I cosplayed kanna at a convention at 14. I was told pedophilia was okay and was touched and my picture was taken without permission in inappropriate areas and posted on Facebook. I was terrified of cosplaying in front of men. Cosplay doesn’t equal consent

Elliot Berg yes! They’re are. But most are.. not my type. There’s always very pretty professional cosplayers who mind their own buisness, mha fans who are annoying, people who ship real life characters, perverts, people who are just there for fun, role players and the trolls.
I’d advise if you ever go to a convention bring the makeup you think you might have to reapply, water, money, (I would sneak in pepper spray if you are outside at night) charger, chapstick, bow ties, comb for your wig and deodorant if you are that kind of person

It's why I stopped cosplaying. I loved making costumes and dressing up, but I felt SO uncomfortable at conventions because of this issue. It was so creepy I just had to stop.

Cosplay is a hobby. A very expensive one at that. It’s also a type of makeup art. Not all of us are weird or sexual. We may cosplay characters with different personalities or wear sexual clothing but we are people not the character. Some people use it as an escape or a coping mechanism thing, for example, me. I do cosplay whenever I feel anxious or sad. ANOTHER THING furries are almost exactly the same. I have friends that are furries. Yes there are sexual things but the majority of furries take no part in that especially since some of them are kids/teen (around 12-18)
Moral of this is: cosplay is not consent and, furries aren’t gross or sexual

Kokichi Ouma I cosplay for fun. Gray makeup is a pain, especially trying to figure out how to put on a bright red sweater without getting any makeup on it. The cosplay was not even close to sexual(given the fact I was wearing a oversized sweater and pants that went up to my chest).

Both fun and an escape. I love to cosplay and you never have to worry about getting a new “costume” each Halloween. I am by no means a professional cosplayer and have help from friends who make and sell things to put mine together, but I’m definitely learning what to do to save money, help friends in the industry and look forward to the cons I can afford each year.

I really, really, really love what she said in 9:50 about race doesn't matter, as long you cosplay cause no, I haven't been told I can't cosplay cause that character has a different skin from me but I have been told that I can't cosplay some characters cause that character has no hair in their arms and they don't wear glasses.

My perception of cosplayers changed for the following reason: I didn't really realize how skilled they were until watching this video. - They are artists of their craft. They do fashion design, makeup, painting, crafting, and modeling. They deserve respect for being multi-talented people. Now I'm very impressed by the super hard-working, and independent cosplayers out there.
i love how anthony is so respectful towards them, especially as so many people would try to harass cosplayers who cosplay revealing outfits etc.

As someone who casually cosplays, I’m glad that Anthony was respectful (like always). Cosplaying is such a fun thing to do, but when somebody mocks you for it, it can just ruin the whole thing. I like that not only is it a cool form of art, but a way to connect with people with similar likes as you. I love going to comic cons (in fact I’m going to one in Sept that is always amazing). The whole atmosphere just can’t be replicated anywhere else, it’s so awesome

Go for it. Some people will love it other people won't but that's life.
I mean, getting a tan is different than going hardcore black face, ya know? There are always boundaries, people can't bash you just for being tanned - but if you'd drown yourself in fake tanning then maybe I'd understand a few 'eeeeeeh' comments.
I think ppl are too sensitive about the skin color issue. If ppl are dressing up as a totally different character than they are IRL; if they can color their skin to be purple or green, why can't they darken or lighten their natural skin tone. It is really silly to say you can be purple, but you can't look Hispanic, black, white, etc. Isn't that the biggest part of cosplay? being something you are not? Every single day ppl use makeup to change their natural looks. It's ok.
