Just found your channel! Can't wait to get thru the rest of your videos. After doing the scoring of the lines am I to assume you are doing a black wash and then painting with brick red paint? In your mortar video the sample is already painted when you start the grout lines
Yes, I do a few coats of black wash, then several coats of varying tones of red using a dry brush technique. Then I use a spray acrylic, with very light coats to seal it. Then I do the mortar. I'm pretty sure I have videos on all the techniques.
TechChucker's Brain Blast thank you! Yes you do have videos on this but I didn’t see the painting one. Again, I’m very excited to binge watch your channel
The first time i drew bricks was at school, it was a medieval castle, teacher made me do it again said it was too neat and straight. I would really like to make some dio's, but you cannot get this foam board in the uk, I am going to try using dry walling see it that works.
+Kuldip Binning I've seen folks use modeling clay that air dries you could try rolling Stone out on a thin board or something so it's flat and then cut your brick lines into it. Put some texture to it then let it dry. Then you could paint it up. Not sure if regular drywall will work, but who knows, I've not tried that at all. I'd luce to see what you come up with.
I was thinking of using plaster of paris, I have bags of it, and it gives a rough finish when spread real thin, remember I said I was dry walling the loft, so have a lot of off cuts. In the uk they call it plaster board. When I find a way to make it work I will let you see. By the way the art I use for my channel was drawn by my son the Design Tech teacher.
It depends on the look you're going for. A dull pencil is gonna make wider lines and that isn't always the look you want. Plus a dull pencil might actually be harder to get into the cut lines. But a sharp or dull pencil can be used.
@@TechChucker I used sharp pencil to shape the basic brick texture, then using a dull pencil to make the brick look uneven and give them the "plaster" between the bricks.
That app is a godsend...I've been using a conversion chart I found on pinterest that converts to 1/12 at set intervals...it's worked pretty well for me, though it can be a pain measuring out 43/64 of an inch...I feel your pain being so meticulous when it comes to plotting, I'm a bit jealous of those confident enough to just eyeball everything, but my brain would never allow me to do that
No one explains dio tutorials as good as you, thanks so much🙌😊
You're too kind. Thank you and I'm glad it was helpful to you.
Thank you for sharing the scale calc app!!!!!!!! Priceless!! And your bricks look perfect. ☺
You're welcome, I hope the app helps. And thank you so much.
Well done!
fantastic
What type of foam do you use? Standard foam boards?? Thanks
You want to look for xps foam👍😊
Make a mould out of it. Then recreate walls with plaster.
I prefer working with foam, but I'd be interested to see how it'd turn out if you try that technique out.

They are art to me too. Not sure I'm ready to start selling mine though. Not that I wouldn't, just need a little more cred behind my name first.
TechChucker's Brain Blast you going to be big watch everyone going to buy your dio man good luck
LOL! That would certainly be an interesting turn of events should that happen. Thanks man, and keep up the great work on your channel.
a dull pencil works much better
