Based on the second-most iconic weapon of the legendary Avenger Thor Odinson, the Stormbreaker axe was crafted on Nidavellir within the heart of a dying star (with the help of Eitri, played by Peter Dinklage) during the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
This followed the destruction of Thor’s former weapon, Mjolnir, at the hands of his evil sister (Hela, played by Cate Blanchett) during Thor: Ragnarok.
Now armed once more and infinitely more powerful, the Mighty Thor confronted Thanos on Earth, impaling his new weapon in the villain’s shoulder... A costly mistake.
As he would remind himself again and again during the events of the follow-up film, Avengers: Endgame, ‘You should have gone for the head...’
With the snap of his fingers, Thanos wiped out half of all life in the universe, sending Thor into a deep depression within the sanctuary of New Asgard. But, as he would come to learn, he was still worthy...
Yet, even with this knowledge, he chose to remain faithful to his new weapon. The Stormbreaker axe was a power unlike any other-possibly even greater than his iconic hammer.
