Never played this, nor did I even know about it until very recently, but after watching the video, I really like the details and touches they made to this, to seperate itself from other fighting games. Truly under-rated
I first discovered this game in a pizza restaurant in Connecticut in 1993. And I fell in love with this game. Its left me with so many wonderful memories. Memories which I cherish to this day.
Janne was the best character in the game and I was able to beat Dio using her( after 3 continues). That felt good. You have to stay on the offensive at all times !
@lastninja I totally Disagree. Sure SNK started making fighting games like other arcade companies when SF2 The World Warrior exploded and changed the commerciality of video games (like how every company these days wants to make a FPS, Moba, MMO) but cheap rip offs? no way. I think SNK was on the same level as Capcom and I'm a Capcom fanboy. I liked their early fighters but it wasn't until Samurai Shodown 2 was released that I was like "This is the same level of gameplay quality as Street Fighter 2 :) Every thing there after had really incredible deep gameplay mechanics King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown etc... Maybe before you make blanket judgements over an entire catalogue of "Clones" understand them more than "a few shots in the arcade" I'm sorry bro but I'm an SNK fanboy rooted in game knowledge and nostalgia and it's annoying when someone stereotypes everything based on them noticing games that look similar to a game that was the first of it's genre come the 1990s Peace...
Janne was a heavy hitter. She was great at nailing the opponent at a distance (arguably even better than Brocken since there wasn't all those delays); not so good with infighting or combos. Plus she's a charge character, meaning she had to pick her shots carefully. This is a great video which shows how it's done, never giving those bastards a chance to even score. And hey, sweeping Dio = major super incredible awesome in my book!
Well, I can't speak for cubex55, but it is all shown in great detail. Theoretically speaking, this can be done with any character just as long as you learn how to use it well enough.
Your right. This game isn't the best but back in the 90s it was an intersting alternative to Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 1. People also liked it because it showed off the illusive NEO GEO system which had near 16-bit graphics during the NES's time! This Neo-geo system was expensive! This game also showed funny and more ethnic varieties of fighters. If you want to see a bad game, google: "fighter's history" IT WAS AWEFUL.."Shaq-fu aweful!"
@kanodoom I apologize for intruding (I know you were talking to cubex55), but I think this is a good example of an announcer that speaks "Engrish". The announcer may not interpret names and countries (as) correctly due to pronunciation limitations. Speaking of this, did you know that in the Japanese version, Dragon's country was labelled as "China" instead of "South Korea"?
Man, you just showed me something I wanted to see from long ago and that was almost erased in my mind: How to finish World Heroes 2 with Jane? Thxs; and btw how did u managed to win in almost every clinch?...I got projected almost every tme
I like the World Heroes series a lot. However I personally prefer to play the death match modes because it is what it keeps it apart from other Street Fighter clones.
jajaja en la escena del africano de la mascara, a uno de los de atras se le cae el tapa rabos y el otro saca los ojos y deja de tocar el tambor, jajajajaja magnifico juego, ke memorias!!!
@cubex55 i never played world of heroes 2, there were a couple of times where it seemed you and the computer were fighting to grab each other, is that what happened?
20:31 Sounds like a win quote that would make feminists groan...but in this case, she's saying it to some silver dude whose morphing powers likely extend to his crotch.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Well, Aggressors of Dark Kombat and Street Fighter: The Movie are kinda out of the loop in the circle of really popular games. I meant more mainstream stuff. Stuff with sequels. SSB series is true, but I meant traditional fighting game. Not party style no lifebar fighting game.
farcher3, remember that the NEO GEO was released around 1990 along with the SNES and after the Megadrive and PCEngine, so it was around after the NES era. And what do you mean it had near 16 bit graphics?, it was more advanced than every "16 bit" console, although SNES had some advantages over it.
Man, the shadows in this always bugged the crap out of me. They should've just left them out as opposed to making them look like the fighters black spotlights pointed at them at all times.
I wonder why the fencers always have some French name like Jean or Rafael. This time they were probably going for "Jeanne" for a female character and ended up with "Janne", a common Finnish male name. :) They spell it differently, unlike the Finnish "yan-negh", they spell it like "Jan" [male] and the postfix "ne" is silent and might imply female gender. The moral of the day: do not name your kid this way.
I knew she was based on a real person, but both game versions dressed the same had similar moves in common, and for above mentioned reasons, had the same name. In my mind, especially back in the day they were the same character. Look at the Bruce Lee fighting game characters (Dragon, Fei Long, MK1 Liu Kang, Law) the homage is clear, but they all have different names and moves between them.
Yeah, I'm surprised that SNK didn't file a lawsuit against Data East. But then again, Data East was already dealing with a lawsuit from Capcom for ripping off Street Fighter II.
@farcher3 Well, it was not too bad, but the graphics were... meh. One fighting game I will NOT recommend to you would be Kasumi Ninja, and Ballz. Do not consider buying it. Look at them for yourself when you get a chance.

The game is still available console
I remember my parents renting a Neo Geo cabinet with version of this series for my 8th birthday..
The death match stages were awesome.
They rent you a cabinet?! Great parents:)
2:20 - The guys in the background remind me of the Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd sketch "Two wild and crazy guys"
Janne was the best character in the game and I was able to beat Dio using her( after 3 continues). That felt good. You have to stay on the offensive at all times !
Hee hee... Janne still looking for her love.
Don't worry, Janne. As Parappa would say, "Ya Gotta BELIEVE!!!"
My favorite World Heroes game....
Janne VS Insert Coin

Peace...
Waaaaahhhh?
Hm...this game brings me back.I played this alot at the corner stores when it was hot back than. ^^
Janne was a heavy hitter. She was great at nailing the opponent at a distance (arguably even better than Brocken since there wasn't all those delays); not so good with infighting or combos. Dio is a big nightmare for me
I love this game so very much. World Heroes 2 forever!!!
Well, I can't speak for cubex55, but it is all shown in great detail. Theoretically speaking, this can be done with any character just as long as you learn how to use it well enough.
It sounds like Erick is saying "pay you to hit me!"
Love the opening and the gameplay
6:41 Whoa, now that's the best theme in this game, Captain Kidd's! Oh, and Janne isn't half-bad either!
I found myself really getting into Kim Dragon's
LOL @ the guy in mudman's stage that keep pulling up his loincloth xD.
IS this the best world heroes game or the most popular? Why is it popular then the others?
Your right. This game isn't the best but back in the 90s it was an intersting alternative to Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 1. Brutal finishing move at 17:42!
Great gameplay with my favorite blonde, Janne!
TimelordR We love Janne...💓
Never as good? To me, they were just as good as those games. It was just underrated.
great fighting game, I hearts it!

thats cool jus keep doin ur thing while i watch the games i didnt no thats out there r neva played
Perfect Game. Most Impressive
i miss the world heroes series.
in fact, it's about timing. You have to press button in response to 'throw trial' in the right time to invert.
Man, you just showed me something I wanted to see from long ago and that was almost erased in my mind:

Janne reminds me of Charlotte, on of my favorite characters.
Perhaps Charlotte was a descendant of Janne? :)
@cubex55 are you fighting opponents through different timelines and thats dope that they have hulk hogan in this game
you missed two of my favorite characters, the rasputin and the mecha nazi.
jajaja en la escena del africano de la mascara, a uno de los de atras se le cae el tapa rabos y el otro saca los ojos y deja de tocar el tambor, jajajajaja magnifico juego, ke memorias!!!
Holy shit havent seen this 15 years
@cubex55 i never played world of heroes 2, there were a couple of times where it seemed you and the computer were fighting to grab each other, is that what happened?
2:47 Yes, the natural outcome of going after an unarmed man with a sword ;)
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun I meant the only game with projectile reflecting and counter grabbing. No other games really have those.
20:31 Sounds like a win quote that would make feminists groan...but in this case, she's saying it to some silver dude whose morphing powers likely extend to his crotch.
They should come out with world heroes vs street fighter
this game is pretty cool but jus wonderin did they had a world heroes 1?
Or maybe a new Capcom vs. SNK, since World Heroes is an SNK series now.
Not party style no lifebar fighting game.
beat this game all the time

@GoonyCruLLP me too, that would be a really interesting matchup, VIVE LA FRANCE!!!!!!
Man, the shadows in this always bugged the crap out of me. They should've just left them out as opposed to making them look like the fighters black spotlights pointed at them at all times.
Is that the sword of Eden ?
I wonder why the fencers always have some French name like Jean or Rafael. Snes?
Dio Pwns ... "Coooooooooo" !
Same here.
@halidefox
Epic agree.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun I didn't think there were many differences between home and arcade. Care to enlighten me?
It's funny to thin that Ryoko was in two different fighting games; World Heroes, and Fighter's History.
The Ryoko from Fighter's History was a different Ryoko. The funny thing is that both characters are based on an actual person named Ryoko Tamura.
But then again, Data East was already dealing with a lawsuit from Capcom for ripping off Street Fighter II.
...and Capcom lost. Back then I thought Capcom had a case. Looking back on it now, not so sure. There was enough differences to avoid copy write.
Yes. I'm aware that Capcom lost. But that didn't save Data East from going bankrupt a few years later. They're out of business now.
@jerrod24 Same here. Regardless if I was playing it on level 1, it was too hard for me.
Double like street fighter
What?
What's with the Daffy Duck jump in the Thailand scene, LOL?
Incidentally, you know who Janne ends up falling for? J. Carne. Seriously.
Mr. Carn is in the past now, he did not want to marry me so I'm still looking for the man who will be my husband.
Janne d'Arc You can do better.
that T-1000 boss was really tricky
They should make Capcom Vs Neo Geo fighters - Hanzo Vs Ryu
I wonder why this game was too easy for Janne. I have the game on my computer and it is really challenging.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun It's still kinda the only game with the last two.
Donde puedo descargar este juego

@farcher3 Well, it was not too bad, but the graphics were... meh. One fighting game I will NOT recommend to you would be Kasumi Ninja, and Ballz. Do not consider buying it. Look at them for yourself when you get a chance.
So, I wonder.. If Silver Surfer & the Guyver had a gay love child, would it look like Dio..?
PeteTheGrouch I'd believe it.
No...it really isn't.
13:53
El juego está en nivel 1 de principiantes ¡¡¡¡¡ jajaja
I lol'd so hard at C. Kidd. Totally reminds me of Guile.
