They gave her the hardest starting schedule to male her look bad so they would have am excuse to leave her off team USA. Leaving Clark off whether for marketing or her skill level was a horrendous decision. She would have team USA winning by 20 plus every game

As much as I love CC, I don’t think she improves this team if they just replace one player with her. One of CC’s best assets is she can run pretty much nonstop, but nobody on the current team would be able to keep up with her. Then, once in the half court offense, the best play with her running the offense is a pick and roll, but nobody on the current Team USA really does that. Griner is a post up player. Wilson is more of a pick and pop or pick and fade type player. I do love CC, but I just don’t think she’d improve the team with its current roster + her. Btw, one area that Team USA has really struggled so far is perimeter defense. They are just giving up looks, but WIDE OPEN looks. CC isn’t exactly known for defense and while her on ball defense is improving slightly, her best defense is in a help defense role, picking off errant passes and getting the occasional weakside block

Look . You're not an X's and O's guy, I get that. Belgium played a flawless game with some pocket passes that will live on in Olympic history. Transition defense in high post switching was flawless. They don't have the wings to challenge USA in any matchup but they made up for that in pure heart.They got over almost every rotation that probably surprised Stewart as the drop back. Belgium totally exceeded their pay grade with one of the smartest defensive rotations in Olympic history, Much respect!

The hubris of the Selection Committee almost caught up with the U.S. team today. In a game where they shot 16.7% (2 of 12) from 3, and desperately needed crisp passing and dribble penetration from their point guard, they had a 42 year-old one-time great and a still-not-back-from-injury great sitting on the bench instead of the two people that should have been on the team.
Reeve wanted her legacy olympic team for a final reprise for a gold medal. She did that to keep her dream alive, to the exclusion of younger players like CC and Reese to name a very few. She really needed younger players. Most of the players are much older than in their younger days. Many of these ladies are playing with injuries causing slower movements and lackluster plays. The bottom line is reve was told by fans, media and probably advised on others in the team committee tochange the lineup. I primarily blame Reeve. Her strong animosity against CC, put her in a childish light. SHe got what she deserved. Reeve did do CC a favor. But keeping her off the team, CC got some much needed rest.
Gray, DT and Plum were just....so meh today. Good thing the US has so many bigs. Stewy and AJ did what they do, but their PG/SG game was very ineffective. Jeesh. DT being on the team is just a joke. I know she can still play but her defense today was horrible. She was torched left and right.

25,044 spectators and nearly everybody was there for a chance of the Belgians beating this unrelatable US "team". The Belgian women showed so much spirit - with their compatriots backing them up loudly. That part was really fun to watch. And the game showed that the US team is far from unbeatable.
As a male that played just about every team sport the social hierarchy was there it just was not given the high value that females seem to need to play a team sport. With CC it is an attempt by them to put her greatness aside to position her in the social hierarchy at the bottom and know your place position.

Once at the Olympics, the “politics/metrics” of how any USA team was chosen disappears in my mind as I focus all of my thoughts on supporting our Olympians to win the GOLD. Would I have liked to see Caitlin Clark on TEAM USA this year at the 2024 Paris Olympics? Of course!!! I am a big fan of CC. However, it is time to move on and support our TEAM USA who is there. Regarding Belgium & France, both teams play very similar styles of offense in how they approach penetration and passing. The difference between the two philosophies is that when Belgium initiates penetration it is done so that they can kick it back out to the perimeter for a 3-point shot. France, on the other hand, will use penetration to establish inside-out action for a higher percentage shot in the paint. Both teams finish well inside. Although Belgium plays better defense, don’t take France for granted as they are going to be hard competition as well. Something for Team USA to consider and prepare for.

Look . You're not an X's and O's guy, I get that. Belgium played a flawless game with some pocket passes that will live on in Olympic history. Transition defense in high post switching was flawless. They don't have the wings to challenge USA in any matchup but they made up for that in pure heart.They got over almost every rotation that probably surprised Stewart as the drop back. Belgium totally exceeded their pay grade with one of the smartest defensive rotations in Olympic history, Much respect!
100% Correct. Belgium played with big heart. Their pick game is nice, where they’d set the back pick, penetrate and then throw the ball back out to the person the set the back pick for a wide open 3 and the USA players fell for it every time when all they had to do was switch on the pick.

The hubris of the Selection Committee almost caught up with the U.S. team today. In a game where they shot 16.7% (2 of 12) from 3, and desperately needed crisp passing and dribble penetration from their point guard, they had a 42 year-old one-time great and a still-not-back-from-injury great sitting on the bench instead of the two people that should have been on the team.
They selected the team so early and concocted other fake “neutral” criteria- in order to exclude CC.
Reeve wanted her legacy olympic team for a final reprise for a gold medal. She did that to keep her dream alive, to the exclusion of younger players like CC and Reese to name a very few. She really needed younger players. Most of the players are much older than in their younger days. Many of these ladies are playing with injuries causing slower movements and lackluster plays. The bottom line is reve was told by fans, media and probably advised on others in the team committee tochange the lineup. I primarily blame Reeve. Her strong animosity against CC, put her in a childish light. SHe got what she deserved. Reeve did do CC a favor. But keeping her off the team, CC got some much needed rest.
Gray, DT and Plum were just....so meh today. Good thing the US has so many bigs. Stewy and AJ did what they do, but their PG/SG game was very ineffective. Jeesh. DT being on the team is just a joke. I know she can still play but her defense today was horrible. She was torched left and right.

Team USA may win the gold, but if they do and head-to-head competition counts, the best team in the world is the WNBA All-Star team, who torched the Olympic team in head-to-head competition. You can argue the topic on merit (obviously, players like Wilson and Stewart belong on any best-of-the-WNBA team), but you can't argue with the score from that game.

25,044 spectators and nearly everybody was there for a chance of the Belgians beating this unrelatable US "team". The Belgian women showed so much spirit - with their compatriots backing them up loudly. That part was really fun to watch. And the game showed that the US team is far from unbeatable.

As a male that played just about every team sport the social hierarchy was there it just was not given the high value that females seem to need to play a team sport. With CC it is an attempt by them to put her greatness aside to position her in the social hierarchy at the bottom and know your place position.

USA sent their political team for a sporting event. Everybody gets a participation trophy. We've lost the desire to dominate. And it shows throughout every part of our society. I cheer for every member and every team that USA sends to the Olympics. Once at the Olympics, the “politics/metrics” of how any USA team was chosen disappears in my mind as I focus all of my thoughts on supporting our Olympians to win the GOLD. Would I have liked to see Caitlin Clark on TEAM USA this year at the 2024 Paris Olympics? Of course!!! I am a big fan of CC. However, it is time to move on and support our TEAM USA who is there. Regarding Belgium & France, both teams play very similar styles of offense in how they approach penetration and passing. The difference between the two philosophies is that when Belgium initiates penetration it is done so that they can kick it back out to the perimeter for a 3-point shot. France, on the other hand, will use penetration to establish inside-out action for a higher percentage shot in the paint. Both teams finish well inside. Although Belgium plays better defense, don’t take France for granted as they are going to be hard competition as well. Something for Team USA to consider and prepare for.
