Great answers from both coaches. I appreciate Marcus Freeman’s answer so much about being the first black/asian coach to coach in the championship game. He understands the honor but realizes without his team he would not be there. This story line is bigger than him.
I don't know if these two are friends IRL, but I wouldn't be surprised if they forge a friendship after this game. They seem to have similar values and approaches. They are only 6 years apart in age. Plus both look to Jim Tressel as mentor/advisor.
Ryan Day took Jim Tressel's advice during the winter workouts. Freeman learned at the knee of Jim Tressel and played for Ohio State. As a lifelong Buckeyes fan, I couldn't be more proud of my Buckeyes. Both coaches are ready to take the mantle to play for it all. This is the last stop, whoever wins this national championship is beyond reproach and will do so by restoring honor to the game. #GoBucks
@hispanieldaniel If you know you know. How dudes be outside the club standing in the cold screaming at the ballers inside having a good time with life? I can't relate with your types.
In my opinion also… these are the 2 most hated teams in college football and have the most iconic uniforms/helmets in the game. Hopefully it’s a good one
Positive interactions all around, if there was 1 team that’d be easy to lose to its ND. And not just as far as playing ball, but how classy the team, the staff, the fan base is. It should be a great game and both teams deserve to win
One set, two cameras...and three greats. Notre Dame is back at the top thanks to Marcus Freeman, and to Ryan Day's everlasting credit -- his team put the Michigan game behind them, and are on the brink of ultimate redemption. People say the Michigan game means more in Columbus than the CFP playoffs. But that feels like "exaggerating to make a point." if given a choice...would Ohio State fans really turn down winning the next 10 CFP National Championships in a row -- and instead chose to win the next 10 Michigan games in a row...with no CFP births? I can't speak for Buckeye Nation, but if I were them, I'd choose the 10 national championships in a row, which would allow Ohio State to replace Nick Saban's Alabama, as the greatest dynasty in the history of college football.
If it was just "is winning the national championship what we desire more than a single michigan game" then yes. If you were to ask if we would rather win 10 vs michigan but never win it all vs win it all 10 years in a row but lose to michigan every single time? it would be a tough question for most
I know It's Ohio State vs Notre Dame but there is a lot of Buckeye in this. Freeman Learned under Tress and Coach Day still learns from him coming in.. also is 1 of my favorite LB's to play the game. No matter what happens to Notre Dame in this and if they end up Losing, what Marcus has done there is phenomenal..
Interesting on them mentioning MLK day but only decided to ask Freeman what that day ment to him because he's the first. Why not ask Ohio state coach as well what MLK day means to him also 🤔
To high-quality humble coaches. It is going to be a pleasure to watch two honorable programs go at it Monday night. Great clip. Thank you to Fowler and ESPN for sharing respect and not click bait.
3 Great Blue bloods.. 2 great coaches with great staffs.Great players on both sides. They worked hard to get here. Hardest season ever.. No SEC team. This game may break the viewership record!
This is definitely the game Marcus did not want to have to play in this tournament. Former buckeye/buckeye fan, 0-2 vs osu already, and being an almost 10 point underdog. I am a buckeye fan but would not be mad if we lose to Notre Dame here. I want to see Marcus win almost as much as i do the Buckeyes 😂
You ain’t a buckeyes fan being ok w the other team winning lol. It’s one thing to respect freeman as a coach getting the team to the natty and for his morals. But another to be okay with osu loosing🤣
Marcus and Joanna met at Ohio State University when Marcus played as a linebacker for the Buckeyes. Coach Marcus renewed his faith in Christ Jesus in Aug of 2022 and joined the Catholic Church. He is a great spiritual leader to those young men with a beautiful wife and 6 kids. This is his testimony of God's grace living before his players daily. We are an Easter People and Jesus is our King. God cares about the souls of the young men on both teams. Marcus even said he pulls for Buckeyes when he is not playing them. Thankful for this coach, team and how the Lord is bringing a massive renewal of love for Christ Jesus and using players, coaches and fans.
That question to Marcus Freeman about "being the first hyphenated American coach at an NC" was very cringe. And Freeman knew it and was very diplomatic in his answer. He doesn't put much stock in that stuff and neither should anyone else.
Kinda sucks that Freeman wanted to be part of the Ohio State staff and the guy sitting next to him turned him down, but he gets the last laugh by being a successful Notre Dame coach.

Fowler is ignoring the amount of money OSU has paid last three years in NIL money to build their roster. I remember 3 years ago when Saban and Day made beggar appeals to fan base for more moeny
Stop regurgitating that ignorant narrative. ND brought in more transfersguys this year, and has paid just as much or more in NIL. Oregon paid more, Texas paid more and look what happened.
Notre Dams has more transfer players. Ohio State has mainly homegrown guys that have been there for years. I think they’ll have 3 transfer players on the field Monday
Public information on ND’s roster cost: 20.5 million dollars ND added more players than OSU Saban and Day didn’t make “beggar” appeals, it’s called fundraising. The landscape of college football has change, get with it or get left behind.

“Restoring honor to the game” …well said. Both teams have climbed this mountain the right way
What advice did Day take of Tressel's during winter workouts? Surely it wasn't the "beat Michigan", or "win the Big Ten Championship" advice.
I think tress’s advice was something along the lines of “pay no mind to morons like hispanieldaniel”
Day: who?
Tressel: exactly
