Giving the part of Regina to Rachel macadams was the best casting call they made. She made the movie.

Sorry, but Ashley Tisdale would have done a totally stereotypical, exaggerated mean girl, which is what she did in Highschool Musical, because let's face it, she's a very average actress and an even more average singer. The reason Regina George became almost an iconic character is that Rachel is an amazing actress that totally nailed her part.

They got the casting perfectly. Honestly, I can't find any flaw in casting. All the characters look like teenagers, unlike Scarlet, which looks like an adult. I didn't like the math guy, though

Lindsay was never cast as Regina. Lindsay wanted to audition for Regina because she had already played the nice girl in Confessions and Freaky Friday so she wanted a character switch, but the director said he'd considered her in the movie only to play Cady and no one else. Rachel had originally auditioned for Cady, but the director thought she'd make a better Regina.

When Regina got hit by the bus that was shot at my high school, ECI, also when Cady was walking up to the school on her first day as well when Cady was skipping and Regina was being carried out onto the field that was my football field in the back, its so cool looking at the movie and seeing the places I hung out. The famous Christmas dance was in my auditorium too

Lindsay Lohan only *auditioned* for the role of Regina, but her managers wanted her to play the main character to please her fan base from Freaky Friday the previous year, and I am very glad that they did. I could not see Lindsay playing Regina. The casting is perfect the way it is❤️

Actually what I read in interviews with the cast members is that it was the director's decision to recast lindsay, lindsay actually really wanted to play regina cause she'd never played a popular girl before, but she was eventually satisfied with the fact that she turns into regina halfway through the movie. Also amanda was at one point cast as regina, but the director said amanda's portrayal as her was too frightening so they switched her to karen. They also felt that rachel was the perfect choice for regina because all the other actors were naturally intimidated by her.

I watched something that said that Lindsay wanted the role of Regina but since no one could really strongly portray Cady opposite her, the producers asked her to read for Cady.
Everything fell perfectly to its place.
honestly, the casting was on point. i'd change cady because lindsay lohan's acting was unnatural, but besides that, the casting was a match made in heaven.

Its almost scary how perfect these original cast was.
Casting was fabulous, one of the best castings ever :P beautiful girls all around and none of them looked fake like in Mean Girls 2.
I knew most of these, expect the Ashley Tisdale and Scarlett. I think Scarlett would of made a fantastic Karen, but the idea sort of turns me off. I like the fact that they got lesser known actors and actress to be casted. Sadly they won't make a reunion if Lindsay can't get her shit together.

i know it's already great as it is, but i am intrigued by how lindsay would approach regina. i think she'd be perfect for it since regina appeared sweet and kind to everyone but is secretly mean. lindsay's look is sweet and kind and she is even soft spoken, so when she would switch to the real regina, it would've been waay more impactful-- like how could a sweet, innocent looking, soft spoken, baby-faced girl (lindsay as regina) be sooo mean. i think they were going for the wolf in the sheep's clothing vibe for regina. there is a reason why lindsay was first chosen as regina and only became cady by her request.
and amanda seyfried would've been also perfect as cady because she is stand-out gorgeous but doe-eyed, looking and innocent at the same time. which would put sense why she was getting so much attention in the school when she first moved in.
Couldn't imagine the movie any other way than it was. It is/was comic gold.
The casting was perfect! I'm glad it turned out the way it did, even though some of the casting choices might not have been intentional, it all turned out for the better in the end. I guess it goes to show that sometimes unexpected pitfalls can lead to even better opportunities! I doubt this movie would've been the huge success it was, if the cast had been any different. IMO all the casting choices at the end were much better picks than the ones they were considering in the beginning, and in terms of appearance I think the final draw resembled the characters quite perfectly.
I actually liked the cast how it is! But maybe just maybe I would consider Ashley Tisdale to play the dumb girl but I think the original cast was better.
