeing your development, even just in the past 9 months or so. You guys are such an inspiration from your relationships with each other, your friends and the world around you to the way you capture it so perfectly in these videos. Keep pushing on because it’s clear you have a huge impact on so many of us. You guys are family goals!
Please don’t change anything about your videos! They are so wonderful and every time I watch them it gives me all these wonderful feelings!! I will not lie...I have been away for awhile so I haven’t been actively watching because I have had life get in the way...but I will be making time every Sunday bc these videos spark something in my soul! You guys bring me so much happiness and I love everything you are about!
Honestly, I reckon the dwindling views are purely down to the fact that most people can’t deal with how real you are. You don’t tell people what they want to hear. You don’t morph yourselves into something you’re not ‘for the views’. You actually make people feel things with your videos, you evoke emotional responses in your viewers and that is something most don’t even come close to. I can imagine you’ve had many a debate with Gleam about your style vs your views. And I admire that you’ve always stuck to your guns and produced the content you want to create, at the jaw-dropping quality you wish to create it. I’ve been watching for three years now, and have nothing but respect for you, not only as creators, but as people. Thank you for keeping it real. 👌
I've watched you for years and it's been amazing to see how these videos have evolved! They've never been better and I agree that you can't go backwards when you're evolving creativly. Your videos are my favourites and that's partly because they've beautifully made but also because you're both so genuine and nice as people. Keep doing what you're doing because it's great!
I appreciate what you do so much. The love you have for not only what you do, but also for each other is not just seen, but felt. And that is because of how creative and thoughtful you are in your work. Thank you for what you share. Thank you for what you chose not to share, and keep for each other. Also, know that as you grow, we are growing with you. We're starting families, changing jobs, moving towns, cities, provinces, and counties. And even if our lives get busier, and find less time within them to stop and appreciate yours as much as we use to, what you do still matters a great deal to all of us who stay. So thank you. Thank you for sticking it out. Thank you for staying. Thank you for pushing on and finding creation, even in the worry.
The care and work you and Hannah put into your weekly vlog is so inspiring yet relaxing at the same time. Keep up your fabulous work. I hope more people stumble upon your channel like I have. What a refreshing change.
I think you can compare your views going down with your number of friends going down with age. When all you do is following everyone and getting drunk at parties you have hundreds of « friends », but when you start showing your real humour and tastes you can really connect with few people. Also, it seems to me that all youtubers have seen their views going down so it has do to with youtube algorithmes
i've been watching your vlogs for 3ish years now and i still have mad appreciation for the artistry, the creativity, the medley of stories in each week's vlog. I've learned so much throughout the years from you all: the joys and pains of growing into adulthood and parenthood, the ridiculous housing market in london, the way music sets the pace in film, making peace with loss, making time for family. those values have been at the core of everything you all have put out over the years, and i appreciate it so much. not to be dramatic, but i remember the day i subscribed, and it was bc stef made some super dark joke that made hannah roll her eyes in horror. i've stuck around through the years for the dark jokes and dry humor and the honesty and great editing. even though sometimes (most times) i'm like "wow this family is hella white", y'all seem to have kind hearts. keep sticking to what brings you joy as a family! much love from cali!
Lovely video, as per usual. With regards to what Stef said about the channel dying...I think some people might prefer to watch really amateur vlogs with camera or iPhone in the face (usually reflected in their sunglasses)...with the vlogger literally just filming their face and saying "I did this today...I went there today..." and might find your vlogs to be a bit artsy fartsy. But I honestly don't understand that kind of preference. I much prefer to watch something more artsy and accompanied with music which you have an amazing taste in! Watching you vlogs is like watching a beautifully filmed mini film...it's not like watching any other vlog. I love your channel and have been watching from the very beginning. Well, almost :) But I promise I will not unsubscribe unless you decide to stop vlogging, which I'm begging you not to do. Much love xx
totally agree, I think the iphone amateur vlogs are for the more simple minded/people lacking a knowledge of the world/shelter type and often children really, The Michalak's are the more down to earth, talented vloggers out there
Artsy and elaborate is ok, but the long monologues and heavy humour that took the place of their normal family life are quite boring. Stef has obviously an amazing talent, but in my opinion vlogs are still and always will be just vlogs. Not films. If you want to make films you go work in the movie industry, but if you're a vlogger who films their everyday life you can't make it this heavy. You're allowed, obviously, but it gets boring. I've always appreciated the effort that they put in creating good quality videos, but this is not interesting anymore. The bottom line is: if you want to make movies, which I think you'd be amazing at, go make movies, don't be a youtuber. I think they are two completely dofferent things.
I´ve watched your videos since some years now so I recognized your change or better developement. And as your kids are growing up you grow as well as parents and as creators of your wonderful videos. It´s so important to evolve, to go forward and not to stuck in the same because that would be comfort zone and great things never came from comfort zone. I really adore your style of filming, of editing and telling stories with the pictures. So be proud of yourself and live your life doing your things! You are so inspiring.
I’ve been on and off watching your videos till about a year ago where I fell back in love with your family and the movies. I look forward to this on a weekly basis, it’s helped me get through a lot of lonely times . Please don’t stop making these videos the love you have for them and your family is amazing ❤️ x
I feel like it's an unpopular thing on TH-cam, but quality over quantity - sure you're a small(ish) channel, but the quality of your videos is just insane and that means the quality of the engagement and the quality of your impressions is much higher. Never in my two years of watching you have I clicked off a video because I'm bored, I've had several weeks I've missed and binged them all in one day and never got bored of you. You've inspired me to put more effort into my own channel. It's been insane to watch the boys grow and follow you through the last couple years and watch how your channel and film style and creative choices have changed and developed over the years and to me, that's more important than having 11 million subscribers and flogging crap all the time and exploiting teenagers.
Guys....I watch you when I‘m happy and I suddenly get happier even more. And I watch you when I‘m sad, or anxious, or nervous, or afraid of the future or feeling really low and then you guys make me find back to reality and make me appreciate the tiny things in life. In you I found role role models for how I want my life to be when I‘m having my own family. So, I think it‘s time to say THANK YOU! Keep it up 💕
I rarely watch your videos now..
Agreed!
Not financially Harriet and they have two kids to clothe and feed now.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Lenka Kocurekova greetings from Slovakia :-)
Lenka Kocurekova I
I can't say it better 👍
„Are you the best in the whole class?“
„Noo, everyone‘s best there!“
That melted my heart. Gracie is auch a sweet, kind hearted kid.
Just wondering whether we all want a bit more of Hannah in the vlogs?
we do! I love her vlogs
I won’t ever stop watching you guys, you’re part of my Sunday routine now. I’m stuck with you and you’re stuck with me 😂🖤
Agreed!
haha, same! When they take a week off, Sunday's just are't the same.
This.
You truly are a real artist Stef I love every video you make, I always feel better after watching them thank you for everything you do
Reading all the comments in summary I think people want a bit more of Hannah featured & her experience of motherhood.
Also also (I could very well write an essay on this)
The cause of your losing subscribers has little to do with the format of the videos. Rather, I believe it's because of the following reasons:
Well said, totally agree.
Couldn't agree more!
Good luck x
exactly same for me
You had this clip where you asked " why do you even watch us?"
I watched you (Hannah) when you were just pregnant with Grayson and you seemed like a really genuine person and when Grayson was born and you had a family Vlog, I loved it even more when Stef came in and started editing it and began having something to look forward to, every Sunday. Never stop growing and never stop trying new things, keep doing what your doing.
Love you guys! :)
Rara I was just about to write a comment when I saw this one which articulated precisely what I wanted to say, beautifully 👌🏼 This channel and gorgeous family is my fave ❤️
Thank you Amy, I don't really comment much but I felt like I had to say it to them, specially to Stef because I really love his work
I am subscribed for quite some time now, must be short of a year I guess and I think I have watched all of your videos. Love and hugs! x
QuittingQuince Jewellery same!
This! but also (this is not really a criticism, because I understand their situation has changed and I am all for taking time for selfcare), but the constant breaks did affect the way I view their content.
Yes this. I feel like there were more “real life” things back when you lived in London...
I am with you on this!
Goose o
Much love x
The absolute highlight of my week. Thankyou for always keeping it real to all your viewers. Xx
I've been watching your videos since the channel was called 'Hannah Maggs,' and I worked out that the first video of yours I watched was 'BABY SPA DATE.' I have loved all the changes you've made to the channel and seeing Grayson develop his gorgeous personality! You may have lost subscribers but I have a feeling your loyal subscribers like me will stay around for a long time!
aw that was the first video I watched too!!
Omg my First was also the spa date😂😂😍
Ahhw same here :)
MFM your own life and your own children just get in the way I guess
A minute and a half in and I can already say, STEF YOU ARE A LEGEND
Josephine Fox completely agree, it’s such a shame!
I just posted the same thing. The commentary is too much.
I freaking love you guys. Well done!
Oh my god, The devine and michalak family are both the most beautiful and talented family on youtube!
You guys should do a collab. My two favourite TH-cam families and creators!
I've been subscribed for almost 5 years now and literally every Monday morning (I live in Sydney) the first thing i do is make a cup of coffee and sit down and watch your video. It has become my Monday morning routine that I simply have to do. You guys are amazing and so real and I think that is what a lot of us love about you. xx
I love your style of vlogging, so pls keep doing what your doing
I stumbled upon your channel about a year ago and now I look forward to your uploads every Sunday. I have a 3 year old and 10 month old baby so watching your weekly videos is so very touching and relatable. Humour- spot on. And the cinematography is stunning. Well done and please continue your craft. Love from Toronto. Xx
We’re your friends still. Favourite Sunday ritual x
The title doesnt make me happy 😥 Hope you four have a lovely sunday 💕
Well I ain’t going anywhere 😂 I don’t understand how you guys don’t have more subscribers tbh it’s mad 😂
The intro was just hilariously brilliant
Well, almost :)
But I promise I will not unsubscribe unless you decide to stop vlogging, which I'm begging you not to do.
Much love xx
I honestly don't understan these peolpe. I really prefer watching the artsy "filmvloggs" like the ones from the michalaks or marke miller!
totally agree, I think the iphone amateur vlogs are for the more simple minded/people lacking a knowledge of the world/shelter type and often children really, The Michalak's are the more down to earth, talented vloggers out there
Artsy and elaborate is ok, but the long monologues and heavy humour that took the place of their normal family life are quite boring.
I don't think I will ever leave
