    I'm binge watching your videos. They've all been very helpful. And this one has told me that I'm not a bad crocheter for wrapping the yarn twice around my index finger, lol. Thanks for that!

    This helped me SO MUCH! I''m just now learning, and was definitely way too tight. Wrapping around my pinky lets my yarn hand relax, which helps everything. Thank you!

    I've crocheted for a long time and it never occurred to me to hold my yarn a different way. But I'm working on a shawl with fine yarn and size E hook and my DC kept coming out loopy and inconsistent. Using your method of wrapping around the pinkie has made my little stitches much more consistent. THANKS!

    Your suggestions are very helpful to beginners like me. In my case, wrapping my index finger twice works well probably because I have small hands. Thank you. 😊

    Can you please explain how to use the stitch markers, I always end up with one less stitch and my projects. Where should marker be placed when starting the next row.

    • @ForeverBlissCrochet
      @ForeverBlissCrochet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your question! I briefly cover stitch markers in this video and I've cued it up for you: th-cam.com/video/B9lvDPesFqQ/w-d-xo.htmlm1s. Loosing stitches happens at the beginning or end of a row. If the beginning, you are skipping the first stitch. This is usually with single and half double stitches. If you're losing at the end of the row, then you are missing the last stitch. This is easy to do if you are doing double crochet and don't work into the top of the turning chain as your last stitch. I address this here: th-cam.com/video/W-mvxKm_v2Q/w-d-xo.htmlm30s. Once you figure out if you are missing the first or last stitch, you can place your marker where you won't miss it, like in the top of the ch 3 or the last stitch of the row that becomes the first stitch in the next row. Hope that I explained that well. Does that answer you question? :)

    Like this video,,, im gonna use method #3,,, but how do you keep from getting yarn tangled under the pinky and flowing from the skein?

    • @ForeverBlissCrochet
      @ForeverBlissCrochet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry it's taken me a while to respond but your comment ended up in the "likely spam" folder. I really don't know why. To answer your question, I don't find that it gets tangled for me. If it does for you, try wrapping the yarn around the pinky in the other direction. It may be getting caught on itself.

    I am self taught and have recently been watching videos on common mistakes for self taught crochet. I learned a few things I was doing incorrectly, and have fixed those, but I am still struggling with holding the yarn. The way the feels most comfortable to me gives great control, but I have an issue with my yarn. The ones I buy are not in a ball so I am curious as to whether I am using the correct end (or beginning of the string). There is an end end that goes around the top, and and end that I use to start pulls through the middle which I find easyer because I don't have to worry about the skein of yarn rolling. But the problem is that it causes a lot of tenstion so I end up having to move my index finger in a circle feed more yarn through. It should pull through and glide much simpler, but I have to pull on it from the skein which I think causes more tention. Is there an easier way to do this?

    • @ForeverBlissCrochet
      @ForeverBlissCrochet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to pull from the middle too. Although, I have the same issue as you unless I keep pulling out a bit as I work. My tension is much better when I don’t have the skein adding more tension.

  • @annettejohnson5425
    @annettejohnson5425 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My problem is that i hold my pointer finger too high , therefore making me miss the yarn everytime, are there any tips on holding the yarn lower so the hook catches every stitch?,,, im finding that if i move the left hand farther from the hook seems to lower it so far.

  • @MetalScrappinChick
    @MetalScrappinChick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hold my yarn the same way that you show here, but I have a terrible time getting the yarn to slide freely through my hand. I have tried to find different ways to hold the yarn but haven't found anything that I like. It just seems like the yarn is constantly getting stuck and I'm having to tug on it to move it over my hand.

    • @sanjanabhat5032
      @sanjanabhat5032 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try wrapping the yarn around the index finger of your non-dominant hand(twice). And then hold it loosely with your thumb and middle finger. It works for me. Doesn't get tangled either.

    Why do I see so many people doing crochet on TH-cam using those coloured aluminium hooks? Are they the best?

    • @ForeverBlissCrochet
      @ForeverBlissCrochet  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are very affordable and easy to find. The material of the hook is mostly a preference. Many of mine are aluminum. The ones with comfort grip handles might be stainless steel.

    I have a question. If you make chains that are one even, will the rows be uneven

    • @ForeverBlissCrochet
      @ForeverBlissCrochet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Danielle Mosley Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking. Perhaps a typo/autocorrect in the question?

    • @CraftyVegan
      @CraftyVegan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are generally consistent, your rows and columns will be consistent. If you tend towards inconsistencies, your finished product will reflect that. Pro-tip: launder your finished project. It'll smooth out minor mistakes.
