    my biggest bottle haul was from a liquor store that had closed their doors in 1910 the store was then run as a furniture store until that closed its doors in 2015 however just before they opened the furniture store in 1910 they made a hardwood floor closing off the cellars of the former liquor store until we opened it in 2015 it was still fully stocked! 100+-year-old bottles with the contents still inside that and mounds of bottles that supposedly would normally have returned to the factory were they would be reused.
    one of the still full bottles is featured in one of my videos ''drinking 100 year old lemon punch'' an alcoholic lemonade syrup that I actually give a taste test.

    I love the Rowntree bottle! I used to live in New Earswick which was a village founded by Joseph Rowntree as a garden village for workers and managers at the factory. In its day it was pretty revolutionary. Lots of green spaces and each garden had a fruit tree planted in it. Ours was a pear tree! The Joseph Rowntree trust is still going though many of the houses are privately owned now. I also went to the secondary school there which is actually called The Joseph Rowntree school. Nestle bought Rowntree’s but the name has been kept as a brand name for many of the sweets such as Rowntree’s fruit pastilles 😊

    You could invest in an inexpensive tile cutter, and cut the tops off of those broken codd bottles to turn them into glasses, vases, mugs, or just containers to hold pens, pencils, paintbrushes, etc. Alot of mudlarkers do it.

      @crossgrainwoodproductsltd9230 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kylehs07 tile cutters are meant to cut tiles and flat surfaces, and they are not cheap. The vheaper one ate at least $35 and up. Enter into TH-cam search "bottle cutters" and for a couple of dollars you can make a jig that is meant to cut round glass. I have done the samething with the pretty bottles I have dug up that were to badly damaged for display. I made my bottle cutter in ten minutes and it cost me $1.67 to make and I have cut dozens of bottles with it. Don't for get you will need to soften the cut edges when done. Have fun with it!

    Hello from the States! Could listen to you talk all day! What great finds at this Victorian dump! Will you go back?! I volunteer in the archaeology department at George Washington's Mount Vernon, so I really enjoy looking at old artifacts and enjoy the research you do with finding the old advertisements. My 22 year old daughter was taking a short course at Cambridge last month and we had the opportunity to do some mudlarking on the Thames (yes, I obtained a permit!). Richard Hemery came to join me one morning--he's a genius at identifying artifacts--I encourage you to check out his TH-cam videos. Please don't change your innocent and candid approach to your presentations--it's what makes them so charming, yet insightful. Keep up the great work! More about your 17th Century farmhouse would be cool, too!

    Your enthusiasm is so contagious! Great finds, and it’s always nice to see the cat. Dreamy music. Definitely enjoyed it, just wondered if you ever got to the shops!
