@@thealluringmysticc I guess you’re right In a way, it just sucks that as a cultural thing a Grammy holds a lot of power in the trajectory of a musicians career even if it is just politics at the end of the day. I feel like it would be pretty significant for them to win one but then again music and art is subjective.
KINTSUGI is a Japanese form of art where they repair broken vases or plates with gold. It’s a metaphor for embracing your imperfection. It’s such a emotional song. 😢
She rivaled Virginia Woolf with her stream of consciousness writing. When I first listened to it, I didn't necessarily like it, but I kept listening to it because I felt like there was something under the surface. Then after like 20 listens I was sobbing uncontrollably. Lana said it's a bad song but I completely disagree. It's one of her most personal and heart wrenching.

For Paris, Texas, the instrumentals are actually from a song that has already been released by SYML, called "I Wanted To Leave" and Lana was somehow able to CREATE LYRICS and SING OVER AN ALREADY FIXED INSTRUMENTAL. That is just...talent at this rate
This whole album is so poetic it definitely takes another listen to fully take in all the lyrics and hear the stories being told by Lana. After having it on repeat it is one of my fav albums, it’s such an honest album and a transformative side of Lana.
@@dwohtss the way it didn’t. No album with TNBAD & Cardamom Gay on it is a match for an album like Hoecean which is literally more or less flawless until the last 3 tracks, & even those last 3 tracks add to the album
@@f4gsforpele uhh nfr has the title track, cinnamon girl, the greatest, mariners apt complex, happiness is a butterfly, love song, and bartender. yes it clears that flop. ur fav has 2 very boring interludes and peppers which has terrible lyrics.
Lana has also released three new songs since this album a vault track titled say yes to heaven , and two songs with her father Lost At Sea and Hollywood Bowl. We would love one video on all three of those!
It’s actually crazy what A&W did to me when it got released. If it weren’t for the interludes this album would have the potentiality to be my favorite of hers.
@@sarinaazari3187 I can bop to Jon Baptiste interlude every now and than, but I only listen to Judah smith when I’m really busy and can’t skip it or feeling depressed and need some words of wisdom.
I think the interludes are very strong and can feel uncomfortable because of the subject matter. I force myself to listen to them because she included them as part of the narrative, and honestly, I understand them more and more every time I listen to them. The entire album is a masterpiece.
@@ashvelthecousin peppers is really good too, but i kinda agree with ajay on this one! it has too much information sonically speaking so it makes it hard for me to listen to it too often or until the end. but it sure is a bop, i don't mind vibing to it once in a while
After norman lana really turned her music to the internal side of herself… and the fact that she has made an album so deeply personal that speaks to so many people… talk about speaking your own language in a way everyone understands. Such a masterful artist.
Antonoff gets so much shit (and I have my problems with some of his work as well), but I honestly think he’s the best thing to happen to Lana. Whenever they collaborate, I feel like we’re getting Lana’s authentic and best self and he brings out something in her that makes her truly ethereal and goddess-like. And this is coming from someone whose been a fan since Born to Die.

yes! somehow the more personal and specific she is in her songwriting, the more relatable it feels
Completely agreed. Also, shoutout to the other producers Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes and Mike Hermosa. All them, and Jack, contribute to the fact that the album sounds magical
@@W4TSKY Why does Antonoff gets so much shit?(just asking). Everything he's done with Lana, Folklore and his songs on Florence's "Dance Fever" are literally flawless.
kintsugi is a metaphor of a japanese art style of creating pottery and then cracking it to pieces, but then putting it back together and most times painting the cracks with gold paint. the judah smith interlude was more of a artistic vision then a song that was meant to be enjoyed, it’s a sermon about lust and not being faithful and it’s placement right after A&W was very much intentional. fingertips was basically a spoken poem that is very personal to lana, as she sings about her family, her past suicide attempts, and more.

Ajay has come and granted our wishes like a genie in a bottle. Lana Del Rey has what it takes to get us captivated through the whimsicality and unpredictability of her own music and songwriting.
this album is beyond a masterpiece. I truly wasn't expecting this but I rank it as my 2nd favourite Lana album. moved me in ways I can't even describe. The Grants. Sweet. Candy Necklace. Kintsugi. Fingertips. PARIS TEXAS. LET THE LIGHT IN!!!! I get so emotional just thinking about the album
She references NFR at least 3 times. In Candy Necklaces she said "Cinammon in my teeth" from "Cinnamon Girl". In Fingertips she references Bartender with the rhythm from .15 to .22 seconds, and the last and mos obvious is Taco Truck x VB. This album is prefect from beginning to end, if she doesn't win a grammy this time they can all go f*ck themselves lol
I’ve never clicked on a video faster IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! This album means so much to me I can’t even express it into words and I’m so glad I can finally see the queen AJay react to it!!!😢❤
Fingertips is pure poetry made in a song. So far is my favorite with Kintsugi. I've been a Lana's fan for almost a decade and when you know what she have been through, Fingertips hits different to the point that you can feel her pain. First I heard it i cried so bad.
Same here especially how it referenced back to “This Is What Makes Us Girls” and her being sent away. I can def empathize with that whole experience being traumatic.

Also I think she needs to revisit because of the lyrics that she didn’t understand like in Fingertips. Honestly its the deepest song in the álbum and I feel she just missed it 😭
Honestly Lana’s album is not for “reaction videos” because you can’t fully understand what she singing about at first listen. And this album is telling the story of her more personal. Kintsgi and fingertips is broke my fucking fragile heart. But loved it so much❤
Finally someone who resonates the same love for 'let the light in' .... It's so beautiful, simple and yet something so magical about it. .. like gathering with your fav ppl n just humming along ... I love it so much... It brings me so much joy like an intimate feeling of being happy ❤
The piano in Paris, Texas is actually the exact same composition as SYML’s song I Wanted to Leave*. That’s why they were featured. Lana just added new lyrics to the already existing song. very cool!
"Where the hell was Tommy?" got me in tears 😂 The fact that Ajayii did not realize the chorus is actually a sample from canadian rapper Tommy Genesis is interesting. It is mostly due to the two songs before with musicians/bands playing along with Lana's voice, and also Ajayii is clearly not familiar with TG. It's like if Lana used a spell on her through the album in a way to leave her confused and mezmerised at the same time.
Surprisingly the song I keep coming back to the most in this album is Fingerprints. Maybe it's bc I'm going through shit rn but the amount of tragedy in that song is unparalleled. Each line hits you hard but the one that stuck with me is when she was singing about astral projecting to hold the ghost of a loved one and watch tv with them while comforting them. That shit hurts.
Lana always knows how to open an album, how to close an album and how to make a title track❤️ this and midnights are my favs in recent releases and so happy she loved both❤️❤️
@alexanderreyes6611 Lust for life being the title track is also one of the best song on the album. It is beautiful and a great collab with the weeknd overall
this really is her best album as a whole, no song is a skip (except maybe the judah smith interlude ofc), there’s a song for everything and she opens up so little but bc it’s Lana it feels like she’s finally opening up a lot...loved every second of this reaction 😂
margaret really growns on you. it's a light song, it feels like a conversation between friends cause it kinda is! i really hope you give another shot to this one 💖
I feel like Margaret is a song between friends in which a guy friend (Jack Antonoff) opened up to Lana about his quarrel with his fiance (Margaret) whether if he should fight or give it up and Lana keeps giving him advices (when your love is in trouble, you're old enough, so you'll know what to do...).
It is actually about what falling in love feels like, and an homage to how Jack felt when he first met Margaret Qualley. And the answer is literally “when you know you know”. If you have to ask yourself how do you know, then the answer is no. Because you just know. “You gotta run like your head is on fire” is the actual feeling. And “your love is in trouble” is actually ironic. When Jack first met Margaret he though “I might be in trouble” because he just knew she was his woman. “When you know you know and when you’re old you’re old” actually means that just as you take being old for granted, it is the same as knowing that you’re in love.
Honestly help me to understand this please because I cant :'( ive just tried so hard to love the album and i cant connect with it at all like many of u, the interludes are still a big turn off to me and thats why i find the album kinda inconsistent
@@kevinjimenez5241 The lyrics are the most emotional and poetic that she’s ever written. It’s her strongest album vocally. Production is perfect. Plus the best features of her career. It’s not a record for everyone, maybe it’s just not for you?
@@alexcats777I don't skip them 😢. I know everyone doesn't want a pastor yelling at you for 4 minutes, but fucking hell the instrumentals on both interludes are way so good, I dare to say that the instrumentals are better than some of the instrumentals on actual songs in the album. I love it from beginning to end tho, one of my favorite albums for sure.
@@Julian.Romero13 so so true, and its really sad because i ADORE the piano on both of the interludes but the screaming is just too much, regardless of how good the instrumental is
In Kintsugi she’s singing about her uncle and grandmother passing away. I lost my grandma last year and I this song hit me hard. No song has ever made me cry so hard
Yes I agree! I love judahs interlude. I think alot of people are turned off by religion but his words resonate even from a non religious perspective..everything he said could be spoken by a Buddhist or an atheist and still be just as powerful. At the end of the day alot of religious preaching is just symbolic poetry, and to me this is just a poem about desire.
@@ivehadituptohere24exactly! I'm atheist but even the Bible has some great messages that you can incorporate into your own life. The Judah interlude has such a lovely piano
Let me explain y’all.. I was NOT expecting this album to make me cry, but oh damn it did. I was waiting on you to come back because I just knew you would love it as much as I did, it was hopeful and sad and beautiful, Lana was healing and you can tell.
The first time I listened to this album I was on a flight to California and honestly that was just the right mindset I needed cause lawd seeing the clouds as I drowned by her beautiful voice it was amazing
Fingertips and Kintsugi are absolute masterpieces! It may be difficult to get it from the first listen, so revisiting them is essential. Both songs made me cry 😢
I actually think that this album might surpass NFR or BTD after a couple more listens (if we're ignoring any nostalgia factors or other external associations). This album might be Lana's best work.
Its her most all encompassing work, i feel like its got a bit of every album shes made in the past and it’s beautiful. I love this album and i def think its her best work
5:03 😭 killed me lmao, I was vibing with her and it literally made me jump and twitch a little as well, we’ve all waited so long for this and she never disappoints, loving it already ❤️ also this is a masterpiece and she deserves all the awards!!
This is so Grammy worthy and honestly she should have a better chance this year depending on how the new Olivia Rodrigo and Renée Rapp albums go. Renée is definitely on an upward trajectory. Ice Spice is another big one but I don’t see her competing for AOTY. I feel like the Barbie Movie Soundtrack could get an AOYT nom too!
@@ifyougettheblueslana’s album is sm better than those. and i think she will get a nomination. i don’t think she will win just because her music is so different.
I have to say, i feel this is my favorite album of hers because of how honest she is here on a personal level. when i first heard fingertips i felt like she was laying her head on my lap and i was caressing her hair while she told me what happened. especially bc it released right after the billboard event where she said that she's truly happy now. she told us a lot of bad things that happened to her, that r*** and the bad relationship with her mother, she said a lot in lives during the release week as well, and i honestly thought "she lived all those things and still can be happy after all of that, why cant i be happy" and i've been struggling with depression for years now, i feel like the album really touched my heart as much as it has shown us hers
I don‘t think she was actually r****, I think it‘s more about how in general a lot of the time ppl doubt the credibility of women who are victims and therefore a lot of the time they don‘t press charges „if I told you that I was r**** do really think that anybody would think I didn‘t ask for it“
I think the sermon in the Interlude adds a lot context to the album. He is preaching about lust and jealousy but then ends the sermon by confessing he is mostly preaching to himself. I think it's Lana's way of saying she is writing about HERSELF. Not a character, like so many critics and fans think.
I agree, it brings beautiful context to the story arch of the album, the church, the gods, the human condition, morality, lust, love, end of life, the tunnel of light, death, memory, eternity
this is one of those albums that keep growing on you more and more with each listen-its currently my favorite from her. This album is such an emotional journey from start to finish you get so engrossed in it. so many gems along the way. arguably some of her rawest darkest and most delicate work to date. gorgeous.

KINTSUGI is a Japanese form of art where they repair broken vases or plates with gold. It’s a metaphor for embracing your imperfection. It’s such a emotional song. 😢

Her honesty and emotional openness in fingertips is enough to call it her best song yet. It will be hard to top that.
I get mad that Ajay took it so superficially💔, fingertips is a very sad song with a lot of meanings, not just vocals

She rivaled Virginia Woolf with her stream of consciousness writing.

After norman lana really turned her music to the internal side of herself… and the fact that she has made an album so deeply personal that speaks to so many people… talk about speaking your own language in a way everyone understands. Such a masterful artist.
Antonoff gets so much shit (and I have my problems with some of his work as well), but I honestly think he’s the best thing to happen to Lana. kintsugi is a metaphor of a japanese art style of creating pottery and then cracking it to pieces, but then putting it back together and most times painting the cracks with gold paint. the judah smith interlude was more of a artistic vision then a song that was meant to be enjoyed, it’s a sermon about lust and not being faithful and it’s placement right after A&W was very much intentional. fingertips was basically a spoken poem that is very personal to lana, as she sings about her family, her past suicide attempts, and more.

Intro in Margaret sounds for me like Love song from NFR!!!

“When you know you know and when you’re old you’re old” actually means that just as you take being old for granted, it is the same as knowing that you’re in love.

this is great! I hope you’re doing well and I hope you’ll find happiness in life! goodluck my friend
@@adambronz yes! it's such a transcendetal album
I use to watch you when I was 18 I’m now 23 and feels so nice coming back and feeling like nothing has changed. 🖤
this is one of those albums that keep growing on you more and more with each listen-its currently my favorite from her. This album is such an emotional journey from start to finish you get so engrossed in it. so many gems along the way. arguably some of her rawest darkest and most delicate work to date. gorgeous.
Absolutely agree! The more you listen to it, the more you love it❤
Same for me it grown on me till it became my favourite
Her reaction to A&W is absolutely how all of us reacted to it lmfao
