Keeping Busy at Avengers Compound with Natasha Romanoff || Marvel Ambience [Read Desc!]

-Story-
Rain is pitter pattering against the windows of Avengers Compound, the faint sound of the TV and whatever talk show Nat had flicked on hour ago in an attempt to fill the silence still reaching your ears, their voices an incomprehensible murmur. Your longtime best friend and fellow Avenger clicks away at the keyboard on her desk, evident exhaustion and fatigue clinging to her weary features as the holograms of the remaining members of the Team - scattered across the Universe - appear beside where you sit. The Team meeting is short and sweet and the woman across from you seems to be having quite the trouble keeping her composure - a usual occurrence since Thanos snapped away 50% of the world’s population in an instant all those years ago. With a stroke of a key, the meeting ends and the holograms flicker away, once more leaving just you and Nat, your compassionate gaze settling upon her broken features, a folder of reports and other paperwork being absentmindedly flipped through. “You know, if you’re about to tell me to look on the bright side…” Natasha pauses, tear-filled gaze wandering to the plate with the half eaten sandwich she’d crafted for lunch previously. “I’m about to hit you in the face with a peanut butter sandwich.” Restraining a soft chuckle, you instead sigh, leaning forward on your elbows slightly, reaching out a hand to squeeze hers. She tosses you a broken, thin-lipped grin, an almost bittersweet look falling upon her features. “I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job. This family. And I was better because of it.” Sharing a tense nod and another thin smile, you reach towards the CD player perched on the bookshelf nearest you, pressing the play button. And almost instantly, the sound of the disc you and Nat had made together at the beginning of all of this begins to play - drowning out the TV program from the other room and dampening the sound of the rain, almost providing the pair of you with a momentary hope for the future. And indeed, that hope arises a lot sooner than either of you realize...

You had kept yourself stuck in the gym of the Compound as often as you could. Nothing felt the same after the blip and at some point, you felt empty inside. All the friends that were now gone, the hole left in your heart with a certain someone being gone. After the first couple years, the tears ran out, but then your mind needed something to distract.
Training in the gym was really all you did. It distracted you from the pain of who you missed. And at the small moments you were reminded of their presence, you got sad and angry again and pushed it away to just keep training. Steve said you would drive yourself mad if you didn’t get out of the gym and talk to someone.
Today was that day as you came across the main council room where Natasha was speaking with Okoye, Rocket, Carol, and Rhodey. They were discussing current situations and you knew it was another way of Natasha keeping busy after all that happened.
When she was done, you came into the room and sat down to join her. “Well….you seem to be keeping yourself busy, more useful than I am.”
“If you’re about to tell me to look at the bright side….I’m going to hit you in the face with a peanut butter sandwich.”
You chuckled and gave a small smile as you said, “No, because then I’d have to find a bright side….and I can’t.” You sat down across from her and offered her hand a small squeeze, the only comfort you could give your friend. “I miss them….all of them….and I’m going out of my mind because every thing I do reminds me of my friends now gone….sometimes I don’t know what to do with myself.”
Natasha gave you a small smile back, knowing exactly how you felt. “Before this, I had nothing. And this gave me a family. And I was better because of it.”
You nodded sadly and whispered lowly, “So was I….” Unable to hold onto the thought of who you lost and missed, you stood up and went over to the CD player and took out a disc to put in. “If anything, at least we know we put good albums together; might be a new profession.” You gave a little chuckle as you put the disc in and let the music play. You went over to the small table and grabbed two of the beers that were there, handing one to Natasha. You opened it and tilted it to toast with hers. “Here’s to…..figuring it all out.” You clinked beers and drank as you let the music lull you into a sense of calm you hadn’t felt in five long years.
I like it! It’s very different. Not that I’m surprised with any content that comes from you. Couldn’t help myself but write something.

This is amazing and honestly exactly what I needed after watching widow!!!! I had a lil idea for a video that might be a cute idea. A tony stark ambiance at the compound after the events of civil war? Rhodey could be in it too. It could have a couple classic tony stark songs in it with a bit of dialogue. Just an idea I had that I thought I'd share ☺️
