    Using red shampoo will fade blue/ green permanently?
    And what products can I use after bleaching my hair in order to repair my hair?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the shampoo will not take care of the problem permanently. I would go see a professional if you want to permanently change it from direct dye. You are more than welcome to share this video with your stylist for inspiration. However, if you are asking for advice as a consumer, I will ask you to see a professional first. I do not recommend this for "box color" or at home hair color.
      I would recommend Kenra Professional Revive system after bleaching your hair and maybe some Olaplex treatments ;)

  • @myoldasskitchen2467
    @myoldasskitchen2467 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This DOES work! My hair was bleached then had a years worth of the darker blue same color as her swatch! The beauty supply was out of kenra 5C ( of course they are out of everything anymore!) So I got wella shinefinity 05/43 ..BTW LOVE this stuff! Zero damage! It has light brown red/gold base = orange. It covered the blue beautifully! I just applied all over on dry hair processed 30 minutes. I did a balayage all over using bleach and olaplex. I got a nice caramel color no toning needed I just used a purple shampoo. I'm shocked I didn't have to spend days to get the blue out first!
    Note! Everything is going to depend on whether or not you have an orange base! So make sure its demi/semi NOT permanent and it has a base thats the opposite on the color wheel

    I'm really stuck right now because there is NO WAY I am dying my hair brown. It took me two yeas to get my hair to the blonde it is today and I just tried a bleach treatment to get the blue out and now its really faint and pastel. I had also done 3 baking soda with shampoo treatments before that. I really don't know what to do at this point because I want to stay blonde but don't want the blue at the end of my hair anymore.

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for your comment. First and foremost, go see a professional stylist and devise a hair plan. It's really tough to give a proper consultation without seeing the hair in person. From what it sounds like, you maybe able to apply a pastel copper over the pastel blue. This would hopefully neutralize it, but again, I cannot see your hair so it's hard to say. Once the hair is "browned out" you could probably do a bleach wash only if the hair is in good condition. I hope this helps!

    Does the browning out method need to be done with a demi permanent hair dye? Or will it still work with semi permanent dye? I know that a demi permanent makes the hair darker but I only use products that are animal cruelty free and the only hair dye that I can use is a cruelty free SEMI one.

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Megan Elliott Thank you for your comment. If you want to go back to purple/violet, you should be able to apply the violet shade right over the green. One of my favorite color combos is mixing teal with violet to make a smoky plum. (Blue violet). Depending on the darkness of the green you have, you may need to go in and lighten again just to get a clean, lighter pallet to work with. Then apply your violet shade. Depending on the brand you use (I can speak for Kenra) violet and green work really well together. The example in the video is when you want to remove blue or green and leave with a natural shade. Not dye it a fun color again. Hope this helps!

    • @megan2956
      @megan2956 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omg I can't believe you actually got back to me! Thank you so much!
      After washing it several times with bi-carb soda and anti dandruff shampoo it's faded to a very light emerald/jade/almost minty colour.
      I'm assuming that if i were to fade it more and apply a blue base purple it should turn out okay?
      I just prefer red based purples as they tend to fade a lot nicer! :)

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Megan Elliott anytime! I think if your hair is a mint shade (sounds light) and you want something favoring a violet red, I would use violet and magenta. Applying that over the light green should be ok without further compromising the hair. If you apply blue/violet it will favor the blue that you don't want.

    so basically put a demi permanent color on top of the blue (which opp would be orange?) and then bleach it to get it to the lightness you want for next color? chlorine faded certain parts of my hair with a green tinge tho.. also! when i first dyed it, it wasnt lightened or maybe toned enough because one area of my tips was more green tinge

    I dyed my hair dark blue with a wash out semi-permanente color about 2 months ago and wanted to go back to a natural color. Two days ago I went to the salon and had two bleachbaths wich left my hair bright green. We then dyed my hair with a 3 on the roots and a 5 on the lengts with lots of red in it and after that you could still see the green in the lengths. So we did another dye with pure red on the lengths and it was so nice like a burgundy color. I did wash it for the first time today and I already see a green hue coming trough. I hate it I just want to get rid of the green. Any tips? Im not a hairdresser so I dont now if explained everything that well. Also my English is not that good Im sorry.

      Sanne Koot it’s honestly too difficult for me to give you proper advice without seeing your hair in person. I personally would have followed the steps in the video first but without bleaching your hair. Brown out and then color over it with a final shade. Maybe use this video as a source for your stylist. Good luck with your hair journey 💜

    • @nildaalicea6511
      @nildaalicea6511 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sanne Koot I’m a cosmetologist and you don’t have to lighten your hair all you have to do is look at the color wheel red-orange counteracts the blue green so I would get color brilliance brights in Blood orange and put a little of that color in conditioner mix it and put it all over like basically using it as a toner ..

    • @lisalida6233

      @@nildaalicea6511 thx! Pretty much my problem too

    • @Jamiesaurus_Art
      @Jamiesaurus_Art ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had this problem in the past and the only thing that helped me officially get the pigment out for good was high lift color, which cosmetologists will definitely not recommend for to the ammonia, but loreal high lift blonde (shade 12 b/v) has gotten my hair stark white from blue green with some dryness but no more than bleach baths would do. It didn't snap off or turn to spaghetti, I tried it years ago and have used that same trick several times since. So a test stand of you ever want to try this method, and know this is just to remove the blue and green, you'll still want something to due it after to re-color the hair, even if it's just a toner, the high lift will leave you a little brassy otherwise.

    Thank you so much for this video! First one who actually makes sense and from a professional 😭. I jst got confused with the demis, you said you used Copper for Blue and Red for Tilt but in the instagram video you paired and seemed to apply them the other way around: Red on Blue and Copper on Tilt, I loved the blue “neutralized” as it was for my new colour but I’m at a green/tilt right now. By the explanation I’ll try the red demi but my question is: can I keep my hair just with the demi, without lightning it? I imagine I will have to reapply from time to time? Again tysm and congrats on that beautiful life you are carrying inside your belly 😍

      Yes you always use the color opposite of the color wheel. I know I made a mistake on one of the images but you get the idea. Sorry for the confusion.
      So can you keep it with Demi? Yes, so long as you want to stay dark. I would still Brown our first and then do a second application of brown over the browned out color.

    soooo.. my hair is really splotchy.. my roots are silver and ca 6cm long, the middle part is like a yellowish green crown around my head and the ends are kinda silverish purple with light blue highlights but its all super faded and pastel looking.. Since I had verry faded purple hair I told the hairdresser retouching my roots that she should avoid the purple as much as possible or it will turn green... buuut she did anyways and now my hair is messed up. I thought I could fix it. i toned my yellow roots and then applied Maria Nila Color refresh in Black mixed with a hair mask to dye my hair a dark silver all over... the roots are perfect andthe ends are fine with me also but the yellowish green shines through. what would you suggest? I tried toning with a diluted red color from directions but that makes the green just very muddy and kinda burgundy looking

      justwantaplaylist1 sorry for the super late reply. I was busy being pregnant and having a baby! I’m sure your hair has been fixed by now, but I wanted to reply for future reference. If the hair is yellow/green I would recommend using a violet/red toner to correct it.
      And yes, adding red over green will make it muddy because that’s what it’s supposed to do. Brown it out. Therefore if you don’t want to lighten again then toning with the violet/red would be a great option.

    A month ago, I dyed my hair with a semi permanent black hair dye that had blue undertones. My natural hair color is a medium golden brown. In the sunlight, it has a dark green tint and my roots are coming in. It's not like a lime or neon green. Like a dark dark black forest green. I'm trying to go back to my natural hair color or something close to it. Can I just go over it with a neutral medium brown or do I need to dye it a medium reddish brown? I'm using clarifying shampoo and dish soap to fade it out. I also have red shampoo I had left over when my hair used to be red. Will that help?

    My hair is bright green and teal-ish in the ends right now, I've actually just dyed it this color two days ago but I really don't like it.. I used Arctic Fox semi permanent in Poseidon and Phantom Green. Also added some Crazy Color Natural Black (brown undertone). I'm going to my hairdressers in a month to see what we can do. Should I just shampoo (anti-dandruff?) it more often now and wash with warm water to have it fade as much as I can until then?
    My hair underneath is an almost-white bleached blond. I have no idea if it's going to fade to green or blue but should I try to bleach it out next month to see if I can go blond again (a darker, ash-blond would be fine with me) or should I just try to use complimentary colors to make it a brown? Both are fine with me, but I just don't want to go through the trouble of bleaching if it's not worth it..

    Hey there😄 I recently dyed my hair back to its natural color (dark brown) and at first it turned dark brown but after a while it began to fade to a brown with a murky green undertone. It wasn't noticeable from pictures but up close in day light/artificial light you could tell. About 2 days ago I decided to add the same color to "get rid" of the green. Do you believe this is right??? Or do I have to add a reddish shade to balance it out. I asked my mom about it and she said that another hit of the same color would do but I think I should add a bit of red. Any opinion??? Thank you 😊 (the dye I used was garnier nutrisse permanent hair color #30 darkest brown).

      You can always try a baby pink shampoo to neutralize. Just think of the opposite color of what you have. If it's baby blue, you need light orange, if it's light teal, you need light pink. You could also try coloring over it with a demi permanent shade slightly darker than what you have if you dont want to bleach. Hope this helps.

    I tried mixing arctic fox’s Transylvania (blue/black) and Sterling and instead of being a dark grey, it turned to a grey denim looking color. I have purple toner, which I don’t think will take out the blue tone. I also have arctic fox’s orange dye and yellow dye. If I mix a little orange with conditioner, would it neutralize the blue and leave me with a grey tone, or would it turn brown? I was really upset when it came out blue and I don’t want to go out an buy more dye just yet. Would this work? Heeeeelp! *I have to have a natural color for work so grey was okay, blue denim grey color is not*

      I dont think that would work as the dark blue is a really strong colour and the main base colour, it would work if it was very faded to pale blue. I hope you managed to get it sorted out! I'm currently going through the slow process of removing arctic fox denim colour too so i feel your pain lol

    Hi! Thank you so much for the insight video! I tried your method and it worked to get the green out, which I’m really happy about! :D I do have a question though. I used a red dye (Demi permanent) over teal color and it came out reddish brown/black However, one small selection of the hair (on the right side of the head) came out looking very black with a tint of green/blue undertones peaking through.
    Once the red dye fades, will it go back to green/teal or will the hair fade to a brighter brown? Also, will that green undertone peaking through fade with shampoo washes? Or do I need a specific shampoo for that? My goal is to eventually dye the hair back to a medium brown, but with the unevenness of the hair (and the fact I bleached the hair prior to the teal/green color) I know I should wait a while before applying anymore dyes and especially bleach. I want to stay away from bleach and fix the green undertones on that selection of the hair. I would really appreciate some advice! I could handle the reddish brown/black right now but the unevenness of color on the right side of the hair is driving me nuts!

      justpassingby_ hi! This method works best if you are going to put Lightener over the brown out formula. However, in your case, I would brown out first (red dye), shampoo/dry, and then apply your final brown shade right over it. I would use Demi formula in all scenarios. Hope this helps!

    Hi!I have really dark midnight blue hair with a dark green-teal tint,how can I go back to a golden blonde shade?Because I want to dye my hair rose gold.Do I have to first dye my hair a darker shade of copper and then bleach it?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In order to do all that, you must first understand that it may take a few sessions to get you there. But yes, you will need to color the hair with a red/copper shade in demi permanent at the level of blue/copper you are working with. Then go in with lightener. If you think your hair cannot handle that, then devise a plan B. As always, I will strongly recommend you see a professional color correction specialist to take a look at your hair.

You are more than welcome to share this video with your stylist for inspiration. However, if you are asking for advice as a consumer, I will ask you to see a professional first. I do not recommend this for "box color" or at home hair color.

Show more of the hair going through each step, as well as the befores and afters of each one rather than just filming yourself talking because it was really hard to actually pay attention to anything in the video.

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend something green based for any red formula that you 100% want to remove or brown out from the hair. If the hair is really pastel, then try a very pigmented ash to cancel it out. It is really difficult to give a strong suggestion without seeing the hair in person. I would recommend seeing a professional stylist to assess your hair needs.

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alicia Urbina First and foremost, go see a professional stylist and devise a hair plan. It's really tough to give a proper consultation without seeing the hair in person. There is no right answer when trying to remove blue and teal let alone black. That's the toughest color to remove to turn blonde. In general, you will need to use lightener (probably several times in different services), treatments, and toning to achieve a healthy shade of blonde.

So i put over a light golden brown and it turned muddy green, i then used a deep red and my roots went red but ends still stayed muddy green, they didnt really change. What colour should i use to get my hair red/brown if the previous rred i used didnt work?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think where you went wrong is applying the brown first. Sounds like to me it's not going to take any more color if red is not working. I would try a test strand using lightener then apply the red. Seek out a professional to look at your hair. This sounds like color correction at this point. Good Luck. - M

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sophie Rybalov Thank you for your comment. Yes. The left was copper over blue and the right was red over teal. Like I mentioned in the video, I think I could have totally added in some copper to the teal as well since teal is a combo of blue and green. But nonetheless, the teal was still easy to remove after browning out the color. For a more sped up version of this, you can view it on my Instagram

      thanks for the response. i have like an in between blue/green right now and wanted to use the joico color eraser to remove the color. but now i am considering browning it out? however, at the end of all this i would be doing a highlift of 9NA with 40 vol (which i was originally going to do but then i dyed my hair blue to support a friend- urg).... so that would go on my virgin hair and on the browned out hair, or my virgin hair and the color removed hair, if that makes sense... do you have any recommendations on which you would do if this was you? either brown out or color remove before the high lift?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sophie Rybalov I would remove your blue green first, then after you apply your Lightener to the browned out hair, you can use your highlift on the virgin hair and a demi similar to the light reflection of the highlift on the ends. That way you are not over compromising the hair that was blue with more ammonia. Good luck !

    • @sophierybalov388

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sophie Rybalov depends on how light it is. If it's still pretty saturated I would brown it out. If it's pretty light, I would try a Lightener right over it. It's too difficult to say over the net what would be the best choice. I always recommend seeing a professional in person to get a proper consultation.
