This video contains things I learned when I was NINE years old (That was 1964!) when somehow I was able to talk my Dad into allowing me to play with his tape recorder. I found this video to be completely fascinating!

Excellent lecture as it abstracted some complex topics such that the non technical can understand.
    Some respectfully added embellishments-
-Edison's early commercial phonographs were completely acoustic devices without any electrical circuitry
-A close examination of Lee De Forest shows that while he did indeed provided the Audion, he never understood how it functioned. This was proven when he attempted to sue Edwin Armstrong for patent violation. De Forest was known to routinely visit the shops of unsuspecting fellow inventors and assume their ideas as his own.
-While JBL was there at the beginning and arguably proved to be persistently influential in quality sneaker design, the first practical moving-coil (dynamic) loudspeakers were made by Peter L. Jensen and Edwin Pridham in 1915 in Napa, California.

H.C. Ørsted discovered electro magnetism. Without this, no microphones, speakers ect. 😉
