So cool having your childhood pocket knife; you are SO right on that we all had one. We have the same vintage magnifying glass in our purse; antiquer must have LOL. Just last year I took out my black light pen light to check for vaseline glass and china cracks! Great video! Moist toilettes are great to have too in your purse..
Oh yeah those black light pens are wonderful! Our thing was pottery/porcelain and nothing more irritating than to buy a piece that has a hairline we didn't see! That "Antique Pox" is something, isn't it? We never get over it. I will be turning the plates over to look at the mark in friends' houses til the day I die I guess! LOL!
I love the pocket knife story! That's great and really wonderful that you had the ability to realize what a treasure that gift was that you kept up with it for all these years...especially receiving it at such a young age.
I know! it is surprising! I think the secret has been carrying it *everywhere* LOL! When I was very young and first carried a purse, I lost a couple of purses - forgot and left them places. So I got mildly obsessive about not losing another one. :-) Tina
Very nice EDC and that is a great old pocketknife that you got from your grandfather. I'm sure that it is near and dear to your heart. Thanks for sharing.
I try and clean my purse out every week, good video Tina. I really like that flashlight. I love the idea of the shadowbox, sounds like a very sweet tribute to a loved one. Hope all is well with you and Paul, take care and God Bless, xxx
Mine sure can accumulate some trash! LOL! The shadowboxes are really sweet. I ought to make some one of these days.... adding that to the ongoing to-do list. :-) Paul caught up with some of your videos yesterday. He reminded me I have those egg roll wrappers to make your egg rolls with :-) Tina
I know I can get a ton of junk in just one week in my purse, lol. Oh, yes, we made the egg rolls again the other day, we love them. Hope all is well my friend, :) xxx
Way back in the day, a womin's purse was her truest and most personal possession. It usually carried her face, or make up for freshening up and looking her best at all times, and a few personal little things that would bring her reminders of comfort and happiness, like pictures or objects related to her children and home. No one dared mess with mother's purse. Thanks for reminding me, and yes, people would indeed memorialize her purse and contents.
ancientmum This is so true. My grandmothers' purses differed in subtle ways: one used face powder in a compact, the other wore only lipstick. One carried a little "purse butler" because she smoked. But we didn't ever go prowling in their purses - you are right, they were off limits! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your memories. :-) Tina
Great video and thanks for the birthday wishes! I love how you use the 26cent envelopes and I'd love to see a video where you pick a lock with your bobby pins :-)) What wonderful memories with that pocket knife. My grandmother gave me a similar little knife (it had been hers). She said she primarily used it to cut fruit when she traveled. I keep it in a box of mementos and I love it. Great thoughts about what purses can mean. I didn't even think of grabbing a purse for an emergency, lol. Very useful EDC for everyday, your business needs and some emergencies.
I realized as I watched it again that I probably need to make some changes. Of course there are already tools I know I want that aren't these yet - the little key fob ResQme, for example. Add a pencil, they write in all kinds of weather, on many surfaces. Usually I have some bandaids, need to replenish those. I'll take notes as I watch the others :-) It was fun!
Heh I will have to find a really old lock I can pick! Sometimes I have been able to crack the combination locks on little old cast iron banks - they have to be old enough to be made of iron so I can hear the tumblers.
Every time I do a video like this, either I notice something that should be changed and/or there are some great new ideas in the comments. It's definitely part of the fun :-))
The Peaceful Prepper LOL I would have to find one first. We used to come across little coin banks when we sold antiques. Those are the ones that sometimes I could open. :-)
that edge on the light is called a tactical bezel it's for self deference jam that in to a pressure point on an attacker and hell wish he had found a helpless old lady
Thank you for that info! That explains why it is so sharp - I was thinking "someone could get hurt with that"! LOL! No wonder my son insisted that I put this in my purse with the other one! Thanks much for watching and for the feedback, I appreciate it! :-) Tina
I'm sorry, I didn 't see this post until now! Thanks, I will see if I can learn more about it - sounds like there area lot of things I ought to know. Appreciate the knowledge share :-) Tina
Great video. I love that pocket knife. I have a few of my dads pocket knifes but I don't carry them around with me. I also like the redundancy. I was at a restaurant today and was wishing I would have had one of those. I couldn't see the menu. LOL
Oh gosh I know - some restaurants have such low light and tiny print LOLOL! You can always tell my insecurities by what I keep a lot of: no weapons but 40 different ways to make a fire and read a book! heeeeeee!
I'd love to hear the story behind your comment that you used to be good at picking locks when you were younger. Were you a cat burglar? A private investigator? :)
HAHA Sorry to disappoint but nothing untoward or exciting at all. We were in the antiques business, and you get a lot of little coin banks with no combination or key. So during quiet times I would fiddle with them and sometimes I could get one open. They sell for more if you have the combination ;-) However, my grandparents did have a neighbor who had been a real "safecracker" in his youth! He was a house painter by profession in later life. His name was Kirk Morgan, and sometimes the banks would call on him to open vaults for them. But he never taught anyone how to do it :-)
My video would be 10 seconds or less. Money, cards, checkbook. LOL. I can not carry around added weight to my back. So it's a wallet on a string. When I first hurt my back in 82 I used a fanny pack.
Purses can get heavy - sometimes the change alone will add an extra couple of pounds. I could probably get by with that little too, except I just know I would need something the minute I left it at home LOL! I wish they would make fanny packs that are as cute as the old stash bags we used to carry in the 70s. They are secure and smart. We used to use one when doing antique shows. I still have mine.
All I can remember is beautiful quality leather purses. I loved what I had back then. If you would send a photo or share here something. I may be able to remember.
I guess You Tube must have hidden all these posts from me. But now I can see them :-) re making a fork or spoon: EXACTLY! I love the little thing, it has always done what I needed it to do. :-)
Yes, I understood that. Wood is usually plentiful, and I could probably find something to whittle a spoon out of with my little knife. That is a great idea. Thank you!

Thanks MP! It is. Funny how we have these little ties to our past that travel with us. Thanks for watching! :-) Tina
