- RF Orchids is one of the oldest and most historical company in the Redlands Florida. Owner Robert Fuchs opened its doors more than 50 years ago. He comes from a family of generational botanist including himself. Many crosses they have in their establishment are created by them. I’ve seen and bought orchids in many other nurseries that are their own “Fuchs” cross. This place is not just a nursery, it’s a botanical park with many exotic plant and thousands of orchids around the entire place. Some have been established for many decades on the trees. It really is quite impressive to walk under a canopy of dozens and dozens of Cattleyas. This episode does mainly focus on the inside areas and orchids for sale. I will be doing another episode showing the surroundings and their private backyard and their own mini ecosystem with ponds, fish, more orchids, and their resident a locator. This place is truly a paradise. Enjoy this episode!

Fun video editing with the dramatic music. That purple freckled Vanda at the 20:05 mark was perfection. That’s what I envision my first Vanda to be when I have a better set up and buy one.

R F orchids absolutely beautifulmplace , definetly high end and exquiste plants ,pots , and decor items and of course not a cheap place to go shopping, better bring your charge cards and wallets, but a nice experience for finding a unique item or plant, 5 stars
Most orchid nurseries that are high end will be expensive. They do spend allot to keep that place running. Plus you get to enjoy a day at a great little botanical park. I guess it’s the same as buying at a boutique store instead of big box stores.
OMG! I bought Gram. Scriptum Var Citrinum @ Home Depot in CA last weekend for $38.98, I'm so happy I did. Had no idea it's so pricey. Thank you Nelson for taking us along. 😊😍

Bob Fuchs is my favorite orchid grower. His nursery, RF Orchids, is awesome. He was taking groups orchid hunting in jungles all over the world as far back as the 70's. Thanks for the nursery tours in the Mecca of orchids, Redlands area of south Dade County. Bob named a Vanda after my Mom in 1984. Beautiful gigantic flowers. Prize of my collection.
They are truly amazing. I’m ready Robert’s book right now and his family goes way back in botany. They were introducing orchid in Homestead since the 1930’s. This are houses some of the most incredible orchid houses. That’s so awesome your mom has a Vanda named after her. 💚

What an absolute tranquil walk through RF Orchids. You really did get lucky as it wasn't raining. My vandas from RF Orchids are doing well. I took a good look into my vandachostylis pinky "Plum Delicious' to discover a new shoot. I can hardly wait to enjoy thee grape/fruit loop fragrance again. Always have to have a second look at the video when it’s rf. Nelson you need to set up an appointment with the owner so that you can see the entire garden. It’s breathtaking. There’s even a pet alligator there.

I know. I’ve been to their garden. That was the purpose of going on Wednesday but unfortunately Michael and Robert were not there. Appointments are very difficult to set so we play by ear.

Hi Glovana. Recently I bought a Vanda from the Orchid Nursery - and so far, it has given me 2 keikis!! Still waiting for a spike though. My Phalaenopsis gave me a beautiful bloom spike (white), and it lasted from April till June. I have lots of Dendrobium keikis (2 types), and they just keep on giving!! My Vanda Miss Joaquim finally bloomed - 7 flowers. I was forced to create a mini "Orchid Corner" around my porch and alongside my bedroom window. Now I have room for more!! We must arrange a visit one of these days.

RF orchids is an incredibly gorgeous place. They do have beautiful orchids. Very hot there but gorgeous and in just about every tree is covered with orchids. The mount is absolutely gorgeous. Is that an oncidium that you mounted. As always awesome video, have a great week. Thank you.

I tell you that place is impecable. I’ve noticed in my experience of visiting nurseries, orchid nurseries that have the most popularity and success seem to be all the well thought out, immaculate settings. People are very much attracted to a visual stimulation when they see nature displayed so well and pristine.
I want to ask Les what plant does he think is having worthwhile where there will not be so many of them in the future less his own site he is very knowledgeable about orchids I loved his turtles I have turtles too I enjoy your show immensely and I did get the orchid the jail alien orchid I don't know when it will bloom it was not as big as I thought it was going to be maybe you can fill me in some information about it can you include the care and what they need when you show the orchids there's very little good information out there if I ever make it to Florida I'm going to look you up but I don't think I will be there stay safe and thank you

On this latest video I found an orchid that was so amazing I had to stop your video (momentarily) to see if I could order it on the spot...and they still had it! I didn’t take anything🙁 But I’m saving it all for October big show at the Fruit and Spice park. I’m not familiar with Palmer. Never been there so I don’t know what they have. But I’m loving on Encyclias. They bloom multiple spikes and lots of flowers. And in many cases they have very strong fragrance.
RF is such a 'Class Act' ! (IF) I were granted a "Make-A-Wish" it would to visit RF (with a $500 gift certificate) hint, hint.

The shallow pots you mention at 12:45 (you say RF has them made inTaiwan), Palmer Orchids over here in Bradenton, FL has several pallets of them for sale. I agree, they’re great.
Actually I believe they were manufactured in Thailand. There are many vendors and nurseries that sell hole pots for orchids. But the ones at RF according to Michael the owner, he told me he designed them together with another orchid collector and had them done overseas and shopped make to the states.

That Bulbophylum phalaenopsis doesn't have mature leaves yet. They will get double the size. As for it's flowers, I would NOT recommend it! The stench of rotting meat is horrible and travels a very long distance, even outside. When the "perfume" starts spreading, it can travel for over 60 to 80 feet easily. Good luck enduring that over a longer time. Literally gave my huge plant away because I could not stand it anymore + the flies it attracted. Yikes!!!
No! I would have kept it! That’s a collectors plant. I have a little over an acre of land. I would hang it in the opposite end of the house. Lol! I can’t imagine that smell in small space. It’s such a big orchid. I see how it can radiate its stench for a long distance.
@@naturenel Here in Europe, they are quite common and nurseries drop their immense plants for $ 100 to150,just to get rid of them. no one really wants them here anymore because of the stench the flowers produce. When they bloom in their greenhouses, its practically unbearable to stay inside for a longer time. I love it but don't like it at the same time. Happy growing.
