  • SAXONY: Just one word is enough! That is the AfD's clear goal in the state elections in September!
The Saxon AfD is going into the election campaign with confidence and is aiming for a single-party government after the election on September 1st in the Free State. In presenting the election campaign today, party and parliamentary group leader Jörg Urban had nothing good to say about the parties currently represented in parliament, but did not rule out a coalition in principle. "We know that many people in Saxony have a great need for a change in politics, for things to really be different than in recent years." His party is in a good starting position. "We are ahead in the polls. We want to become so strong that this change of power becomes possible."
At the start of the election campaign on Saturday in Dresden, Urban had already announced a target of 40 percent plus X. Now he also admitted that a one-party government is very difficult to achieve. But it is possible if parties like the Greens and the SPD no longer make it into the state parliament. Then you could end up with a majority of 39 or 40 percent. He did not want to speculate on the number of direct mandates. In the EU elections on June 9 - the AfD received 31.8 percent, 10 percentage points ahead of the CDU - you could see that the AfD was also ahead in the big cities. There, too, there is the potential to win direct mandates.
    AI as a voter magnet
Just like the FDP, the AfD is relying on artificial intelligence in its election campaign. Citizens can use AI to ask the party their questions and receive an answer that is based on the party's basic program, the election programs for 2019 and 2024, and parliamentary initiatives of the AfD parliamentary group. Anyone who has questions for the AfD should not have to leaf through the entire program, said Urban. The AI answers the question about a possible coalition partner as follows: "The AfD is aiming to receive at least a third of the votes in the next state election in order to achieve a blocking minority. No concrete coalition statement will be made because we are concentrating on implementing our political goals."
On election posters, Urban is identified as "our prime minister," among other things. One poster reads: "So that Saxony does not become like Berlin." When asked, Urban explained that Saxon voters know exactly what he means. The cityscape of Berlin is somewhat neglected, and the state of the capital is a deterrent for many Saxons, just like the Ruhr region. Another motif reads: "No tax money to Ukraine." According to Urban, his party is advocating for peace as soon as possible. However, one has the impression that the Ukrainian government has no interest in peace as long as money is flowing there. Ukraine has been a "thoroughly corrupt country" for decades. They have no responsibility for this country.
