As a Semi Truck Driver, in winter times some times I have to use this machine.... I thought I always used it wrong. Thanks to you I know how to get better use of the machine. Thank You for the video.
Bought this unit at Oh Oh O'riley's for $157. It's quiet. Thought it wasn't working but it charged my battery. I have a smaller Schumacher which can charge a dead battery. That's why I bought this big one. Got a the B&D charger. It's ok too. Glad you like yours.
Not sure why you got all those thumb Downs you actually explained the process and product pretty thoroughly but thanks for posting the video man really help me out
As a Semi Truck Driver, in winter times some times I have to use this machine.... I thought I always used it wrong. Thanks to you I know how to get better use of the machine. Thank You for the video.
Not really. If you get one of these, read the instructions first. You connect the chargers cables to the battery BEFORE plugging it into the wall socket. It sets itself according to the voltage detected in the battery. Most of the time it will go to 40amp boost for a while, then jump over to charge and maintain. It has a microprocessor that does this automatically, if you read the instructions and use it correctly.
90% of charger/starters I have used were old units I got from cleanouts. Generally 15-20 years old units. Majority of them worked fine but some "sparked" out or stopped working. For the most part for their age they held up well. The last decade I had bought a few NEW units that all simply fail. The saftey feature on new units automatically HAULT giving charge via built in censors is a real pain. And others simply stop working correctly. I hope this lasts. I realllly hope this unit works. I just got it in the mail and so far it is working on two of my cars. Fingers cross.
The saftey feature bit my butt this afternoon. My ride on mower battery was totally dead. Too dead thatbthe charger refused to jump start. I did have an almost dead car battery in the shed ... Too dead to jump mower but enough life to NOT trip the charging unit. I hooked both batteries together and hooked charger to mower. Just enough life not to trip censor and mower started. Im going to research a way to remove or byoass that feature. It hurts everyone. We buy these things to jump start dead machines... I mean...it's... Why?? Btw great video!! Thank you!
Update on my machine. I took it apart to see what was wrong and I had a loose wire. The thick blue one wasn't connected to anything so I looked around and found where it went now she looks to be working just fine. I will say tho be careful if you choose to take yours apart. Mine had 2 hidden screws under the label that held the top to the front.. I ended up bending those tabs now it won't go back together properly. Im going to have to fix it.
I have a Schumacher battery charger and the sight glass that tells you whether it's charging or not it gives you a scale what would that be called what's the exact term and how would I order something like that for the charger
@@quarantinedad no it DOESENT work it has a metal loop ban on the back that wires run thur no connection I think it pick up the current somehow thru this process
I have the similar one to this I think mines the "home use" and that one is the "shop use" one I paid 100 bucks for mine just got here today and I had to hook a multi meter to my battery just to confirm it was charging. None of the lights or buttons on mine seem to do anything I thought it was broke. But it seems to be slowly charging the battery dispite it not having any obvious working parts. The battery was at just under 4v when I hooked it up and the probably 30 minutes I was messing with it the voltage went up to 5.50 I have a old battery laying around I used as a base line to see if my multi meter was malfunctioning and the old battery stayed at 4v while the one I was charging slowly went up. Going to give it a couple hours and see what it looks like. I'm assuming since the machine needs a 15 amp outlet to function properly thats why its not kicking on 100% I'm pretty sure my garage outlet is a 10 amp. Don't know if that would make a difference or not.
What does it turn off when i set it up? If battery is dead, do i choose jump start or maintain? Because it just turns off. Troubleshooting... just looking for who actually has used this.. i have but now i got car troubles.. lol
It sets itself automatically if you hook the cables to the downed battery first and then plug in the charger. It will eventually turn itself on and go to 40amp boost on a dead battery. Once it has turned itself on, then you can go to the high boost selection and jump start a vehicle. If charging a dead battery. It will come on by itself and go to 40 amp boost and sit there a while, then when it gets a good bit of charging, it will automatically switch over to charge and maintain. Thank you very much.🤣
I’d say the best of the best is by Pro logic solar! Which will be a special order from any store! Or the associated equipment 6/12/24v wheel charger! And most of your local auto part stores can order it! Hope this helps!
Does this have transformers in it, or is it solid state electronics. I like the old Schumacher stuff with the transformers and metal cases, they can stand a rever polarity protection. The switches on all of them are shoddy and poor tho. It's most likely German and pronounced Shoe-mach-er as in "Mach 1" the speed of sound. Not "shoe-maker"

@@quarantinedad Yeah, i swear by their old metal case transformer inside versions. The switches on them always are kind of chinzy and shoddy. The transformer versions survive a reverse polarity connection and a shorted battery - the solid state versions.. not so much... plus the solid state versions won't even start charging if the sense the battery voltage is below 9 volts or something. Then follow the -, black lead all the way down to where it ends at the machine, and write negative. But wait! What about the people that don’t know what positive or negative means? Or what the + and - mean? I guess we follow the red, +, positive lead to where it ends at the machine , and place a red circle next to the +, positive. Follow the black,- ,negative lead to where it ends at the machine, and place a black circle on the machine. But wait! The machine is black, and the black circle can’t be seen on the machine. What we gonna do now? 🤔
It sure does. You hook the cables up and then turn on. It automatically detects the condition of the battery and chooses the setting you need to use for the current condition of the battery. Thank you all very much. I always read the instructions before I use a product for the first time. Everyone should do the same.
