They have been training lately at yg facilities like ygx dance academy by yg entertainment. Yg does not promote them but they do use yg facilities for practices. Their agency in japan is pretty big but i don’t know why they been going to korea to use ygx and 1 million dance studio to practice. Its like they are in korea more than in japan
They probably do start off training in Japan. But when the debut day comes, there might be some special considerations made to train or practice under local Korean choreographers who one way or another aren't available to travel to Japan. Not saying Japanese dance trainers are inferior to Korean trainers, but people in a lot of Asian countries from what I'm aware treat South Korea as a place of pilgrimage when it comes to dance.

And the trend for the last decade is simply to just be relateable, the music that always been selling is usually comes from band, singer-songwriter or even utaite singer that all of their similiarities is how deep their lyrics are. Ofc there are popular performance group every then and now, like The Rampage from Exile, Keyakizaka46 or solo performers like Daichi Miura, but there's almost no group or singer with constant popularity like BTS in kpop, or TWICE and Blackpink. Their market are just so unpredictable, that making XG popular "worldwide" is better for them to secure their career rather than just making moves in Japan, and I mean if XG can be popular internationally, than ofc japan will see them too and hopefully become one of the big names too
