It’s amazing how much i can relate with your story and how my parents would drive hours, gas stations to gas station trying to find a truck. It was just a tradition to get this every christmas. Thanks for bringing back memories.
@@DaveBsellsChevy congratulation is amazing your collection i like car Hess is so beautiful and strong car. Felicitaciones is maravillosa tu coleccion, me gustan los carritos Hess son hermosos y fuertes juguetes.
Oh that's really cool! I didn't even know these Hess trucks were a thing since the 80's. I mean I was born in the 90's and I think I only started hearing about them in like 2006 for some reason. So long story short I never got a Hess truck for Christmas because I think I already had a lot of toys at home and I felt guilty asking my parents for another one. But I did get an RC Invincer Hummer a few years prior to hearing about the Hess trucks. It was the coolest thing ever! I think I still have it somewhere. That was probably the closest looking toy I ever got to a Hess truck. 😅
My brother and I both have HESS trucks and also to let you know when you keep the HESS trucks put away you don't keep the Batteries inside the truck cause it will miss up the battery Component.
i was lucky enough that my dad used to get his cab from 44th and 10th ave in Manhattan and up the block was a Hess gas station and he was very good friends with the owner of the gas station. He used to save 2 Hess trucks for my dad to buy and my dad got 2 for me ... one to play with one to collect good times good times.
Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩, Southeast Asian. Honestly, this is the first time I got to know Hess Toys and I watch on TH-cam😅. But, Awesome Your Hess Toys Collection! 😁👍👍👍
Hey Alexander! It was fun collecting them as a kid.. Now I just buy the new truck each year and put it in storage. It was fun making this video and taking a look at them again.
In England, we have the Coca-Cola truck, which appears on the telly every Christmas. It’s similar to the Hess trucks, but red and decked out in lights and pictures of Santa Claus. It usually goes on tour every holiday season, with the tour staff on hand to give out free cans of Coke, and there’s always a big queue to take pictures with the truck. As for the “Holidays are Coming!” commercials where they started, the truck is one of several thousand travelling through snowy landscapes, lighting up houses and leaving onlookers in awe as they pass. Basically, it stirs the same reaction as the Hess adverts, and many claim Christmas doesn’t start until the Coke ad’s on TV. Their jingle is a slow chant of “Holidays are coming...” interlaced with lyrics like “‘Tis the season!” and “Always Coca-Cola!” The most iconic one is where the trucks pass through a town and are greeted by thousands of well wishers. A boy pushes to the front of the crowd and ends up missing the whole thing. In older versions he ends up being rewarded for an action at the start of the advert (ringing a church bell) with a bottle of Coke. The Santa painted on the back of the last truck comes to life and is seen drinking a Coke bottle he’s holding before returning to a still image. (They were actually created by the same guys who did the special effects for Star Wars) Do the Hess fans think of the Coke lorries as nasty knock offs? Just a question.
Dave B sells Chevy I’m pretty young so I got all the 2000-2012 stuff. But I was also fortunate to get all my family’s hand down trucks so I had trucks all the way back to the 90’s. I still say to this day there was no better toy then a Hess truck. Your video inspires me to go back and look to see if I can find them. Keep up the great videos.
Man I really gotta find some of my vehicles again.. I miss them a lot, I used to have a great collection thanks to family, I'd usually play with them, after some family stuff I moved away from my parents and that collection seems to have gone to waste, maybe one day I can get some back from their house and either restore them or give them to someone else to restore eventually
Nice collection my dad used to work at the Woodbridge Hess gas station and was gifted the 2001 helicopter that I got to play with as a kid. Now I'm starting my own hobby of collecting them with the new 2020 ambulance.

This is exactly what it was for me. I’m 21 and have over 43 trucks. My parents got me the 1993 police car and started to get me the new one each Christmas and I have been collecting ever since
Great collection My kids got a Hess truck every year from my parents their grandparents My son started this in 90’s I have continued collecting after he no longer was interested . missing a couple of yrs . I now ask my grown daughter to get me the latest for Christmas each yr . Looking for a way to display them I have every box as well as the Hess plastic bag they were packed in
the Hess trucks actually is what pulled you into selling cars . You asked before what kind of car I had as a first car . as a senior in high school my dad bought me a 67 Cadillac. It was in pretty good condition . I love it . I took rop auto body . Fixed up the body and painted it blue . It was all original. All factory and my friends loved it . Anyways cool Hess truck segment.
Probably, that and all other car toys I had. The best part of car ownership is doing work on them yourself. Then you can stand back and be proud of what you built.
I'm 22 and my dad's family would typically get a Hess truck for me and many of my younger cousins. (Thier toddler's to maybe early elementary school age). I've never opened mines because I felt I outgrown them and my preferred collectables are die-cast fighter jets (Mostly American ones. I want to more European and Pacific Rim nations). But my favorite is the 1999 Space Shuttle. They will never top that one.

I did not know them. Not something you would find down here in CR. They are beautiful. Great collection. I used to have Hotwheels, Matchbox and Micromachines as well as car remote control from Tyco.
Yes I grew up in lansdown Maryland and just like u I would get one every year I lost the police car I just picked one up today at a flemarket I used to live playing with them
If you are just going to keep in box and collect should you open them up and take the batteries out? I got a bunch of older Hess Trucks and batteries have corroded in them.
Great Collection, but I don't see any Display cabinets or racks. Anyone has a suggestion. My collection is about 15 Trucks and I want to put them on a wall display.
Cool collection and a great family heirloom. I got my first in 1972, which I destroyed. (I was a rotten kid in those days). My next was '74, which I still have, and have most all of them up to the present. Some trivia for those that may not know; there were no Hess trucks made in 1973, '79 and '81. And, the first year that had the year on the license plate was 1988. And, the batteries should be removed within the first couple years to insure no leakage and corrosion.
Yea my first few were played with and are no longer in good condition. I always thought I should try to find some of the ones from the 70's to add to my collection.
@@DaveBsellsChevy Well, it's definitely worth it if you can find ones that are decent and affordable. In my opinion, the best one from the '70's is the fire truck from '70 and '71, which I don't have. That rotating emergency light is extremely realistic. Enjoyed your video very much...take care.
I used to have one but I destroyed all of them when I was a baby the only one left is my toy helicopter and my old mini toy truck but soon I’m getting new ones!
