The slow motion showed that, the build up to the hit, 31 moved himself to the side to make sure it wasn't helmet to helmet. It was a clean legal hit.

Also, ball carriers have no limits as to how hard they can hit the defense, and if the OFFENSIVE player initiates head to head contact then it's the defensive players' fault, as explained by the first thing I said. I get not wanting head injuries because it makes the NFL look bad, but you're playing AND watching the wrong sport if you're worried about getting head injuries.
Player's bodies have evolved since the first game of football was played over 100 years ago, and they will certainly continue to evolve. I see the future defensive players as having no neck or heads at all. They will go out on the field with no helmet. Just legs, arms and shoulder pads. That seems to be what is required to make a tackle these days. They can't remove their own heads before the tackle, so evolution should eventually get rid of it.
The rules that have been adopted in the past few decades completely contradict the REASON this sport found it necessary to wear protective gear on the head. That makes no sense. The only option to prevent injuries in this sport is to eliminate the sport entirely. It makes no sense to protect the bodies with padding and then create rules that protect players because the sport is too violent. If the sport is that violent, eliminate the sport. Still a fan of the big hits, but a lot of changes had to be made with fouls being called in some instances. Good thing I don't complain like other fans do. I go with the end result
They have made shoulder pads so small over the years that helmets are going to hit on every play
I really think bringing back bigger pads would help slow players down enough to minimize impact damage. It would also give them more surface area to hit that isn't the head or helmet.

The Harris hit looked more like he hit the back of his own lineman. The tackler, I don't think, really made any head contact. It seemed like such an insignificant hit at the time. Glad he seems to be doing okay!
