its easier said than one, actually when it happens one becomes numb and at that moment nothing else matters, just ki kisi trh se uss jgh se uss insan se dur ho jaye,i have experienced multiple times men inappropriately touching at crowded stalls in parties but its just too difficult to face theese creeps especially them having a subtle smile on their faces, mnn krta h muh tod du pr himmt nhi hoti kuch bhi kr pane ki ,i think i failed in this respect in giving them what they deserved ,but bahut chota disgusted sa lgne lgta h,fear of the unwanted its very difficult to overcome that.

My reasons were- 1) Nobody will believe me 2) Everyone will treat me differently after 3) People will question my character. But that incident (and many other that happened before and after it) bothered me for a long period and destroyed my mental health. As i grow old, i realise nobody NOBODY else's opinion matters when it comes to YOUR safety. I will never again stop because of the above 3 reasons because someday I would maybe raise a daughter myself and just thinking that she would have to go through that alone chills me.

Namaste Priya ji - you have mentioned "if you are feeling unsafe - go report it". Very valid Let us discuss the next possibilities from thereon - 1) Police will refuse to accept victim's reporting - since as per their definition - no crime has happened. and unless crime is not occurred they cannot take action. In that case please advice next appropriate action to be taken by victim? 2) In the converse, police may / will call the offender, warn and let off - since crime is absent. 3) Such warning can / will work counter-productive for the victim. 4) The offender may resort to next level which means, victim's vulnerability will increase.
To cut-short, memorable punishment must be awarded in the first instance itself irrespective of nature of crime which must deter the offender for life-time. (Such courageous move, initially, will face many challenges and must defeat all hurdles. But a beginning has to be me made to set the record correct for the future). You will be aware about our legal system's approach for offences that are termed "minor". Please share your opinion and implementable corrective actions such that the term "minor / petty" offence is abandoned.
Btw - is it true that to save the 1% innocent - the 99% guilty are let-off is the basis of our legal system? If yes then, immediate reversal in the fundamental approach will lead to reduction in crime. With many eminent and enlightened professionals in the legal fraternity it is possible to achieve. Mam i believe the reason for women not reporting such small crimes like catcalling, being stared at e.t.c
Is because the process of reporting itself is very lengthy, time consuming and most importantly not having trust in the police and judicial system
If one reports such small crimes, the after math gives much more mental stress
The police may ask the victim to visit the police station, ask them to give written statement, share her details, maybe informing to her parents,
See the process itself is not easy and quick
And more to that there's no trust that the police are taking right action
Even they took right action by arresting him or giving him counseling
In the next day, there's always another creep
I believe that when women feel unsafe in certain places like you mentioned, they ignore it for few minutes and move away or changes the work place
This is easy for women to get rid of them
    Than reporting the crime
If women want to take action, they can't approach police with their parents, their parents will be scared whenever their daughter is outside
She can't go with her friends, because no body will come!
All the women are facing same problems
A woman is always alone during such times
I feel that in general, women intentionally don't want to get into such legal process
The process of reporting and judicial system must change
It should be easy to report
One must gain trust that there will be right action
And there will be quick verdict by court
And the victim should not face so much of hassle that she gets to think "it would've been better if i didn't reported anything, it would be peaceful"
Please correct me if I'm wrong

I think in a culprits mind there are two variables...1.punishment of the offence
    2. Probability of being caught...
So.. basically we should focus more on 2nd one...we can adopt safeguards jaise... emergency ke liye escape shelters should be built...with proper safeguards appointed there...there should be CCTV cameras everywhere... specially in shady zones...where offences are often committed... also unauthorised entry of any outsider..in a hospital or any working place... without ID card should also be prohibited...and ek cheez..most important... SOCIETY SHOULD STOP BLAMING THE VICTIMS... I hope this helps mam..

Extremely well made video. Would just add few things here.
It is also unfortunate that even after 78 years of independence and Right To Equality existing in our Constitution, our country still doesn't have gender-neutral laws for men and crimes such as r*pe, SA, SH, DV, Stalking and voyerism aren't gender-neutral and men cannot file a case and seek justice and female perpetrators cannot be booked. This needs to change asap.
Lastly, I think that policing and judiciary must also improve. We need to have trained police officers and more police officers. Furthermore, we also need to have more courts and better infrastructure so that trials don't go on for years.

At ground level the MNC or such groups should look into the things happening at local level. This will help in creating awareness and helping women.

Very well thought out video, as usual. Unfortunately though, as long as women are taught that its their responsibility to protect themselves and men are not taught that its their responsibility to act civilized and protect the dignity of ALL women, things are never going to change, even if capital punishment is introduced for crime against women. All that harsher punishment and laws will result in is that the men doing the acts will simply keel the woman so she cannot report it.

Actually the men who do small crimes are not working, free all the time however we face this while on our way to work or any other schedule for which we can't get late. If we go to complaint first of all we need proof 2ndly we need to file a complaint.
This procedure itself takes long that people prefer to just ignore such small crimes unless and until it's their valuables that is robbed.
Also if we go to complaint and get late it's our fault at the workplace and we have to face the consequences of salary deduction for being late, etc.

There should be sessions conducted on regular basis say every month to educate both women and child from 10 yr of age onwards regarding women status, respect and contribution to society so that ther are treated as equals right from grass root levels - villages to metro societies.

Similarly all male child above 10 yr of age should be explained in detail about loss to a family, society when a women becomes a victim.. and also laws and punishments every few months.

Ma'am whatever you said is very true that we should stop tolerating and start reporting. But ma'am the dark truth is even if we want we're not able to report because police won't take it . During my college days, last semester I was harassed by my own close batchmates after an argument regarding our semester exams, they started to attack me through s*xual way because yes society and men completely know that is the one thing we women fear so much and how much toll it takes on us and makes us feel defeated. When I tried to talk to those batchmates ,they started to make it bigger and bigger, I went to police but they told me to solve it with them because it was just a minor incident. Women are helpless from every angle, there are laws but, equally there are ways to avoid those. So ultimately we women just tolerate grinding our teeth. Mentality also won't change where males and society have equally fueled the fire of women hatred continuously. When you talked about reporting, many men in the comment section said that it'd increase false cases, which is true that's why cross checking is needed but also during cross checking the culprits can easily cheat if the cases are true. But then again when you talked about reporting the first thing men thought of them being in problem not that we women have been in problems decades after decades that is causing violence, literally women are getting killed , women are dying due to the manifestation of toxic mentality. Where men always think of benefitting themselves even at the cost of women safety, dignity , how can society change? How can the mentality change? How much more privileges men need when the whole system is based on patriarchy, a system the men have created themselves to benefit them, to dominate , to lead ? This is the leadership we get?

I agree with most of the points except "Strict punishment for minor crime will lead to less Heinous crime due to fear" A cornered cat will always attack as its last effort.. 'Im getting punishment now anyways what does it matter if I do more' mentality will start to emerge..
Incidentally cases of 'false reporting' will likely increase and chances are, out of fear males (even the innocent and good guys) will feel disgust towards females and eventually resort to violence i.e. increase in heinous crime rates...
    Social Engineering is tough😰😓

Everything changed...the laws changed, the society changed, the system changed. But it cannot be like that there would not be any murder now because the murder is punishable with the most severe punishment. Because not all criminals are aware of law, and secondly not every criminal is capable of worrying about the consequences.

I guess we need to work on the micro level. Parents must teach their sons to respect women and not treat them as objects. We need to focus more on moral education and do not tolerate narrow-minded behavior of people towards women.

  • @mukeshwahane

I think, moral conduct should be part of basic academic years. If we compare with the countries with zero to minimum crime rates, a strong observation found is that We are lacking in education standards.
