I am a very good Ms. Pac Man player....scoring 350,000-400,000 but I have never used grouping. I instead, I can predict in most cases where the ghosts will go. The problem that limits my score is concentration. This video is awesome! After 30+ years of playing I finally know how to beat the game. Now I just need to practice and hone my concentration.
good man! im starting to play pacman but i cant reach more far than level 11, please give me some advice.... i die the most in the banana levels, that maze is very difficult to me!
my Church's Pastor is really good at this game. and he told us "im not saying no one here can beat my score, but it will be really difficult" so now im watching videos so i can beat his highscore. thank you for the knowledge and i hope i beat him.
@akulakaboom I gave up. He's too good and has many more years of experience with it than i ever will. I think I last heard his highscore was like 175,000 and that's just too much to try to beat. Especially since adulthood just hit me and I have no more time to try
Again, Awesome :) Crystal-clear explanation, and creative use of pics, gameplay, and maze dimensions. I sense a whole new generation of MsPac players forming, invigorated by your 2 tutorials. My only criticism is that you didn't close out with the whole of Act I haha (oh the pac-blasphemy! J/k) :P
Random question for anyone who might have an answer, does the coding error described in part 1 when pacman is facing up (as described on don hodges' site) make the game easier, harder or just different than it would have been if it worked 'as intended'?
Interesting question! I would argue that it does, since there are TONS of times when this can help get you out of a jam with Pinky. That said, I've had a few decades to get used to it :-)
In general, yes. Unlike Ms. Pac-Man, the ghosts in Pac-Man do not behave randomly at the beginning of each maze. As a result, Pac-Man can be patterned (whereas Ms. Pac-Man cannot). Also, Pac-Man has a scatter mode, in which the ghosts all return to their corners every now and then. Ms. Pac-Man gives the player no such reprieve!
I have been playing Ms Pacman since I was a kid and it first came out. I have owned an original arcade cabinet, now I have an arcade 1up version. In that version the orange ghost does not behave exactly as described. At times it will come straight at you even if you are in the upper left corner. Can be frustrating until you accept the fact they must have changed something in the coding when they emulated the game for their hardware.
I honestly never thought I would watch 30 mins on pac-man logic but here I am’ thanks ps4 trophies’ only thing u drove me insane with is inky is blue! Not green 🤣 how do u remember inky…? Think of ink … okay a pen has ink and what color is pen ink…. The pen that I hold in my hand is BLUE! (Insert liar liar reference) But inky aside I loved the 2 videos’ so simple but like most I left it to chance’ Within 15 mins I got my perfect’ I never thought something so stupid could give me such a rush……… my heart was racing knees weak palms were sweaty…. But victory is mine Ghosts!
Good theory and strategy. Any pointers on how to make these work if Ms-Pac man has the speed up hack? I have been trying to do this but have not had a whole lot of success
I confess that I am a bit of a purist when it comes to the Pac family of games, and generally I only play at the original speed! That being said, I would think the above info would still be handy, if in need of some adjustment. One good thing: if you do get all four together, it is much easier to KEEP them together because getting distance between yourself and the group is easier in turbo. One other thought: I would think the group wouldn't need to be too tight due to your speed advantage...?
So when you grab a power pellet the orange doesn't retreat but instead moves towards you briefly, like he want's to do the opposite of what he's programmed to do?
Whenever a power pellet is eaten, the ghosts will turn blue, reverse direction, and flee at random (at least until much later in the game, when they no longer turn blue, in which case they reverse direction and resume their normal method of pursuit :) )
@@JoeCnNd Indeed! If you look carefully, Sue is the only ghost that doesn't head towards Ms. Pac-Man at the intersection beneath the power pellet before I eat it (see Tutorial 1 for the explanation as to why). Thus, when I eat the power pellet, the three "primary ghosts" reverse and run away, but Sue reverses back towards me! :-)
wyleFTW Well, it's kinda like how on the show SpongeBob SquarePants, everybody always says Squidward is green, but he's clearly blue. "Well, they're everywhere, especially if you're green and have six tentacles"

Close to halfway there. Start posting footage. Theirs people who'd love to see. Even if it isn't world record pace.

Amazing! I just got a 1up Ms. Pac-Man and I'm trying to learn this!
Nice explanation! It is nice to understand these ghosts better!
this guys videos are awesome - I've finally crossed the rubicon!!!!

Just scored an orignal Ms Pac with Turbo cab so these tutorials are a great starter!
Now OG speed chip installed - still hard to learn lol
Makes sense we don't need to worry much about orange ghost because in previous video he first chases you and then in a radius of 8 pellets run away.
Dude, flawless video. Thanks for the content!
As a long time Mrs. Pac-Man player, this video is beautiful. If you have any more tips, I’d love to see more videos.
That's amazing, at times I was using this technique and never even knowing it lol. Great video man.
Very high-level gameplay
You are a king. Thank you for making this.
HES NOT GREEN-A!

Brilliant! Thank you!
What system is he playing this on?
In the funnel the reason they take the paths they do is simply to go the shortest path to the player.
Where is part three?
What about grouping on the other boards?
AMAZING! Thx for sharing!
Great video but um... 2:28 "green" ghost? Looks cyan to me.
quality videos
Do the same rules apply for the original PAC man

David Manning thanks
This harder than it looks and its tough for me to focus right now
How can I play the game
You the man!
There is no green ghost

It's not green, it's cyan!
Is this still relevant because it's not working for me. :-)
Very informative, thanks!

Do you have the 20th anniversary Ms. Pac/Galaga machine?
totally brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
More!!!

@@MrAnningmay I mentioned that because 13:10 orange runs towards you after you gobble the power pellet.

The org ghust is a grad ghust he doesn't try to get you like the other ghust
"green ghost"... Is he trolling me or am I colorblind?
wyleFTW Well, it's kinda like how on the show SpongeBob SquarePants, everybody always says Squidward is green, but he's clearly blue.

Josiah Winslow Squidward is teal. Greenish-blue. Inky is just straight-up light blue.
Nifty video, but the orange ghost is named Sue, and presumably female! Don't call her 'he'! ;)
Again, WAAAAY too chatty and verbose, but still good vids - thanks!
He explains it that way so that a simpleton such as yourself can understand.
No shit Nick, I totally agree with you...Some morons don't get the fact he's actually trying to explain something.
Wow! Some people would bitch if their ice creams cold I gather.
