- This week has been truly magical, our days are filled with baby goat cuddles, creating in the art studio and cooking delicious meals for Anastasia’s birthday!

We are sisters, Julia and Anastasia Vanderbyl. A few years ago, we began a journey to live a life in perfect harmony with nature. A life of caring for animals, growing fruit, planting trees, gardening, cooking, creating, building and learning to live with the land.
In this time, nature has taught us more than we could have ever imagined.
Our environmental films document the landscape, the lessons we’ve learnt and our work as regenerative farmers here on Bundjalung Country.
We live on the land of the Arakwal and Minjungbal People of the Bundjalung Nation. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live on and recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters. We thank them for protecting this rainforest and its ecosystems since time immemorial.

What a great coincidence, Paul Tudor! I am from Rio de Janeiro-Brazil and in that year I was 21 yrs old and working in a aviation company (Cruzeiro do Sul), when a coworker told me that one of his brother was working as a truck driver pulling wood and they needed a lot of workers for the company. I refused because I had never left Brazil and at that time we didn't have so much informations about the world as we have today. But... I can't imagine my life today if I had tried. And I never heard from my colleague again! Greetings from Brazil!

I'm glad you was able to enjoy your birthday, Anastasia. Sometimes it is the simplest things which we will remember especially if it is time spent with loved ones. This just makes me wonder what you two will be doing for Julia's birthday whenever it is. Working on the jacket together is another great example of how strong the bond is between you two. I hope you two will always have that strong bond for as long as you two live. It did surprise me that Julia attempted to sew the designs since I thought that was more of Anastasia thing. The meal made sense considering we usually see Julia the one cooking. One thing about your videos is I learn things like I always thought the rain forest almost always had rain instead of having a wet\dry season like many other parts of the world.

Looks like you enjoyed your birthday. The goats remind me of my childhood. The small wooden 'gadget' at about 19' is for darning woolen socks. I remember my grandmother using one. You slide the sock over the tool to where the hole is - then you sew it back together.

The wooden mushroom of your grandmas was used for darning. Eg hole in a sock , inserting mushroom into sock as a backing to close up hole. I've got one too...inherited from my own grandma 🙂 love your feed

This may be the most joyful episode so far. The baby goats on a seesaw is something I so pleased you shared. Also your amazing embroidered jacket. My favourites are the embroidered ducks, but the whole jacket is so cool. I expect women everywhere are in love with it.I also love how the goats just accept that both of you are like their aunties looking after them. Happy Birthday Anastasia . That wooden dolly is for darning socks. Can be used for other sewing jobs. My mum use to have one. Back then we had to repair things. Really enjoy your wonderful programmes. They give us all a bit of joy in difficult times.
I hope you two have enough since to never leave what you have on your farm. Biggest burden that I have to carry in my life is when my parents split up and us kids were taken away from farm life. Nothing in life has been right since.
You girls are so awesome working together there it cries out to me the desire to be back on a farm.

Love the goats! Quite a few years ago, when I was still a shepherd with my goat herd, two dogs and two horses, one of my goats, Patty Cake, gave birth to an early kid in cold January. Honey Pie was born about a month before any of the other goats had their kids. Since it was so cold, well below freezing, I brought Honey Pie into the cabin at night where she would be warmer. My wife and I, in those years, were sleeping on a mattress on our one room cabin floor, right next to the wood stove. Honey Pie slept in between us in our bed for about two weeks. Our two dogs, Lucky and Curly, Border Collies, both slept on the floor right at the head of our bed so they could keep an eye on Honey Pie. Seeing your two kids nestling in for a snooze on your lap brought back some of those darling goat memories for me. Summer's just winding down now here in these tall mountains in Canada. Early September now with the bears showing up regularly to raid the apple and plum trees of their fruit, while spring is arriving down your way in grand Australia. Enjoy your beautiful spring!
