My kids and I were watching and betting on whether this would get the sax serenade. :) We love Jaipur, so we're going to have to give this a try. Great review.

+Stephen Gordon I wish I could add a survey that's live and you fill out during the final thoughts but before the end to have people guess if it will make the Sax Serenade or not!

Been dying to get this and that's before the comparison to Jaipur (tie for all-time #2).

Clarifying. We own it, but it's unplayed.

Couldn't get this in the UK after waiting for two weeks to be back in stock, so I bought Valley of the Kings Afterlife instead.
Quite pleased with my decision, at least there are no random standstorm and steal cards in that game. The burying mechanic and playing interaction is great fun as well.

+Radish Horse I actually like the storm cards here since it give you a reason (urgency) to not wait around for your sets all game long. But you do get that one tent so if you're really waiting for one more for a big set, you can withstand one storm. Great design!

+TheGameBoyGeek - Hi Quality Hi Energy Board Game Reviews I hear ya. There is a similar mechanic in Valley of the Kings where you can't keep collecting cards, as only scrapped (buried) ones score you points at the end of the game. But you know that already :)
I'll try and get Archaeology at some point, but also get the feeling that designers/publishers lose out on a lot of sales by not making their games available across the globe (or don't release enough copies). People then just buy something else, and rarely look back.
A good example would be Dale of Merchants which is only available from one EU publisher at a ridiculous price since last year. I don't know anyone who owns the game, and not a lot of us care about it anymore with similar games coming out (e.g. Archaeology).

Phil Walker Harding is apparently unable to design a bad game. I have Imhotep and Cacao are those two are sooo good. Especially Imhotep which is one of the best games that I'va played this year.

Hmm. We gave Jaipur (2 sets so we can play with four-scales perfectly), Lost Cities, Biblios and Archaelogy the card game. I think this niche is already covered.

+stacie haden But this IS Archaeology the card game (reprinted and re-implemented)!

Then it's definitely time to get the original out of the shrink. Shame. :)

This game feels a bit like advanced Bohnanza

I hate Jaipur. Over-rated, luck driven game, even the VP chips for set bonuses are random. Yuck. So many better games that play just like jaipur.
