    My last car was Chevrolet Beat... Although I have no issues with the quality and performance of the car, but I definitely feel cheated as they packed their bags so suddenly. This increased significantly my maintenance cost of the car also reduced it's resale value. Ultimately I have to sell my car at a through away price.. Lesson learnt.. never trust American Brands...

    • @mukulpanwar7034
      @mukulpanwar7034 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Let me tell you one thing. Cruze and Aspire are not even American. Aspire was based on Figo (R and D done in UK) and Cruze was developed by GM Korea. These countries have a expertise about small cars and they can make them reliable too.

    • @mukulpanwar7034
      @mukulpanwar7034 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Let's talk about China. If you see GM and Ford have a lot of models too offer in China but at other markets they have very less. For example: GM brand Buick has 3 models for sale in US but in China they have 16. 13 out of 16 of these models are China specific. The reason is joint ventures and high sales. China is the largest car market in the world. Also American car manufacturers are quite respected there due to some historical reasons. So the foreign car makers establish joint ventures with domestic Chinese car manufacturers like GM has a venture with SAIC and Ford has with Changan. SAIC and Changan knows their home market and with the help of American tech they can easily design cars that will suit a Chinese buyer. Also these manufacturers wants to attract every buyer so they launch multiple models. This is nothing VW group has joint ventures with 2 Chinese car manufacturers and together it has more than 10 factories in China manufacturing Skoda, Audi and VW vehicles. Honda is in similar position too. You see, Honda also has 2 joint ventures there. And the most shocking part is that they sell 3 cars at the same segment (City, Gienia and Graze), they even even sell the 2nd gen City (4th gen in international market) as the Everus S1. They even sell the 8th gen Civic with a different name that was discontinued in the late 2000s in India. Why? Because they want to attract every buyer and because these models have smaller engines so these are not banned by the government too there. Chinese government only cares about emissions but not safety. They sell these older models to those buyers who have very less money but want a cheap sedan. Sedans are quite respected there and sells in good numbers too.

As far as i can remember, it was the first car in the compact sedan segment to offer 6 airbags even back in 2015. The car has run 75,000kms and still hasn’t broken down even once. The 1.5L tdci diesel is a tank of an engine. I use it for city rides and long trips and i get around 18kmpl in city and 25+kmpl on highway. Overall, a great car. Too bad ford quit India or maybe too bad people don’t get to enjoy such amazing cars anymore.

    As an American brand, their infrastructure setup in India was commendable, which showed their commitment, but due to lack of funding, and taxation and no support, they had to shutdown unwillingly. Their product has been good from initial days, only the people without right mindset would question their commitment. They went from questionable manual half folding windows, to segment first 6 airbags in Figo Aspire. Ecosport, even though it is a failure in many markets, it did out perform even Figo in sales. It has been built so well that it needed very little updates throughout its lifetime, and even stood the test of time , in quality. The engine had warranty of 3Lakh Kms, which none gave in that class. Even Maruti Brezza being a rival, was unable to match the quality of materials, being in its class. Neither did Creta withstand the VFM, and had to move a segment up to make profit. Even today Indian manufacturers are having preying eyes on Ford's plant, just like scavengers to make a best of it. It is that good, as they had built for handling CBU & CKD vehicles.

      People badmouthing Ford just cos it's American don't know what they're talking about. American brands, and in fact European and Japanese brands too, do cost more but that's for a reason - they provide top notch quality and are the innovators in whatever they do. Indian brands copy (or, try to copy) some of the things that American companies develop after spending a lot of money on R&D. The values and philosophies that foreign brands operate on results in excellent products.
      Also, Indians are weird. They want great stuff but they want it cheap. It doesn't work that way.

    I think the American mindset is always geared towards maximum greed & which creates self-centred attitudes towards themselves & are not ready to let go of something to understand the issues & the correct customer requirements for that particular market which leads to their eventual downfall in not just cars but many other products too, their service attitude is also very poor compared to many Asian & European companies.

    Excellent video, also as someone who has spent some time in Houston, and seen the differences first-hand, I can say this with certainty that the reason true American vehicles would never work in our India is because of their sheer size, scale and excessive power which leads to very high fuel consumption plus the ridiculous maintenance.
    Also unke cars, especially pickup trucks n everything is substantially BIGGER in size. Also much wider than you would think. 6'4 roof height for the infamous Dodge Ram and a monstrous 8feet 3inches for their new basic Promaster vans. Also unka focus hota hai on raw power output more often than efficiency and as a result most American cars are superior performance wise by a long shot.
    The width of their vehicles would create a lot of problem on Indian roads. Jeep Rubicon hi utarwa lo UP me petrol pump se nikalte nikalte aadhe muhalle me jam lag jata hai

    American companies jo gaadiyaan USA mein bechti hai wo bahut hi jyada badhiya hai aur updated hai lekin jab wohi sab gaadi bahar bechna ho toh alag alag countries ke alag alag import aur tax rules ke wajah se cost badh jaati hai aur poor economy & per capita income ke wajah se log usko kharid hi nahi paate aur uss sab American companies ko same products ki cost cutting karni padti hai aur phir log judge karne lagte hain ki isme wo nahi hai wo nahi hai aur phir bolte hain design innovate nahi hai update nahi hota blah blah. Toh galti un companies ki nahi hai, hamari aur govt ki hai. Agar import & tax rules mein changes hoga aur public uss premium features ke badle paise kharch kar sake toh phir se revive ho sakta hai sab kuch. Kyunki American companies ki gaadi ki build quality aur engineering badhiya hoti hai e.g. Ford, Chevrolet, Harley Davidson etc.

    American manufactured cars have reliable build quality. I live in USA and I own Mazda. I just rear tapped Chrysler vehicle and my front grill shattered. My friend(Indian) owned a ford vehicle and some lady driving Toyota front ended his car and her cars hood caved in. Japanese/ European cars shatter easily but American cars are tough. Yeah they might have engine issues but my philosophy is as long as you service your car regularly you do not need to worry. In India as the video says American vehicles will not be able to perform better sales wise because they are expensive and give less mileage. But at the end of the day if you want a good build quality you cannot expect a good mileage car. I watched a Indian dash cam video where a person in Delhi driving eco sport and a over speeding lorry diagonally front ended him and the car rolled with a crazy spin but the car driver is not harmed. And then we have vehicles like Maruthi that turned mush after crashing inti HERO splendor. 😁

    Unlike Japan, India and US are similar in geography, only that India did not have great highways like in US.
    Now all that is going to change with Delhi Mumbai express highway that is not only going to connect these two major cities, but many more cities throughout northern India with spur express highways from neighboring states.
    South India already has brilliant highways.
    Once Indians start going on road-trips with their families across India, they'll realize safety is as important as fuel economy. The great Indian families will find travelling in budget cars with tiny engines very cumbersome on long rides. That's when American companies will reenter India with their massive engines and super spacious SUVs with creature comforts.
    When an American auto manufacturer leaves a country, it simply means the market they are leaving has not matured enough to appreciate the advantage of American cars.

    One issue that I see is that in India the Govt is not giving importance to the build quality and safety of cars. That’s why maruti and Hyundai etc companies can manufacture sub standard quality cars and get away. These cars also give good mileage because they are light weight due to very poor build.
    Other companies like the Tata, Mahindra and us cars place very high importance on safety and build quality. First and foremost the Govt must put an emphasis on build quality and safety ratings in ncap. Next the Govt must also re look into the taxes on cars which eventually make them expensive to buy and maintain.

  • @ultimatestoryteller
    @ultimatestoryteller 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    India is a average conscious nation, Indians less care less about the build quality of the shell used to manufacture the automobile or the number of airbags (obviously until the government made changes in April 2020), all we Indians care about is 20+ average on petrol, 22+ on diesel and then cheaper costs of maintenance (service, oil change etc). Ford and Chevy were robust cars, expensive to maintain but were extremely safe and had great build quality in comparison to tin cars manufactured by an Indian-Japanese collaboration.
    Thankfully, both major Indian brands TATA and Mahindra are making solid cars with somewhat good average as well and thus, their prospects are good, otherwise Indians have never bothered to be considerate about features like built quality if there ineffective unsafe Tin box is giving them 20+ mileage.

    I bought a Chevy sail back in 2013-14. Although the price of car was really good but it had major reliability issues. It broke down every other day.

    Unreliable :- American car brands
    In India :- Suzuki with the worst built is one of the most selling brand in India

    American cars require Texan standard highways to glide . India will never have such roads considering indian psychology to build cities on brand new roads and make it there own property . American vehicles are huge for nothing and very expensive to maintain . Japanese auto are best for Asia Africa market

    American Brands are reliable as hell! my first car was a chevrolet spark and my current car is a Chevrolet Sail Sedan.
    Americans design tough cars and their build quality is amazing!
    Unlike Japanese, who provide good technology but are basically cost-cut cars
    and wdym Ford is not popular in Europe? They are popular as hell there!!!

    American cars are very reliable but only in the US , they tend to downgrade the quality while selling the same model in some developing countries at lower costs.

      false for modern ones, I mean American vehicles are loaded with tech but those systems are designed to be obsolete after warranty expires. For me, vehicles with less ultra modern tech feels more long-lasting
