HAND TOOLS + FIRE = STUMP REMOVAL FUN!

  • #stumpremoval #stump #handtoolonly Everyone knows fire is cool, so why not use it to burn out a stump! Well for one thing it could cause root fires that spread out underground but in the this case, a mimosa stump, the roots were still pretty much alive and throwing up new shoots. Watch as we fell the tree then, three years later, remove the stump the fun way.

I am a high school teacher. When I see a child spending this kind of moment with a caring respectable parent, I know she will be a wonderful, responsible adult. She is learning, playing, socializing, and getting continuous reinforcement. I know it is your child, but Thank you. This is the best therapy session for a child. Made my day

She should be working with her mom learning how to be a woman so she doesn't grow up to be some pain in the ass who thinks she can do what the boys do. Girls never used to work with the men, now everyone acts like its traditional.

My father was a lifelong builder and farmer and I followed him around the farm, asking questions out of curiosity and eagerness to learn. He was like that dad and taught me a lot of valuable skills and autonomous thinking over the course of his life. The only girl with multiple brothers. Thanks to my dad’s humble, patient nature, as a female, I’ve broke ground and removed by hand with manual tools tree roots, large chunks of buried concrete, working 16 hour days for weeks as long as there was a ray of light, clearing ground to perfection. It was my dad that instilled the ability and tenacity in me to visualize results and persevere through projects.

I'm not going to mention any names or anything but I have a family member who used to work for Norfolk Southern Railroad. The Railroad used to stock and I'm sure they still do stock Dynamite in order to blow rocks loose when digging out tunnels or raising the height clearance of a tunnel. So this family member had free access to it. Getting rid of stumps with Dynamite was no problemo no and it was always good entertainment for a bunch of people drinking beer. But one time a friend called and said he was building a pond and that they ran into a big rock while digging it out. This family member said "hey no problem I will bring it over and we'll just blow that rock out of the way." so all of us made about an eighth of a mile clearance between ourselves and the Blowing Rock and we hid behind his van. None of us were injured but a huge Boulder Came Crashing Down On Top of the van and crush it. Needless to say, that was my last attendance to rock blowing. Just saying.

Just an observation I know you take every precaution when working with kids around I just noticed at 2:10 she left her pick spike sticking straight up looks like you must have seen it cause when it was shown again it was laid over it makes it more fun working with your kids around and you can never be to careful great job enjoyed the vid.

For anyone looking to burn out a stump there is some math involved on why surface burning takes so much fuel but it all boils down to the moisture in the wood stealing the thermal energy in the conversion to steam. wet wood acts as in insulator keeping the heat within 1-2 inches as cooking off process happens and even getting the fire very hot with forced air will only speed it up so much as it is the transfer rate into the wood and not how fast to boil water. A slow smoldering fire protected from the rains uses a lot less fuel then a huge bonfire and the fun one is the stump itself has the BTU's to do the full process if you can drill a burn shaft and air shafts then just start a small fire and sit back and wait.

That little girl is a very smart and hard working person. And you are the apple of her eye. And great video also. You burned it out the best of anyone else because you dug it out further down which allows the air and 🔥 to burn more of it out and less dirt let's the wood heat up and burn down lower

Greetings from Australia. I have seen and heard about some horrific accidents with winch cables and straps and I shuddered every time your little girl walked close to it. Way safer to use chain instead of strap and also hang a heavy blanket or chain on the wire to take the energy out of recoil should it break.

Looks like a lot of fun. I've got a couple of stumps in my back yard that need removing. Want to come here and take out mine?
A medium sized tree fell over in a storm before I moved here. All the previous owners did was cut it off at the stump. It's already half way out of the ground. It is kind of close to the property line about 2 feet from a chain link fence. I don't know if I can burn it out without setting other vegetation on fire.
