Grew up in the Gainesville music scene but remember little of it unfortunately. And now I’m crying my eyes out bc no matter how much I see it with folks on the streets that I work with, I forgot what it was like to be me back then and for the millionth time today I asked myself, how on earth did I get here. My life is good. I was all alone for many years. If only I could have really heard this song back then. I hear it now though, loud and clear. What a gift.

One of the best Punk Rock bands out there today. Their incredible melodic guitar sound sends Waves all trough your body and you cant sit still. I have loved Against Me for many years. When I found out about Laura Jane and her struggles I became more in love with the band: I love every song on this album, but this song is so perfect punk. The fact that Brian Fallon has both talked about being christian and commented directly on Laura in the scene, and I still don't have to write him off as a shithead is amazing.
I knew a lot of my friends and my family wouldn't accept me when I came out- but I'm lucky enough to be living independently with my partner. I'm an adult, I make more money than my parents, more than most of my friends, I'm not at all dependant on any of them, nothing bad would materially happen to me if they reacted negatively. It was almost a good feeling- telling them that if they couldn't accept me for who I was, then we had nothing to say to each other. They can come back when they have grown up a bit, or not at all. I feel like this song kinda embodies that same feeling. They can fuck off. If me starting to transition is such a problem- it's their problem, and their loss.
In 2008 I saw Against Me! Stop the show in Regina, SK. to get a guy who was starting fights in the crowd thrown out. It was the second coolest thing I've seen in all the concerts I have been to thus far. HUGE fan, Love this song, and I hope to see them again one day!!!

One of the best Punk Rock bands out there today. Their incredible melodic guitar sound sends Waves all trough your body and you cant sit still. They way Laura uses her voice to not just improve the song itself,but the way she Changes levels in her voice that just creates a different sound all together.

I have loved Against Me for many years. When I found out about Laura Jane and her struggles I became more in love with the band: I love every song on this album, but this song is so perfect punk. It delivers all the emotions anger and disillusioned mind frames that many punk kinds in the early 2000’s feel now.

I knew a lot of my friends and my family wouldn't accept me when I came out- but I'm lucky enough to be living independently with my partner. I'm an adult, I make more money than my parents, more than most of my friends, I'm not at all dependant on any of them, nothing bad would materially happen to me if they reacted negatively.
It was almost a good feeling- telling them that if they couldn't accept me for who I was, then we had nothing to say to each other. They can come back when they have grown up a bit, or not at all.
I feel like this song kinda embodies that same feeling. They can fuck off.
