A man needs to invest in defending himself and his family. Aside from having the options of owning firearms you must also get trained with it. By training I mean get professional training, do not just spend time in the range putting holes in paper. Also, it is important to do some research on defensive shooting and laws covering self-defense. If you have the means, invest time in learning home defense. At the end, we are our first responders if shit happens! You just earned my sub sir!

It's not about if we need it or not. The law in PH has provisions for civilians to own these firearms. The PNP is continuing to infringe on that privilege.
As an American the right to own comes with the responsibility to defend “home” meaning country. Meaning the government can call you to fight for your home at anytime the homeland is threatened. The history of the minutemen. If the government here is infringing on your rights, then let them fight on their own when the time comes. It’s not like they need the population anyway right?

Kung purely defensive (i.e., hihintayin mo lang yung kalaban/attacker na pumunta sa iyo sa loob ng bahay mo), rifle o shotgun na ako. Siguraduhin lang na mayroon ka pang ilang segundo para magsuot ng ear protection. Hindi mo naman kailangan mag CQB room-clearing at mag-maneuver. Pero kung may kailangan kang i-secure na kasama o pamilya mo sa loob ng bahay, short-barreled PCC/PDW o pistol ang kailangan dahil kailangan mong gumalaw.
Meron po ako 5.56 at pistols pero dtu samin sir limited capacity lng kc and pistol ng 10rds pero pag ar15 khit 100rds kung kya..kung sakin lng ar15 una kung choice kc hindi naman ako lalabas at aalis ng bahay kung home defense..aantayin kong pumasok at ayun sasalobong ng tingga.. kailang may lights din lagi ang firearms pra makita mo ang target bago ka pumutok..
Para sa akin na may maliit na bahay lang naman at hindi farm o hacienda ang tinitirhan ay sapat na ang isang maliit at mumurahing subcompact na handgun tulad nang Ruger 9mm EC9S o LCP max 380 na pwede mong "ikabit" sa katawan mo anytime anywhere sa bahay.. Pag nasa labas naman ako ay yung 1911 ang dala ko pag updated ang PTCFOR ko.
Sa bahay po i think secondary na lang ang 556 rifle, primary ang handgun. Otherwise kung na pifeel ko na madami ang nagtangka pumasok sa bahay mo palit na sya from sec to prim. Dapat din na may sinusunod na rules of engagement para pasok din sa batas. My 2 cents worth.

Short answer po: YES Why limit yourself to pistol rounds when you should be able to utilize the BEST to defend your life. Same liability and same weight of evidence naman anyway to prove self defense under the law. Additional scare factor pa ang rifle kumpara sa pistol. Super effective na deterrent. Finally, in terms of auxiliary readiness, iba pa din ang armado ang population natin! Tingin ninyo aatakehin ang Pinas kung alam ng kalaban na kada isang bahay, may isang rifle na nakahanda?
totoo naman lahat sinabi mo pero kung na pilipinas aminin natin konti lang ang makaka afford ng rifle dahil alam natin napaka mahal, simpleng pistol nga lang napaka gastos na bumili dahil sa dami ng proseso at bayarin sa requirements.
