Dear Garrett. You’re going to get SO much sh*t but I hope you know there are grown ups out here that understand what you did to elevate “golf entertainment” to the place it is now. This event is really a salute to your work and effort. I’ve been watching since you were a trick shot artist and I remember the false starts, the trials, the tough stuff. We all salute Rick Shiels and all the OGs, but you (and the boys) put golf entertainment in the eyeballs of the PGA. And THAT is an accomplishment.

2 things, 1: You could not have had a better caddy. He was so supportive and trying to get you in the right mindset. Serious kudos to Blake. and 2: No one can even begin to imagine how much pressure you had on you. The best advice I have is the more you compete in big events like this that matter, the more that pressure will dissipate. You are such a bad ass and we all love what you do for golf and your attitude for life.

When I was younger, playing Little League baseball, I asked my dad why I always felt nervous and got butterflies in my stomach. He told me, "It’s because it matters to you, and you want to do your best. I’d be worried if you didn’t feel nervous." That advice has stayed with me throughout my life. Whenever I get nervous, I know it’s because something is important to me.

The thing is… You’ve done so much for golf that you don’t have to prove anything else. You’re a humble guy and you’ll never accept it, but that whole entire event happened because teenage Garret banged wedges with his buddies at Watters Creek long enough to start making content which grew into an AMAZING way to bring people to the game. Without Garret there is no Good Good, without Good Good there is no Golf Creators Event.
You making a 9 probably kept a lot of your viewers grinding forward just knowing it can happen to anyone. Kudos to PGA for recognizing how much all of you bring to the game. Awesome Event!

  • @howitworks3607

Golf could be a stingy game that possibly would have disappeared with the next generation, but you’re making it accessible and entertaining. Not just keeping the game alive, but making it bigger than ever

You have no idea how much it means to people like me to see your vulnerability, and your failure in front of so many people and on camera, and you are still showing appreciation. It matters because people like me who gave up golf long ago because they got too frustrated and too upset and too angry... now know that we are not alone. That matters. And it matters to know how many people care so much about this sport that they beat themselves up, and get really hard on themselves, but that that is a shared experience of golf. And that is something you are showing everybody right now, and I really, really appreciate it. Thank you..

Awsome honest, heart felt video. You'll get there mentally. You seem like the nicest guy to play in a PGA Tour event. This is why you have over a million subscribers! Keep it up!

Superb stuff, and a huge credit to you and everyone else for elevating the golf content space! Golf is tough and under that pressure I thought you did great! Glad you enjoyed it and here's to many more days like that!

Loved the self talk bit. And you nailed it. The game at that level is having the talent (which you have) but playing well while working thru the mental part of the game. Play 5-10 tourney’s and you’ll get locked in. And you’re a creator of laid back golf entertainment. If I want serious mental game golf…I watch PGA events. Stay in your lane and keep doing your thing.

Started golfing a year ago. I found your all’s channel and even though Im more of the Finch and Shiels age bracket I really enjoy watching you all play, especially, when it’s the really competitive golf. Basketballs always been my sport and with the NBA there’s always so much talk about a guys ceiling. Think of everybody your ceiling has always seemed the highest. If you ever switched gears to just competitive stroke play golf there’s no telling how far you’d go. But I think it’s pretty awesome you don’t have to and can keep having fun and still playing high quality golf.
Hope to see more content with you mixing it up with some of the guys who can go low like you.

I want you to think about it this way… you play in front of millions of people everyday and you kill it. You have the audience every single time you play. Everybody at these events wants to see you succeed, there’s nothing to be nervous about! Just go out there and have a good time and play your game

Garret, the pros sometimes hit +5s on courses like that. You did great. Don't listen to people pushing you down. This was a great stepping stone for you. Can't wait to see your content post tourney.

I really applaud and commend you for the way you have handled this beat down in front of some serious crowd and spectators. A 9 is brutal when you're alone or with 3 others in your flight. But like that. Mental! So, props to you Garrett. Keep your head up. Actually, I watched it live and when you started saying, you needed to untuck your shirt, I saw serious mental presssure on your face and I thought oh oh, that might tighten him up big time. And it did. Two slices speaks of very tight upper body. I will take my learnings from that. Thank you for what you do for Golf, Garrett.

Sploosh as your hype-man was a W move, he always brings positive vibes! It may not have gone your way, but don't forget that without that one tough hole, you would've been right there at the cut line for the final four. Great job out there, G, that first hole was sick! I can't believe how firm the greens were, even the tour pros were having a tough time with them today!

Best part of this is it shows how you’re like the WWE - all show and entertainment. Kudos on bringing eyes to golf but you’ve got a very long way to go to make it to that level. Love how Micah is honest about his playing and struggles. More authentic imo. Hate away. 😊

KEEP IT UP GUYS. Any logical person who wants to elevate the sport and encourage it's audience to grow knows how much you're doing for the game. I think there's far more pros out there that appreciate what you're doing than you think. Look at who showed up to watch/announce/support. You got people like Phil, Bryson, Joel and the likes in your conner. In no way is something like this replacing a PGA tour event, but its a beautiful compliment to it.
For me, what's so cool is there were about 10 players on this list of 16 that I was genuinely rooting for because I know who they are, what they're like and what they stand for. I can't say that when 150 PGA pros tee it up on a Thursday. What ya'll are doing enables the connection to the person you're rooting for. We don't get much of that with pro athletes.

Blake is seriously the most positive dude I’ve ever seen. No matter how he plays, no matter how many times he’s played elite golf courses, he always always has something positive to say about his round or the course. Couldn’t have picked a better caddy.

Garett, you are a good golfer. And you need to be present in your body and not present in your mind. Your everyday videos and golf is when you can be in your head about shots and think. When it comes to tournaments your mind shuts off and your body takes over. Don’t complicate it. If you wanted to you could tee up right now and shoot a competitive round in a PGA event. You know it and we all see it. You got it.

I played some fairly high tier sports years ago, a big stage is always intimidating and things can feel out of your control. The best thing is familiarity with the pressure and energy and nerves, you did a great job and I i hope you get to compete in more tournaments!!
