No need for all that, just remove the screws on the pillars then lever out the bottom edge of the speedo console until it unclips, this will allow you enough room to remove the pillars and so giving access to the radio.
Good video, but in my R52 you could slide the two pipes down and angle them sidewards after removing the 4 main screws, which allowed me to access the small radio screws quickly as well as slide it out.
This was actually really useful - saved me quite a bit of cash instead of having a garage do it, cheers!
How do you put the pipes and cup holders back in? I can't put them like before
God knows why they put a cassette player in a 2005 car
+上記に漂流 because theyre cheap. my 04 S has cd player
a cassette player generally means a cd changer
My 03 has a cd player
can anybody confirm DO YOU NEED A RADIO CODE when changing the unit mine has gone bust on the cd part ive got a replacement of the same on but dont want to disconnect mine and find out i require a code for it to work because i dont have one
No need to take the side pieces off at all, there are just 4 screws that need removing for accessing the radio.
Where?
+Sean Dyer on the radio
"Cause somebody stole my car radio and now I just sit in silence"
That is one hell of a faff. We've had that centre console out several times as we got rid of the gaiter/boot from around the gearstick (its like the car's bellybutton, full of dust and grot) We got a 3d printed circular plate to cover the base of the gearstick and it is so much better and cleaner.
Absolutely no need to remove the side trims, merely remove the screws and there is plenty of movement to allow access to the radio screws (cutting the time for the job in half).
Unfortunately the advertising at the bottom of the video masked slot of the important parts of the video.
Just wanted to say this video was perfect, apart from the torx screws on the silver pillars are T15 not T40, as are the ones holding the radio in, (at least they are in my R50 2003 Cooper).
This video is amazing... It just make my day!
Thank you...
Thankyou very much, excellent video.I lost one of the blue "Raw plug things" that the pillars screw into. Have ANY idea on how to find a replacement?
Is it a standard DIN socket or do you need a fascia for it if fitting an after market head?
Good video. Any idea how you can bring 2 cables from the main car battery under the bonnet and into the head unit area?
The vertical plastic bars just slide down😳
Would it be good idea to disconnect the Neg terminal from the battery?
Send adress of this lot on Ebay please
well done buddy,a straight forward video with no bull, excellent.
I'm thinking of buying a 2004 Mini Cooper with a cassette. Is there a modern Mini CD equivalent with a usb port that will fit this model?
Davidc4 you can buy a CD changer for the boot, or just use an AUX adapter BECAUSE IT'S 2015!!!!!!
+Walter White Yeah and because it's 2015 and no longer 2004 I wanted the latest stereo possible that would fit my car so the technology would be sufficient for my needs. I bought the Mini a few months ago and had an updated BMW Mini stereo fitted by a local dealer.
+Davidc4 how much did it cost
No Problem , Its a bit of a tricky one!
