    The dial is an absolute winner. Especially in that case! Great video!

    Best thing about not so limited 'limited edition' Seiko is that if you wait long enough you get them at awesome discount. Just ordered new from an AD for £580 in new years sale. Can't beat half price for a mid tier Seiko with a dial this good.

  • @jimhim585

    I like it! Good combo. I kinda wish it was a vertical brushed metal dial, like a Milgauss 1019 - more sporty, less fancy.

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be cool, they've done a similar dial to what you've described on one of my King Seiko's and Panda Chronographs

  • @TheBimmer74
    @TheBimmer74 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Seiko is the master of dials but the 6R35 movement is not worth the extra money in my opinion. My Willard is back at my AD because it was running at an amplitude of 159 degrees and stopped well short of the 70 hours power reserve. Seiko...just stick with the reliable 4R35, the great dials, saphire and a decent bracelet at half the price.

    • @Koishishibaman
      @Koishishibaman ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have a bunch of 6r35 seikos. The accuracy is all over the map. A few pretty good, others not so much. It always amazes me how accurate my 4r35 divers are. I wore a couple of samurai to work.....about 5 seconds off in a day. Most are relatively accurate good runners.
      Better than my 8L in my Seiko diver.

    • @TheBimmer74
      @TheBimmer74 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Douglas Lockhart I have the Samurai too. It's accurate and reliable with a great looking dial and saphire crystal at half the price of my Willard.

    Great review. Thanks. Great looking strap you put on it. What is it?
    I have a Willard sbdc149 with the seichu straps. Beautiful straps that look great on the watch. Only one problem for me. Makes the watch sit way to high on my wrist. Bugs me! I ended putting it on a reddish leather strap. Has a good vintage look to it.
    That slim turtle is gorgeous! Tempted to get one. I am drawn to the Willard sbdc169. Really like the funky shape of that case. Think the Willard is more playful with the white and blue.

      I wear all my natos the single pass technique. I think it gives a much cleaner look and makes the case sit much closer to the wrist.

    Bracelet definitely suits a pilots watch a lot more. The watch looks amazing and I think that circular date window matches the circular design of the case.

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, the overall theme really comes together well on this one

    • @clivebroadhead4857
      @clivebroadhead4857 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AverageBros Did you actually read the 'welcomewrist' comment before showing a love that will echo through the ages. Circular case design beggars belief. 99% of analogue watch dials are round, little to surprises here. The watch in this instance has a barrel case. On the other hand your selection strap for this particular watch is appropriate. Often it appears that when you show the more generic watches there is an excuse to introduce a strap that adds little to the presentation. I hope you saw the irony of removing the single use plastic from the supplied recycled band, though I think that strap was incredibly elegant, echoing craft from a different age, and was given short thrift in the review. By all means introduce sponsored products but Seiko designers probably deserve more respect. Also you would normally expect an aviator's watch to have a leather band if tradition was to be observed.

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clivebroadhead4857 Yeah, I read it. They agreed that the bracelet looked more like it suited a pilot's watch, as I mentioned in the video. As for the other comments, maybe rounded would've been more appropriate vs. circular. Strap wasn't sponsored, I ordered and paid normally. I purchased the watch knowing I wasn't going to wear it on the strap or bracelet, so I already had the strap ready and had others in route as well. I didn't disrespect their designers, I'm a customer and this is my watch to wear as I prefer, I've praised their Seichu straps for their looks and build quality but the wearability just isn't there for me. As for the Aviator on a strap comment, I'm specifically talking about bracelets, the 5-link style is something you'd normally see on a Flieger, I just did a video about the new bracelet for the Laco Flieger Pro and it's a 5-link.

    Nice video 👍🏻😄. I don’t like the bracelet, but I think Seiko went with a five link to try and keep that narrow elongation from the dial. I would have it on the plastic bottle strap, just for the colour match. Interesting to see what the second strap looks like.

      Then you must have enjoyed the single use plastic containing the strap. At least if were sandwiched between the shells of baby turtles the result would have been bio degradable. I prefer the 317. Less fluff.

  • @DavidRon

    I'm curious how this became known as the "slim turtle" when this bears more hallmarks of a Willard. Wouldn't "slim willard" make more sense? Is the Willard a type of Turtle maybe?

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The model it references predates the Willard, as the Willard was an evolution of this case, adding asymmetrical crown guards. The Willard is part of the turtle family line being the in-between step between the Slim Turtle 6105-8000 and 6306/6309 Turtles.
