No fuss, clear instructions and cultivation knowledge about watermelon radish. I had seeds from another vendor, who provided NO information about cultivation. So my spring plant in the pacific NW was a disaster. Its early August and I may try again. Thank you, rene seeds for useful no nonsense information.

🌿🌸 Everyone, you can wash well the radish greens, ( till no soil or sand is in your washing bowl) slice. and sauté in some evo with some garlic or not. Add 3/4 c. water , cover and cook on Med low for 7-10 min. A delicious and super nutritious green. You can also planned up the greens when they are not fully cooked but still a beautiful green in your pan and then use that as a puréed soup or add to your arm smoothies. Of course you can do this with any leafy green vegetable. Please be aware that when you eat a lot of spinach, it has a high amount of oxalic acid which your body then has to buffer from your calcium stores to buffer the oxalic acid so spinach really is not our friend not on a weekly basis anyway. You can find out more about this subject, vegetables, containing oxalic acid, nightshades, etc. and delicious recipes in Paul Pitchford‘s book “Healing with whole foods.” Available at all libraries. I’m the worst at thinning so I’ve done both ways. It breaks my heart to pull the sprouts and get when I start them at the right distance, it’s also disappointing if they don’t germinate.
I transplanted the ones I thinned out, not all of them, but the ones that came out with all the roots still attached, that looked like they would survive. They did. However, I didn't see this video prior to thinning and I have thinned them to regular radish measurement. I will have to thin them out again I guess. Might wait until they get just a bit bigger to enjoy some baby more peppery ones lol
@@emilymarx5551 I planted them 10 weeks ago so it was to early. I used a new bag of gardening soil from the store. I could fertilize more often though. But no fruits so far
i disagree im in australia , and i planted mine in spring at about 19c were now heading to summer and its getting hotter today was 35c my radishes all have small bulbs and some even big enough to eat at egg size . by xmas they should be about 3 and 1/2 inches by then and fully ready , water is the key . the more water the sweeter the radish . not enough water they get bitter

How big should they be when you thin out the plants?
Just a few inches. Not too big.
Why not just start them 3 inches apart?
In case they don't germinate. Better to plant a few extra than not enough.

Mines flowered out. Are they ready?
They are beyond ready if they flowered.
I know its late now but the pods are edible.
You could also save all the seeds to grow in the future.
Mine doesn't grow big leaves but a long stem with few small leaves. Is that bad news?
Perhaps your soil is needing more healthy addition, such as compost worm, casings, sand, and then weekly fertilizer applications, 10-10-10.

Depends where you are. Plant about 60 days before your first frost
