    Instead of using felt I used the ring that came with the tissues. It just pops right out, whereas you don’t have to use felt and make a slit. The tissue ring is the same size as the mouth of the mason jar.

    Kelly, This is a new wonderful craft idea for me - easy for my budget to make for craft sales. I had an idea for them too. I woke up this morning and my pet was ill so my sister and I took Butterscotch to the vet and they had displayed around the average looking boxes of tissues. I wanted to make a craft as a thank you for this awesome vet clinic but, couldn't think of one - but, I think I will make a couple of these and I have a friend that has a vinyl cutter - I can maybe put a silhouette of a dog or cat on the jars. I save my plastic and glass small jars for different crafts but, this one is awesome. This is the first time I have ever commented on a you tube video as I am a dummy with techy stuff so I hope this sends. Sorry for the length. Sincerely,
    Rebekah in Alexandria, VA

      Thanks. Before I finished reading your comment, I was thinking you could a dog picture on it. You could also put vinyl paw prints on it, maybe have them going down and around from the opposite side to make it look like the dog or cat walked from the other side. I would love to see a photo of it.

    This was a nice video, but for those who prefer another way, I use chalk paint. I think spray paint is messy, but it's a matter of personal preference. After it dries, apply paper flowers or any design, or even stickers, then adhere and paint all over with foam brushes using Mod podge. I like to use matte, especially if you'll be taking pictures to cut out the glare. After thoroughly dry, (no oven needed), paint with Rust-Oleum, (or any decent brand), varnish. After finishing, add ribbon, jute, and any embellishments you might want. Good luck!

    I am so OVER using chalk paint on jars. I always clean with alcohol, and am very careful to paint and usually let jars rest at least 1 day usually 2-3 days before applying the second coat. EVERY time I am almost done with the second coat the paint tears the first layer off. I try to fix them and they come out looking terrible! Now I am going to try your method of spray painting and putting in the oven.

    I love this idea, not so much placing them in the oven if you cook in your oven. I don't know about that. I'd just seal them. Maybe just leaving them out in the sun a few days and turning them over. I feel this way because I'm not sure if some of the chemicals in the paint might kind of step out and possibly stay somewhere in the oven walls.

    • @mrs.kellyscorner6624
      @mrs.kellyscorner6624  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the jars. Let me know if you try sealing them a different way. I just sealed mine this way because that was the way some others on the Internet suggested. I did make sure I cured them in the oven at a time when I wasn’t going to be using it for a couple or more days.

    • @wiseforce7045
      @wiseforce7045 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrs.kellyscorner6624 Thank you for your reply. I actually would like to make a suggestion since you asked. I was thinking..,How about possibly using like a pretty large toaster oven maybe you can use outside or something just for the art? Another thing I wanted to mention was the thing about using it when you're not going to be using the oven for a couple of days; even if it's not going to be used for a couple of days if there is any fumes that expel and become part of the oven walls in a microscopic level over time we can't see these things so it's best not to use it at all. I don't think a couple of days of not using the oven is going to necessarily make whatever paint is in there disappear from the interior of the oven. I would say just to be as precautious as possible for safety reasons not to use it on an oven that you will cook food in But like I said before , maybe a toaster oven, now., I know a toaster oven is a lot smaller so I don't know how that would work being that the heat is so much closer to the jars. I'd like to to share an experience in remembering an art class I took where we would make pottery & glaze it and put it in an oven/Kilm and that oven always had some kind of a smell even after all the pottery was taken out. Of course that was being used heavily on a daily basis but when thinking of that it makes me think about what could happen over time? I will share another thing., I have family members that don't smell things that I do and don't pick up on things that I detect. I've read that many people that are okay being around paints become so used to it they don't detect certain things that could be there and could be harming in the long run.
      Well., I think I made my point and shared what I feel is important. I want to emphasize again that I do love the jars, they're very beautiful and so above adorable and I can't wait to make them myself. Thank you for again for reaching out and letting me know your thoughts also. I wish you well and may you always be blessed. ✌️ ❤️

      I use the Cricut brand from Walmart, just in black. When you take the transfer tape off, you can’t just pull it off. This is kind of hard to explain, but I’ll try. When you start to take the tape off, fold it back on itself where it is touching itself and go slow, making sure the vinyl is staying on as you go. It is kind of like you are peeling it off instead of just pulling. You may need to use your finger nails, tweezers, weeding tool or something else to hold it down as you peel it off. Make sure you go slow and make sure it is staying on as you go. You will get to practice your patience. Maybe one day I will do a video on how I take the transfer tape off. If you need a better explanation, please let me know.

      I personally think using the transparent contact paper works better than the cricut transfer tape. Sometimes the transfer tape made by cricut is too tacky and the vinyl doesn't release as easy. The glitter vinyl is rough but with practice it gets easier, make sure you're getting your cricut dial to custom though and not just vinyl when using glitter

      I am now using transparent contact paper. One reason I like using it is because it is less expensive. Another reason is because it works great for me.

      Mrs. Kelly’s Corner not only less expensive but you get so much more too.

    Hi!Why did you cook the jars if you sprayed a sealer?

    • @mrs.kellyscorner6624
      @mrs.kellyscorner6624  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Baking them in the oven helps to lock the paint on the jar. It seems to make less scratchable.

    So much easier if you don't use felt, and instead use the actual tops that come with the tissues. Separate them, and the rest is self explanatory.

    Is there anyone here with a cricut machine willing to cut some wording in vinyl for me? If so what would be the cost?

      Karen Haywood i can cut wording for you, what do you need cut? The cost would depend on how many words you want cut :)

    This is a great idea and I would love to make some, but where I live in Australia I have never heard of tissues in a cylinder before! Only ever seen them in square or rectangle boxes or in those lil plastic travel bags. Is it possible to make them with regular boxed tissues?

    • @mrs.kellyscorner6624
      @mrs.kellyscorner6624  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a video on TH-cam that shows you how to use the box type tissues in the jars, but I couldn’t get them to work very well. I may try again later. Maybe you can get them to work. Please let us know how it works out for you. Just remind me who you are when you do let us know.

      I have found a short under 5 minute video on a channel called “For Sophie Designs” which is a troubleshooting video with regards to using rectangle box tissues in the mason jar tissue dispensers, it seems to work for her if anyone wants to look her channel up and give it a go. I am dying to try it myself. I think they would make a lovely gift idea or just a nice addition to our own home decor 🤗

      If it were me. I would try the box type tissues in an unpainted jar first before painting some. That way you would know that you can get it to work. That’s just my opinion, though.

      I either got it with some free fonts on font bundles. net or I got it off the internet and cleaned it up in Design Space. I kind of want to think it came from Font Bundles, though. Sorry I can’t remember exactly.

      Yes, I hot glued the flowers directly to the jar. You could hot glue it to the jute at the top of the jar if you wanted to, though.

    Loved you video! New sub here! I have a question, would it be possible to stenil the words onto the jar using acrylic paint or permanent marker and stencils, and seal it with the mod podge sealer? I don't have one of those cutters and was wondering if this method would work instead. Thank you!

    • @mrs.kellyscorner6624
      @mrs.kellyscorner6624  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I’m glad you liked the tutorial. I am not sure about stenciling on the jars, but I will try to find out about that. I would think it would be possible, though. I will let you know within the next week or so what I find out.

      I've had a Cricut for 15 years. I can tell you that yes you can stencil on it. As with any stencil you use or make, remember less is more. Do several light coats than one that is too heavy a coat of paint. The use of too heavy will almost always result in leaking under the backside of the stencil. I do use my cricut, but you could easily cut one out of clear contact paper to apply to the jars. Be sure to get all the air bubbles out and clip the outside edges so they can overlap so it fits nicely around the curvature of the jars. I hope this helps you out! :)

      The Mod Podge that I used was a clear acrylic sealer. I used the spray kind. Even though mine is a spray, the other kind would be fine, too.
