As a true blue fan for 20+ years, I've seen these guys go through a hell of a lot. Brian nearly died when he was 5 from a congenital heart condition, yet by some divine will, survived his ordeal and later on, joined the BSB. There, knowing he still had to have surgery to fix his condition, was pushed by execs and directors to keep preforming, like clockwork, until his fiance, now wife, forced him to finally slow down and get the surgery, a surgery he had a 25% chance of not waking up from. If that weren't enough, he was also misdiagnosed as having vocal strain from a bout of swine flu, and now deals with the proper diagnosis of muscle tension dysphonia in his vocal cords. It frustrates him to no end to be unable to do what he wants while singing these days and live up to the voice he was known for in his youth. Despite all he's been through, and all he struggles with he's always smiling, always the first to crack a silly joke and always on stage eager to preform and please his fans, even if he sounds a little different these days. AJ went through hell and back several times with a severe addiction to alcohol and other drugs. It got especially bad when his beloved grandmother, whom he was very close to, died. He had always felt like an oddball his whole life, yet always wanted to do his own thing. It's no wonder that years of bullying, teasing, and now the death of his grandmother had driven him to the bottle. It got so bad that he even wanted to quit the band. However, the other guys, lead by Kevin, literally knocked his door down to get to him and give him the dose of reality and encouragement he needed to finally get help and go to rehab. He still struggles each and every day with staying sober, but has the loving support of not only the guys, but his wife, his two beautiful daughters. Addiction is something that will always be a part of him, as it is with anyone who has addictions, and now, more than ever does he have a plethora of good reasons to keep going, to stay sober and to grin each day, for it's a blessing for him to be here at all. Kevin, being the oldest, didn't make him immune to his struggles. He lost his father to colon cancer when he was barely out of his teens and for the longest time, was lost, had a void in his heart. Being the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and is known to be extremely emotional, this was especially hard on him. He tried to fill it with managers who were absolute sleaze bags and even though he felt the most betrayed by Lou Pearlman's deceit and treachery, he managed to pick himself up, and be the father figure he was looking for. However, being an actual father was no easy walk in the park for him either, as he and his wife Kristen struggled to even have kids. But, they now have two beautiful boys that Kevin can be a father to, like his father was to him. Nick, being only 11-12 years old when he first joined the group, had been a bit overwhelmed by the sudden thrust into the spotlight, and looked toward's band mate Brian for comfort and as a father figure (Nick's parents had divorced and his father, Bob, was mostly absent at this time in his life). They used to be practically inseparable, known as Frick and Frack. When Brian started seeing his now wife Leighanne, Nick felt like he was being pushed away, like he was a third wheel in the equation and that Leighanne was taking his place. For a long while, he felt lost, turned to drinking and drugs and questionable girlfriends to try and fill the void. During this time, his biological family began to fall apart. His sister died from a drug overdose, his kid brother Aaron was on death's doorstep with ailments of his own, and his mother was struggling with mental illness and his father's death as well. If it weren't for his band mates, his BSB family, and a diagnosis of Cardio Myopathy, he might not be with us today, smiling and happy with a wife and son to boot. Howie might be the one who seemingly got the better end of the deal when it came to game of life, but he's not without his own struggles. During a world tour, he found out his sister, who was diagnosed with Lupus, had passed away, quite suddenly in fact, and yet, despite being booked for concerts the next few months, managed to have his people work around the funeral so he could attend. He's always there to listen to the other guys, always there with the Latin vibes to spice things up, and though he may look the most reserved when it comes to craziness, can be as wild as any of the others if he wants to. He's also the band's dose of reality and sweetness. So, yeah, I have mad respect for these guys. Absolute mad respect. Each and every day I see them together as a band, still preforming, still smiling, I'm beyond thankful that the fates allowed them to be so. They are absolute legends and absolutely nothing short of heroes in my book. True warriors all of them.
artchic528 don’t blame brian for what nick went through he started always being around howie.brian went through so much also.yes he felt alone but he went to howie
The fans and 90s kids all grown up missing a bit of home. Everyone knows the 90s was the last chance we had it good 💪 (thank you for the likes and comments! My 90s fam 🙋♂️)
And the backstreet boys were naturally a throwback to an even older time then the 90s hence why they had so much trouble becoming popular in America in their early days. They became popular in Europe first then in their home country of America. Hard rock and gangsta rap were mainly in while anything that was respectful and wholesome was supposed to be out, but somehow the backstreet boys wormed their way into people's hearts despite a lot of the music industry and Hollywood not liking them. And despite some young people of the 90s feeling they were not with it. I'm happy that BSB stayed around and not only prospered in the 90s and early 2000s, but are still around 31 years later. That just teaches every one that either noticed them or was a fan of theirs over the years that if you don't give up when times are tough you can achieve your dreams.
I agree with Nick about the late 90’s & early 2000’s being one of the eras in music history. After that pop music died all together. What we’ve got now is messy & boring.
@@faaaduma6876 Ya know, to be honest, I didn't even know Cardi B existed until media outlets began announcing that she was having a baby. I was all like "Cardi who?"
artchic528 LOL! Good for you than😎 She is the most talked about person in the music world at this moment. No wonder it’s not about music anymore. It’s just about gimmick & payola.
Backstreet Boys are the best still going for 26 years 😊 #bsbdna #backstreetboys too bad all the other groups didn’t last very long like them some of their fans are still bitter but hey don’t take it out on the backstreet Boys take it out on your own favorite groups. These five guys are like family that’s why they were able to keep it together because they respect each other like brothers.
Some people believed that if Nick Carter's solo career became big and he became a superstar on his own that Backstreet Boys would have disbanded because Nick wouldn't have come back. I personally think that they would have just stayed on hiatus and eventually , Nick would have returned to them - popular or not- because he would have missed them. They had all formed a strong bond by then and were determined to see things through regardless of what the future would bring with their solo careers. Nick would have been drawn back because he would have felt something missing in his music career. I also feel that Nick Carter having a successful solo career like Justin Timberlake would have ended in tragedy without the support of his band mates. Nick was just going through too much. He said that at the time he felt broken inside and would end up no different than his family. Justin must have had either a more supportive family, friends or other significant love ones in his life than Nick.
I usually see comments full of positivity and love in BSB videos, but this one in particular has a lot of negative ones that are trying to trash the boys. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I respect everyone. But as a person who has followed them closely for the past 10 years, I know how much they love what they're doing and how hard they keep working. Of course there is a concern of commercial success, of course they want to make money. But it's just one part of it. They love their jobs, they love each other and they love their fans. And they are very much talented. Each of their voice is unique. I always adored Brian's voice, and it breaks my heart that it's not the same anymore. But still, having this kind of longevity shows that they're fighters, not quitters. As AJ said they could've broken up a long time ago, but music is what they live for. They have aspirations and I don't think they'll be retiring anytime soon, because people still wanna see them and listen to them. I think they might keep on dancing till the days that they'll need canes :)
Meltem Şenbük I 💯 agree with your comment! With success comes negativity. It’s very unfortunate that these guys can’t be both successful and be respected in the music business. Because we as fans know that they are the real deal! Thank you for saying what a lot of fans are thinking!
Haters gonna hate, as they say. BSB are the biggest warriors I know, and extremely down to earth, genuine and honest about struggles and what they've had to overcome to get where they are today. It's because of all this that I admire them to the moon and back. The fact that they are all super easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either. ;)
Like Nick said in this video, of course we miss the late 90s and early 00s style of pop music, it was truly great and pure gold. It was fun and energetic, the songs were very well written and structured, there was an energy and excellence that went with these songs. BSB will always be the best group ever
I love this vocal group and they are my best favorite singers, that why i put their song in my top playlist. Because they can divide their each part in a song with wisely, and also each member has own characteristic voice therefore it make this group is different. Definitely the backstreet boys will be unforgettable.
I love dancing to the old BSB music..there is 1 song that I love that Brian sings about his mom being his biggest fan. I wish he would sing that one more. My mom died of colon cancer actually 1 wk to the day I turned 27. My mom was the best she taught me respect, kindness, love, friendship and so much more..i listen to that song when I am missing my mom really bad. We are all unique and persistent amidst negativity :) haters gonna hate bc we're authentic and we're doin' Alright!!
At 3.30 footage of MTV Europe Music Awards 1997 performance at which i met them afterwards in the pressroom, i was 15yrs old and couldnt believe it. Got all their autographs and no other 'proof', and its still, to this day, the best day of my life!
I wish BSB would return to their R&B beginings, that sound suited them best. Apart from the awful track Boys Will be Boys, the 'red' album reigns supreme. Oh, and I like how Nick gives intelligent answers in interviews now, unlike the bad olds days when he used to say "I resign in Florida". PS Kev - you look good in glasses.
Oh Jemma you're funny, still mentioning the whole "I resign in Florida". I get what you're saying but for me personally, Backstreet Boys can adapt to almost any sound and it will be great. I don't think I ever told you this but the only albums of theirs that I don't like are Unbreakable and This Is Us, especially the former
@@itsjemmabond Definitely Masquerade is a damn good song, This Is Us has some good tracks Jemma for sure. I LOVE Straight Through My Heart, the title track, Undone, Bye Bye Love, I've warmed up to Bigger over the years, and I enjoy She's A Dream. Oh and I can't forget about If I Knew Then, that song is awesome. But the rest of the album isn't that good, not even You Need Love (All Of Your Life). Still though, This Is Us was an improvement over Unbreakable. I don't think I already told u this, but the ONLY songs I like from Unbreakable are the a cappella intro, Inconsolable, and Treat Me Right, which AJ wrote with the incredible JC Chasez. Surprisingly, the bonus tracks from that era are better than what actually did make the album, such as Nowhere to Go and Happily Never After, which Ne-Yo wrote, and ended up giving to Nicole Scherzinger
As you say the music is Chang from years 90 , different generation's and different soundtrack , it's nice to watch you transfer , good luck back street boys
I've been listening to BSB my entire life... literally was born 1994, and they're break out was 1996. My sketch pads used to be covered in BSB stickers.
Não sei se é normal esse amor q sinto pelos Backstreet Boys, fui no show deles e foi mágico cada um com seu jeito lindo de ser , não posso escolher um pq amo os 5❤
okay sooo Brian was always my fave. but Kevin is pushing thru hunny!!!! I mean I always found Kev attractive bu that man gets better with age. Kev is underrated baby. AJ has that soul flavor though that I really liked and those runs were soulful af
It's funny how I was never a fan fan of theirs back in the day, didn't have a crush on them - sry guys! - though I always found them catchy and, more than that, surprisingly melodic - eg their song We've Got It Goin' On. I find that I like them better now than back then, and I'm rather fascinated by the various facets of Howie :) Currently obsessing over their songs Straight Through My Heart, Inconsolable, All I Have To Give, Don't Wanna Lose You Now, and, from DNA, Breathe
Very well said! Hope they keep going for a long time still. Been a fan from the start, indeed missing the 90's but at the same time growing with them. KTBSPA! Love from Belgium xxx

I don't think I already told u this, but the ONLY songs I like from Unbreakable are the a cappella intro, Inconsolable, and Treat Me Right, which AJ wrote with the incredible JC Chasez. Surprisingly, the bonus tracks from that era are better than what actually did make the album, such as Nowhere to Go and Happily Never After, which Ne-Yo wrote, and ended up giving to Nicole Scherzinger

okay sooo Brian was always my fave. but Kevin is pushing thru hunny!!!! I mean I always found Kev attractive bu that man gets better with age. Kev is underrated baby. AJ has that soul flavor though that I really liked and those runs were soulful af
Guys you have prove that BSB is timeless like a good wine its rare you still have passion drive and fun loyaly yours big fan!
Backstreet Boys forever!!!
2:32 why Kevin didn't sang with the rest of the boys? Sat and enjoyed listening them singing. 😄
Legend
Great band !
Very well said! Hope they keep going for a long time still. Been a fan from the start, indeed missing the 90's but at the same time growing with them. KTBSPA! Love from Belgium xxx

I'm actually really glad I was born in the early 2000s.
Kevin on his phone reminds me of me holding my phone behind a book in school lol
Damn these guys look good :-)
The 90s was one of the best music decades., a lot of genres were popular back then. Also no one use the horrible autotune 🤮
Still love my boys.
I love them.
