crazy how people's first thought is usually daechwita but these places have actually been used for so many older mvs and historical dramas
“Shangri-la” by VIXX, “Arario” by ToppDogg, “Fiance” by Mino, “Lit” by Oneus are older MVs with traditionally korean concepts. Tbh it’s very daring they have a pretty set concept, sadly this type of concept doesn’t translate well into more mainstream success. Groups that are more flexible in that regard are less likely to fail. it’s hard to keep kpop groups popular if they’re under small companies in general, pulling off a concept like this for years makes it even more difficult. Vixx actually is one of the groups that was known for their varying concepts. Overall, most groups followed the trends at their time, it’s fun to see around when which trend started and who started it. Groups like BAP and Block B in 2012 influencing almost all groups from 2012-2016 with their sound, concepts and songwriting but at the end of the day, they’re not even known by new kpop fans nowadays due to their trash companies
some of the filming locations in this mv are filmed at a filming location for dramas and music videos, which is why they looked similar to some scenes you have seen in other mv from other groups. It's because it is the same set

I'm about to hit y'all with a big comment here. Love Kingdom with my whole heart! Hopefully this will be helpful and provide some good info for you guys (and if any other Kingmes see something off with my comment, please do corrent me lol).
First off, whoever Kimberly (or Kimberlee? however their name is spelled, sorry) is I love them immensenly. Ever since Kingdom debuted they have been a new top favorite boy group for me. I love their concept A LOT. You guys touched on it a little bit, but yeah, just to give a brief about their concept, each member is supposed to be be a different king/ruler based and inspired by different eras and places in the world, and each of their stage names works into that as well. So, not all their title songs are traditionally sounding like this, but more so based around their specific kingdom.
The comepany they are under is GF Entertainment, and yesh they are on the smaller side, but they always do so well to make their releases grand with each and every comeback. They basically have like a 12 year plan set up since pre-debut (I think) for the group around storylines of their kingdoms (and other plans too like a webtoon and other media as well!), with these first batch of releases being ones focused on each individual member at the forefront. This one that you watched, 'Ascension', is focused on the member Dann and is a Korean style kingdom. What you saw at the end (the vampire like moonlit member) is Louis (who is not a vampire but immortal in their lore IIRC). What Kingdom has done for every one of their MVs (because they have things planned so far in advanced) is have like a teaser for whose kingdom is next, which has been really cool. (Side note, the after after credit here was for another MV they put out around the time for another song on the album).
I would love to see you guys react to the rest of their stuff (and I agree with another comment that it might be best to react in order from debut just so you can really see how amazingly they grow, cause they always top themselves each time). I've written below the order in which they happen (member name, song, and location of inspiration) [Edit: added in what their kingdoms are/what they're the king of in the group's storyline lore]:
Arthur (kingdom of rain) - 'Excalibur' - Britain (their debut back in February 2021)
Chiwoo (kingdom of cloud) - 'Karma' - China (note, Chiwoo is no longer a part of the group and they've gained a new member named Hwon who joined them with 'LLTK')
Ivan (kingdom of snow) - 'Black Crown' - Russia
Dann (kingdom of change) - 'Ascension' - Korea (what you watched here)
Louis (kingdom of aesthetic) - 'Long Live The King' - France
Mujin (kingdom of cherry blossoms) - 'Dystopia' - Japan (not out yet but they are about to comeback near the end of this month with his)
Jahan (kingdom of the sun) - his is not here yet of course, but I'm pretty sure his will be after Mujin's and based around India
And then Hwon (king of storm) who is the newest member that I mentioned above. Not too sure about him yet, but it seems like he might be speculated to be China (which feels like it could/would make sense) based on his trailer they put out for him when he joined, but yeah

The first song with which they debuted was on February 18, 2021, which is titled "Excalibur" refers to the legendary sword of King Arthur from the famous movie "The Sword in the Stone".
Thank you for reacting!! Ascension is truly a masterpiece. You can tell that the crew put all their love into that comeback, since they were showcasing their own culture. It's not like Black Crown (Ivan the Terrible) and Excalibur (King Arthur) where they interpreted what the styles were like back then in medieval Wales and 1500's Russia with a hint of modernism. No, for Ascension, they used hanbok (traditional Korean clothing), both royal and casual, that are authentic to the culture. They shot at an authentic palace, used shots of musicians playing real authentic Korean instruments, and they shot an extra music video for Promise, a b-side for King Dann (Emperor Danjong of Joseon, as I believe Dann to be representing). No other b-side has ever had its own music video before (crossing my fingers for Song of the Wind and maybe even Last Flower!!), so this one was special. Ascension is certainly one of their best title tracks, as well as one of their strongest comebacks!!
AFAIK the concept of KINGDOM is that each member represents a "historical" king like Ivan, Louis, Arthur etc. Each album shows one king, his time, his culture. I believe their next comeback will be a Japanese king & you might be able to imagine what the South Korean reaction is about that. Yes, backlash. Cultural appropriation & other things are thrown around, all which were **NOT** even considered for their other albums. 😉 I think as a group as well as their music, they are very underrated. Their MVs are always interesting!

Their sound can be traditional mixed modern music.
They are known as cinematic idols cause their mv are movie like plus has storyline and their live performance also tell a story and they use lots of props like sword, fans, and long sticks while dancing ain't kidding.
