Can Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip XT Pro Extra Cut be used to smooth rust pits?

  • Dave from Milwaukee doesn’t think nonwoven discs are tough enough to smooth out rust pits. Is that fact or fiction? We put our new Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip XT Pro Extra Cut Disc with aluminum oxide to the test to find out.

    What would you use to polish it to remove lines?

      Thank you for your question! It depends on your end goal, but a surface conditioning A-VFN disc would be a good option to remove the lines. After removing the rust, the surface is good enough for at least 3 mils of paint to coat. The existing lines will not show in the paint job.
