Hi, I am from Berlin in Germany and hope, you understand my text here. I have invested a lot of clutch cables over the years and the main problem is : Modern bikes don't have a rubber protector anymore at the clutch handle. (lever?) So, the oncoming water is going into the cable cover and is doing damage there. So, it is getting harder and harder to pull the clutch with your hand. To prevent this, it take only two things: Buy a rubber protection at a bike jumble or good old school dealer or tape the entrance with some tape, to avoid water coming in.. Oiling the cable is not really on my favorite list, Make sure, that the the gap underneath that handle is also protected with a little piece of tape, so that the water has no way to go into your clutch cable. You can protect that part also with a bit of grease... Thank you, Ride free and Stay safe..!
My friction throttle control is ancient. At least 25 yrs old, having gone from one bike to the next etc. It’s like this one www.ebay.com.au/itm/233401952289?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=4KvWUXuHThO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=CuvDZ4TkS5a&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hello! Nice 👍🏽. Just to clarify, when you spray in, does it lubricator the whole lot to where it goes? How do I know how long the string is (no pun intended!)? And when to 🛑 ✋ stop...? Thank you
CD T - you will see the lubricant come out at the engine end of the cable. If you disconnect the inner cable from the engine end you will be able to move it in and out of the outer cable to help the lubricant move down.
Did you find that lubricating the throttle reduced the amount of effort to twist the throttle. I am finding my NC has more resistance to twist than my last bike and it make my hand ache.
Gary Phillips - no. It was free and easy before oiling. If your throttle is hard to move you have other problems like twisted cable or grip rubbing on the bar or dirt under the twist grip etc
Hello and first, thank you for your videos, think I saw almost all and really like them, really helpful. What would you think about drilling a very small(1mm, 1.5..) hole on the metal pipe just after the lever, and adding a collar and some kind of lub nipple?
Alex A. Nothing wrong with cables. Way more reliable than hydraulic in my experience and much more robust, not to mention cheaper. Maintenance is also easier than bleeding hydraulics to change fluid regularly.
I know what you mean. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like fully integrated and concealed systems, like in a car. Less stuff that can get accidentally cut or stuck. I know you're going to say "Then just go drive a car" :o)

I’m glad you have a method that suits you.
Thanks for the comment.
I have been told that these new cables with the white sleeve do not get lubed? is the NC old school cable without the sleeve?
I see that you have some kind of cruise control on your throttle, which brand is it? Thanks for your videos!

@@AfricaTwin-Stuff Thanks, as long as it does what is meant for no need to replace.

Thanks mate.
I guess that might be possible but I don’t see it as necessary myself.
Thanks
Nice video!! But cables? Bikes are still ages behind cars... So much is riding on that little cable that needs to be inspected and lubricated...

Give a cable any day, I know how to fix / bodge a cable!
Thanks a lot
why it doesn't have a rubber cover over the brake cable adjuster to protect from weather is beyond me
Why not show the throttle cables too? ;)
